Text from the Evaton Technologies website:

"RF. Radio Frequency. The stuff that Marconi made famous. Or maybe it made Marconi famous. Either way, it's not just for listening to hockey games anymore.

The RF Nomad voltage-controlled sideband shortwave receiver Eurorack module is currently in final stages of prototype evaluation.

The RF Nomad adds the squealy, squelchy, noisy, unpredictable vintage sounds of shortwave radio to your modular. But this is no ordinary shortwave; it's been designed to be extra noisy, extra squealy, extra gritty, and just downright nasty. No built-in output filtering means that a rich spectrum of harmonic content is available on the audio output jack. Audio levels can be driven to distortion. CV control lets you add your own creative spin on sound design.

Hissy interstation audio. Squealy heterodynes. Fading stations. Atmospheric noises. Faint voices in foreign languages from distant broadcast stations. Fire and brimstone. It's all in there, just like your granddad's old tabletop shortwave.

But, the RF Nomad adds a twist: The tuning is voltage controlled. Sure, when you were a kid, you discovered you could make spacy noises on Papa's shortwave by slowly turning the tuning dial. But just how fast could you twist that dial? Faster than an audio-rate LFO? Hardly. Voltage controlled tuning means that the RF Nomad will let you explore sounds you never imagined you could get out of a shortwave receiver."

New Eurorack Module Animodule Quad Comparator

Published on Mar 17, 2014 Flux302 of Fluxwithit.com·165 videos

"The Quad Comparator is a Logic Module for Eurorack synthesizers.
It's a simple quad comparator based around the LM339.
It will take your Voltages and turn them into Logic On.

When your signal is higher than the threshold the Gate goes high and the NOT Gate goes low.
When your signal is lower than the threshold the NOT gate goes high and the Gate goes low.

You can set the threshold anywhere from about -10V to +10V.

Input 1 is buffered then normalled to JackSwitches 2-4. So you could send an LFO in to Input 1, set different thresholds for all the inputs and have all the gates/NOT Gates fire at different points from the same LFO.

Width = 8HP , Depth = 29mm"

Analog Legacy - emulating vintage synthesizers in Reaktor

Published on Mar 17, 2014 Steelberry·41 videos

"Message from the builder:

As Reaktor programmer I have been developing synthesizer ensembles with a vintage touch for many years. After a decade locked into the labs I've now managed to finalize a new isomorphic algorithm called Analog Legacy. It's a break away from the perfect generated sounds produced by standard software synths and I'm convinced it will change the world of emulation analog synthesizers.
Just before the release of the ensemble that was the result of a decade of development - then the dominant of software instruments, NI Corporation, releases the Monark. Users were raving about the detail of emulation and character of the instrument. Is it now possible for an independent developer to release an analog emulation of the Minimoog based on the Reaktor platform without being accused of theft?
An ensemble using the Analog Legacy technology has been uploaded to the Reaktor User Library. Will this this ensemble be purged by the Master Control or will it escape through the portal?"

Minimojo - Minimoog emulation built in Reaktor

Published on Mar 17, 2014

"Minimojo is an emulation of the Minimoog built in Reaktor, available for all registered product owners in the NI Reaktor User Library. http://www.native-instruments.com/en/...

The Minimojo is not in any way a copy of MONARK. The builder did not have access to or ever used MONARK during the making of Minimojo. Instead, the old ensemble Minimood made by NI in 1999, which has then been modified by several users, has been used as the starting point. The basic structure is be recognizable from that early ensemble.
As the Minimoog is the most emulated synthesizer the world probably don't need yet another one. Minimojo should first of all be seen as a proof of concept; how to emulate the should of vintage synthesizers using the Reaktor environment.

The technology developed for this is called Analog Legacy. Analog Legacy is the theory of modulating all functions in a synthesizer at all frequencies to emulate the sound of vintage synthesizers. The key is to find the right balance of the modulation depth for each frequency. Minimojo is the first attempt to use this theory in practice."

New LushOne Echo Module

via Lushprojects.com where you'll find some audio demos.

"The LushOne Echo module provides highly flexible delay and echo effects. All key parameters can be set manually or manipulated using a control voltage. With the LushOne echo you can simulate room echoes or create space-age effects. The LushOne Echo also contains an envelope generator which produces a control voltage based on the amplitude of the input signal.

The LushOne Echo kit continues the design principles of the LushOne base. A single board design is used to keep costs low. The LushOne echo uses the popular PT2399 digital delay chip with supporting analogue circuits. The PT2399 is a really fun chip. At long delays it gets noisy and creates a lo-fi roughness to the sound. At medium and short delays it has a nice, natural quality. The ability to vary the delay on-the-fly and with a control voltage allows it to create space-age swoops and zaps as well as more normal static delay effects.

The LushOne Echo can be added to any level of the LushOne system. It can be used with just the LushOne Base or integrated in to a bigger system. The audio sample below shows how even with just the LushOne Base and LushOne Echo you can create some amazing sounds.

The LushOne Echo provides:
Echo effect
Add echo effects to any input signal
Adjustable input sensitivity level
Adjustable level of original input in the output
Adjustable level of echo in the output with voltage control
Adjustable level of feedback in the echo circuit with voltage control
Adjustable delay with voltage control
Exponential response on delay control for ease of use
Internal or external feedback switch which allows extra processing functions to be inserted in the feedback loop using the Send/Return connections
Power-on protection circuit so that the PT2399 chip can be run at its shortest possible delay without damage
Envelope generator
Create control voltage based on amplitude of input signal
Allows effects to respond to volume level of a sound
Single board design including all controls and connectors (except power-in) providing straightforward construction and neat presentation. A laser cut case is available that contains the LushOne base and the Inca or it can easily be housed in a project box.
Open-source access to schematics

The LushOne Echo is straightforward to build but it does have quite a high component count. It is recommended that you have some experience in building electronics before starting on this kit."

"This is a fully working unit. The knobs are original factory, though later knob style changed. Later units had colored knobs...

Manufacturer Description:
The bC8 is probably the smallest production synthesizer in the world and certainly the cutest.

Packed into the bC8's tiny round body is a hand-assembled gold plated circuit board, eight high-quality potentiometers, a stereo jack socket, push-button, no less than four LED's, battery holder (3xAAA cells) with a robust stainless steel base.

Sophisticated digitally based oscillators are housed on the DSP as well as an innovative recording system and internal control voltage patching. Choose between single-shot and repetitive envelope generator modes; use the separate ATTACK and RELEASE knobs to create long and soulful drones; select the recording system to record and playback complex patterns of control knob movement, speed up or slow down the pattern playback to add extra glide detail or confusion, override any of the controls during playback to adapt, complicate or simplify your composition.

The bC8's VCO goes from the subsonic to the upper end of human hearing, introduce subtle amounts of modulation from the LFO or envelope generator to create gentle vibratos or progressively wind in more than 700% modulation for almost impossible-to-predict and perhaps never-heard-before sounds. VCO is capable of 'thru-zero' modulation (frequencies run backwards).

To sum up: Eight LFO and four VCO morphing waveshapes, 128 different patchings, deep modulation options, wide ranging ATTACK/DECAY envelope generator and recording sequencer in a hand-built-by-one-man-in-a-tiny-factory-in-England - pocket sized - self powered - round package carefully machined from high-quality plastic.

The bC8 recorder records each knob position when the button is pressed and released, as well as the duration of the button press and the time between presses, when playing back each of the recorded positions is replayed with a smooth glide between values.

bC8 technical details:
70mm (2.75") diameter - coke can size
52mm (2") tall
8 knobs
4 LED's (2 green, 2 red)
128 patch types (VCO/LFO/VCA/EG patching, including inverted EG types, and chaining EG>LFO>VCO, etc...), Modulation depth control
0 to 700%+ thru. zero VCO
VCO frequency from ~20Hz to 8KHz+
FM (linear) & LOG modulation
LFO rate from ~30mHZ to ultrasonic (24+ octaves)
8 LFO waveshapes (incl. random/noise and staircases)
500+ event sequencer with variable speed playback, overide ability and control knob intelligent gliding.
Morphable VCO waveshapes
3 AAA cells (NiMh or Alkaline), Stereo headphone amplifier
Envelope Generator (Attack/Decay knobs) ranging from 1ms-20secs, Single shot, Repeat or Record/Playback modes."

"State of the art" - on Elka X-30

Published on Mar 17, 2014 organfairy·414 videos

Interesting formant type sound at :59. Similar vibe to Gyote's Somebody That I Used to Know.

"'State of the Art' is a song by Australian singer-songwriter (I hate that expression - what's wrong with 'composer') Gotye. It is actually a homage to the Lowrey Cotillion D575 organ - though I don't really understand why they put a number after the name as I understand that this was the only Cotillion.

Anyway.

In the 1970's it was common that whenever there was a song on the charts then it was a matter of time before there was also an organ version of it. Therefore I have sort of completed the circle by making an organ version of a song about an organ. I don't have a Cotillion so I used my Elka X-30 which is from the same era and many of the presets sounds quite similar.

And if mr De Backer doesn't like my version he can consider it as revenge for 'Somebody that I used to know'!"
