Oberheim 4 Voice For Sale

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via MATRIXSYNTH CLASSIFIEDS

"The Oberheim 4 voice is a very impressive analog synth that was developed based on the Oberheim SEM stand alone synthmodules. Oberheim made the 4 Voice from around 1975 to 1979.

The 4 voice is a massive sounding synth with a huge analog polyphonic sound. It has an amazing multimode filter that always sounds great. Playing this synth and panning the voices in stereo sending thru a Mutron Bipahse or other nice stereo effect is just incredible ! In unisono mode you’ll hear a bass sound thats not from this planet.

4 independent LFO’s + one master LFO for pitch, 8 Oscillators, 4 multimode Filters, …. everything you need.

The Fourvoice we have for sale is in great condition and plays great. It has some normal age related wear, a few little scratches in the tolex, nothing dramatic. We won’t retolex this synth cause the tolex is still in nice shape and a little bit of patina suits the unit well. All pots and switches work as they should and the unit is exactly calibrated to factory specs. The unit stays in tune and the keyboard is not worn out.

It’s a pleasure to play this synth and probably a great investment that will keep it’s value.

The unit works under 110V but we can upgrade it to 220V if this is preferred by the new owner.

The unit has mini-jack CV / Gate inputs on the front panel, just above each SEM voice."

part 7: the percussive bass synthesizer sound "Don`t Go" from Yazoo.

very important is the VCO waveform (square, triangel) and the envelope settings with short decay.

this is no cover song. only a sound demo. ;) try it!

unfortunately it came to a few disturbing noises during the recording. the output level was a bit too high. ;-)

E102 Quad Temporal Shifter - Noise Demo #1

Published on May 8, 2014 John L Rice·262 videos

"Extremely long and boring to most! Demo to allow people to hear the types of noise produced by the soon to be released Synth Tech E102 module.

Due to lack of time and family concerns I didn't take the time to put text in to describe what I was doing/using in the various sections but basically:
At times I modulate the noise spectrum with a Synth Tech E355 LFO, WMD MultiMode Envelope and Mattson/Division 6 SQ816 sequencer and usually attenuating the modulation with a Malekko 8NU8R. Sometiles I'll dial in a bunch of reverb from a TC Electronic Hall Of Fame reverb pedal.

Note: this is a prototype, the production version will have a nicer looking panel and be labeled correctly. Also note that the hand written label correction is also incorrect! ;-) The CV input jack I'm using is indeed the Noise CV input.

I'll do a 'Noise Demo #2' that will be shorter and mainly focus on using the noise output to modulate other modules. (and it will be a lot shorter too! ;-)"

"Found footage! I was going through my camera and found a couple of videoz of circuit bent past projects/tests. Here we have 15 oscillators (for this one, probably 6 or 9 out of 15) and the speak & math going through a passive ring modulator. Noisy and harsh. No more skulls for a while after this one ;-)"

via this auction

via the seller: "I purchased this back when Adam's Dog was a Pup more years ago than I care to remember.

It has sat in an Attic since.

I know very little about them so all I can tell you is below.

It powers up and after some button pressing and Fader sliding BINGO got NOISE... I could not say it was tuneful because it wasn't

Now the Sliders on the left of the keyboard are very STIFF to move and One has the stalk stuck in the slot.

The Faders above the keyboard are also stiff but not so much and one is missing a fader cover and another fader cover is split. It still hangs on by the skin of its teeth but it needs gluing.

All the LED light up above the buttons that have them as shown in the pictures/

Like I said it makes noise so I think with some restoration and some TLC someone into these things could have it back to fully working."

Not the best pics of the SY-1, but the "Guide To Your Yamaha Solo Synthesizer SY-1" is not something you see often. This might be the first time an image of it has been featured on the site. The one thing I always pay attention to is how companies marketed their products. Note the design - colors, graphics and font.  Is this how Yamaha launched their first synth?

"This very rare Yamaha SY-1 vintage analog synthesizer, is the first compact/portable analog synth produced by Yamaha in 1974."

Kraftwerk on Meeting Bob Moog

This one in via Brian Kehew.

I thought the following was pretty great. It's at the end of a rare interview with Kraftwerk's Ralf Hütter on the Miami New Times.

"Before you leave, may I ask you what influence Moog has had on your music?

We met him when we were recording a TV show in Los Angeles back in '75 and Mr. Moog was there. We used a monophonic Minimoog -- we didn't have the budget for the larger one -- but he, of course, knew that already. What he didn't know was that meeting the machine's inventor was one of the true highlights of our lives."

Update: below is an image of Kraftwerk from 1976 via Wikipedia's page for Trans Europe Express.  You can see the Minimoog as well as a couple of ARP Odysseys.  Curios what that is in the background left.

Update2 via Steven in the comments: "It's a Synthanorma sequencer (by Matten & Wiechers).

The Electric Music Box - Sketches Volume 1: The Solo Parts

"'The Electric Music Box - Sketches Volume 1: The Solo Parts' is a project that uses the new Buchla Music Easel as its only sound source. Except for "The Clone Drones" all songs are generated with just the Music Easel. No additional sequencers, external effects or multitracking were used. Just a bit of mastering with Equalizer and mono->stereo enhancement.

But this is in no way meant to be an Easel "Demo". You will encounter much more of the dark and haunting Weinglas style in this release than you will find your usual bass or solo synthesizer sounds.

So lean back and enjoy the darkness! But beware of lots of high and low frequencies! So don't turn your amp to eleven!

And be warned: This project is about to be continued. So watch out for Volume 2!

Btw: On Youtube here you can find lots of videos for this release!

Vintage 1977 KORG M 500 SP ANALOG MICRO PRESET SN 800209

via this auction

"Here's a synopsis::::::This 32-note monophonic preset synthesizer had 6 push-button presets ("voice", "synthe 1", "synthe 2", "brass", "string", and "wood" as in woodwind) and a five octave switch. If you pressed two buttons at the same time, those two presets would mix. There were controls for attack and "sustain" (decay/release), VCF, modulation depth, modulation speed, and portamento speed (as well as a lever to switch the portamento on or "momentary"). The SP version of the synth had a small built in speaker. Super versatile little synth ! Fat lows, soaring highs, and everything in between.

Fully functional !! There's one slight flaw I found with it:::::When switching the knob between voices, it can OCCASIONALLY glitch slightly, on only a couple of the presets. This is remedied by simply giving the knob a very slight twist, without changing the voice, which seems like it could be easily fixed with a little cleaning of the pots. The only other real flaw is the Portamento switch is missing, but is still fully functional, and can be turned on/off with ease.

Cosmetically, it's shows light general wear and tear, but is still in great shape. The pics speak for themselves. Dried glue from the sheet music holder still remains on the top, which I'm sure could be easily remedied."

HGSounds Kosmology FreeFall Sequencer Now Available

See this post for full videos.

via HGSounds (full description captured for the archives):

"FreeFall is a completely Free version of the powerful Kosmology Sequencing System, which uses 110 Sampled Instruments collected from current Kosmology and Kosmos products to offer a free entry point into the world of Kosmology. Kosmology provides 8 completely separate instances which can be switched in real-time via a specified set of Midi notes. Each instance uses 2 synths with independent Filters, has 7 sequencers with independent clock divides and step amounts as well as 48 assignable parameters. The workflow is enhanced by lots of useful options such as copying, pasting and randomizing and a single instance can be copied to all Instances or to a specific instance. The idea is that you set up the 8 instances and then play them as an instrument as you would with any synthesizer, they are even polyphonic.

Moog 1130 Percussion Controller First Test...

Published on May 8, 2014 noddyspuncture·77 videos

"Here is the video of my very first Moog 1130 Percussion Controller test after restoring it and putting it into a playing condition. There were a lot of part missing when I got this, mainly hardware - luckily, when I eventually fired it all up, the main circuit board was functioning as it should. There's still a bit to do - and I have installed a temporary switch that changes over or 'flips' the two CV outputs to the pitch & filter. You can see me using it from time to time. The 1130 controller basically has two CV outputs - one is fixed at full level and the other is controllable via a potentiometer. It occurred to me that it might be an interesting modification to be able to flip that over at will, instead of swapping the jack plugs. In this video I am controlling both my Modular and the built-in Minimoog. I am still trying to decide if I want to drill a hole and fit it permanently...!? I think I might - I do like to modify all my gear. I also recorded the audio directly but couldn't sync it up with this video so all we have here is the crappy camera microphone. If you want to hear the better audio please go to my SoundCloud upload: https://soundcloud.com/q-uazimodo03/m..."

Grayscale Algorhythm-Binary-Reticulating Rhythms Patch

Grayscale Algorhythm-Binary-Reticulating Rhythms Patch from Richard Devine on Vimeo.

"This patch was derived from the 'Endless Random patch' from the 'Algorhythm' manual. The main clock source was the Delptronics 'Trigger' man, taking output 1 and sending into the clock input on the first Algorhythm (left side). I then set the mode for each of the 'Algorhythm' modules to 'RAND', patching out from the clock output then into the next Algorhythm's clock input so that all three where synced to the same master clock.

The idea was to take the 8 pulse outputs and send them to other sequencers and dividers/multipliers to create morphing ever changing rhythms. The 'TriggerMan' sequencer has 8 different stored kick drum/gate patterns that would set the pulse times for all three Algorhythm modules. I wanted the clock time to always shift around, so I set one output from the Modcan Quad LFO in random stepped output into the CV control input on Trigger man (LFO 3). The Output 1 from Trigger man was split and sent to the 4ms Quad Clock Distributor input 'CLK IN' set as the master for all 4 other outputs. Second output was sent to the trigger input on Braids running in 'CLKN' mode for the synthetic hi-hats. CV output LFO 4 from the Modcan Quad LFO sent to the Division/Multi CV input on the QCD. The third output from the 4ms QCD was sent to the first LFO gate input and I then set the Quad LFO into 'Phase lock' mode which synchronizes the phase of all 4 LFOs waveforms but allows the frequency to be a division of the master LFO 1. LFO output 1 was sent to the Intellijel Shapeshifter pitch input. Output 2 was sent to the 1/volt input on the Qu-Bit Nebulæ. Output 4 was sent to the MakeNoise ErbVerb Decay control input. Output 3 stackable cable sent to the addac systems 101 .wave play into the CV loop size control input.

Output 1 from the first Algorhythm sent to the clock input on the Macro Machines storage strip, which is changing the preset snapshots of the Mungo d0 dual delay module. The 7th switch output Algorhythm number two (center) is pulsing the trigger input on the Snazzy Effects Ardcore, running custom 'Frac Drums' sketch. Dac output is being processed by the Mungo d0. The 7th switch output from Algorhythm number 1, (left side) clock input into the MakeNoise WoggleBug. Second output was sent to the trigger input on Braids running in 'CLKN' mode for the synthetic hi-hats. Kick drum was triggered by the second output on Trigger man to the Tiptop BD 808. Second switched output from Algorhythm number 2 (middle position), sent to the strike input on the MakeNoise Mysteron, creating the sporadic metallic delay percussion sounds. Output switch 3 from the first Algorhythm sent to the 'Next' sample file on the Qu-Bit Nebulæ. Switching through 8 different sample loops of processed fragments of sounds created in Reaktor. The switch output 2 from the third Algorhythm sent to the strike input on the MakeNoise Optomix, signal fed in from the output of the Shapeshifter then sent to the Audio Damage Freq Shifter, slow slight modulation from one Intellijel Dixie into the Shift input. Then finally sent to input 4 on the Submix7 mixer. Stepped output into right side 'exp' input on the MakeNoise DPO then sent to bottom input on the Optomix from the final output, being striked by the random clock burst out. This output is then being sent through the MakeNoise Phonogene, where the 'Rec' input is being triggered by output 4 from the QCD, and the Gene Size input control modulated by the stepped output from the WoggleBug.

The main sound source for broken drums coming from the addac systems 101.wave player. For this I saved 10 versions of the same loop, and did slightly different processing to each loop. I then went into each loop and inserted silence in different sections to create more broken patterns and playback. Drum loops 3, 6, and 8 had heavy delay feedback processing to breakup the repetitions with bursts of delay feedback effects throughout the rhythmic sequences. The output was split into two sources. One output was sent to a Intellijel HexVCA being erratically controlled by the envelope follower output on the .wav player. The VCA on the ADDAC player was also being controlled by the stepped random out on the Wogglebug. The output was then sent into the Eventide Space reverb pedal for the random throws into reverb. The other output was sent into the second input on the SubMix7 mixer as the clean unprocessed channel. The white noise coming from the SSF Quantum Rainbow running into channel number 2 on the Intellijel HexVCA then being modulated by a intellijel Dixie, ZigZag output, running at slow rates, and then re-synced by the 8th switched output on the Algorhythm. The left side Binary module was clocked by the output one stackable cable from the 4ms QCD. Logic output was then sent to the Chaos input on the Wogglebug interjecting random in time clusters of pulses.

Digital Warrior sequencer Shruthi Jam

Published on May 8, 2014 Tomash Ghzegovsky·38 videos

"Small jam session with the Digital Warrior, Mutable Instruments Shruthi 1 and Volca Beats. The Digital Warrior is in standalone mode, acting as the clock master and melodic sequencer for the other devices.

Giving control over octave, note and velocity for each step, as well as tying steps for a note hold. Also the ability to independently change the length of each of the 16 sequences can be used to create interesting polyrhythmic loops.

A computer was used only to record the sound and apply a basic reverb effect.

Critter & Guitari Melody Mill with Cwejman QMMF-4

"00:00 - The Critter and Guitari Melody Mill is driving the Cwejman D-LFO as a dual oscillator, and two pinging channels of the Cwejman QMMF-4. The Melody Mill's trigger out is pinging a Mutable Instruments Tides and Cwejman CTG-VC for envelopes. The 4 voices are mixed in the Mutable Instruments Frames.

00:35 An arpeggio sequence has been recorded into the Critter and Guitari Melody Mill which is sequencing the Cwejman D-LFO as dual oscillators, and pinging 2 channels of the Cwejman QMMF-4 in RES mode. The Melody Mill's trigger out is pinging a Mutable Instruments Tides and Cwejman CTG VC for envelopes. The Cwejman PH-4 is frequency modulating the Tides which oscillates from control to audio rate. We manually tweak the Melody Mill's clock speed, arpeggiation range, and pattern."

Audio cables. I was going to post this on MATRIXSYNTH-B, but thought it would be a good opportunity to mention "In the absence of expression" by MIDERA again. If you haven't checked it out yet, do it. The entire release was composed on a Roland MC-303. It shows you what many underrated and sometimes dismissed as lesser synths can be capable of. It's all about sound in the end. All synths have something to offer.

VINTAGE 1979 KORG X-911 GUITAR SYNTHESIZER SN 271381

"The guitar synthesizer which united the synthesizer with very high operativity with the function which decomposes the audio signal of a guitar and changes into the control signal of a synthesizer compactly.

Without using a guitar for exclusive use, a pickup, etc., X-911 can obtain change of the tone which only connects an electric guitar and is not obtained by an effector like a general effector and various special effects, as long as it performs by a single sound.

From musical instrument sound, such as a base, a trumpet, a violin, and a flute, to synthesizer sound, it can mix each tone and it not only can choose 11 kinds of tones by one-touch, but can compound no less than 2,047 kinds of tones.

Moreover, also the thing which the pitch of X-911 is changed in real time with a foot switch to 1 octave of upper and lower sides, and is done for three parallel and five unison performances by only one person to the pitch of an electric guitar.

Control with a foot switch is possible also for the portamento effect and a hold facility."

"The Six Trak is rich 6-voice analog poly synth with an optional mono/unison mode that stacks all 6 voices. Its sounds are similar to other Sequential Circuits synths in that is uses Curtis chips. There is one knob to adjust parameters that are selectable via number pad and referencing the graph printed on the front panel. It is capable of an array of useful leads, basses, pads, and effects. Nowadays there are MIDI programmers for Ipad or PC that add real time programmability. The Six Trak has up to 100 memory slots for storing your patches and features a 6 track, 800 note onboard sequencer with 2 banks for songs--not the most expansive but fun for sound doodling. One of the most interesting features is "Stack Mode". In this feature you can assign up to 6 different patches to one g i a n t sounding monophonic patch, a feature that is not found in any other synthesizer of its time and class."

via the seller: "The unit turns on but the output level appears to be very low, I thought I didn't hear anything at the start but noticed that it was actually producing small sound as I turned the volume right up to 10. It seems like all the keys are producing sound with all the switches and sliders responding as they should, it could possibly only be an issue with some of the contacts on the pots and switches, but I'm selling this AS IS for you to use with some servicing done."

Hopefully we'll see this one back in working condition. Remember, you can search on serial numbers on the site.

via the seller: "This was bought from a professional studio musician. It was just fully gone over and serviced by Dean of 5 Star DJ Center in Mesa Arizona, Dean the the most highly regarded Synth repair person in the west. This synth is in amazing condition and plays great. All knobs, switches, and keys are really smooth. Just Tuned and Calibrated, sounds great.

This is the Old Oscillator Board, and it sounds VERY Fat. The Pitch and Mod wheels are the older Smooth plastic kind. This Minimoog is in amazing condition and is extremely reliable. It has been well cared for. This is the one that you have been looking for. The front black panels and Moog badges still have the protective manufacturer plastic attached.

Includes a custom made, like new Anvil ATA Flight Case."
