Korg DW-8000 with Roland SH-101 and Boss DR-110 jamsession

"First of all: sorry for the poor video quality. I had no sufficient available ligth today. In this small improvisation I triggered my SH-101 through my DR-110 and played also the DW-8000. For the synths I used the internal delay which I routed through my BOSS CE-2w and from there in stereo to my Strymon BIG SKY. So the Korg and the SH shared the same FX settings. The BOSS DR-110 got a bit EQ from Logic Pro X. Thats all. Thanks for watching!"

Multi-tracking a modular into a 4-track

"so, this weeks AE modular challenge was X, the number 10... to celebrate it being the 10th challenge!

I decided that to meet this challenge, Id create 10 patches on the AE modular, so the track would be solely made on the AE modular.
Obviously, I needed to multi-track to do this, but decided to stay away from the computer...

Instead, I decided to use a Tascam 244, that I had bought and repaired a few months back,
and whilst Ive used it a bit before, I wanted to challenge myself with it....

... creating 10 tracks on a 4-track, seemed like a good idea at the time ;)

perhaps unsurprisingly, this turned out to be a bit more of a challenge than I expected!
the workflow was not that difficult, its a matter of just keeping track of which tracks are your 'masters',
and so which tracks you have to record on, and the Tascam 244's EQ is really useful!.

it all started ok...
Id create a patch, play it live, record it.
rinse and repeat,
when I ran out of tracks, Id usually bounce and record at the same time.
cool...

but about half way thru, it became apparent, with a 4-track you really need to have a plan :)

you are continually having to commit on things like levels and EQ (to free up tracks),
but I wasn't even sure where the track was heading or what the next patches (so sounds) might be.

... and even half way thru, I had a pretty dense track!

so next time, I'll defintely think it thru first, Ideally have some kind of 'timeline' in my head, so that there are spaces to slot new things in, to let the track breath a bit.

but it was a lot of fun, and I definitely learnt a few things along the way,

I look forward to giving it another ago some time soon :)"

This module was made by Russian engineering mastermind S3n0Я (Senor) with the hats made by Ryk TheKreator. I bought this off happily for exactly what I am selling it for from Russian synth wizard Fedor Vetkalov.

Fedor uses synths with the like of Depeche Mode among others. This is what Fedor had to say about Senor's modules - "his modules are the most amazing and I heard all of them"

He loved this module and tested it against an authentic Tr-909 concluding "the ummod kick, snare are almost 100% identical to the 909 hats are different.

I know it's been a little while since my last upload, but I finally got around to some jamming. 😉 Here is a hardware session I through together using a couple of Volcas, some boutiques, and the Beatstep Pro to tie it all together. For this session, I have the Beatstep pro sequencing both boutiques and the Volca Sample. The entire jam was built off the JU-06 pattern along with some nice pads from the Volca Keys. I kept the bass sequence simple, brought in some drums using the Volca Sample, and then added a bit more movement to the jam using the Volca FM's arpeggiator.

"MISO is a multipurpose utility module, a laboratory for synthesizing control voltage signals and audio. MISO combines multiple CV tools into one module for making complex CV shapes at the output stage. The name comes from the the four main functions available: Mix, Invert, Scale, and Offset.

MISO’s 2 sections (1/2 IN and A/B IN) are identical. Each section has 2 inputs that can be used to Mix signals, Invert polarity/shape, Scale magnitude and Offset voltage. Each function can be used independently or simultaneously with the total shape summed to the mix output.

At the center of the module is another processor, an accurate smooth linear voltage-controlled crossfader that mixes equally between the outputs of the top and the bottom MISO sections. Feed the MISOs with envelopes, LFOs, Sequences to create new shapes and then crossfade them manually or with CV using the center section for even further complexity of shapes and animation of control signals. Crossfade between the waveforms of a VCO or audio samples with CV for more motion.

There are an endless number of ways to patch MISO with unexpected and inspiring results. MISO is the kind of module that gives modular synthesizers its incredible replay value, rewarding hours of creative explorations and its experimental and non-traditional mixing.

"In this video I did exploration about famous Mutable Instruments Clouds module. I did it in VCV Rack and you can easily see every 11 tricks in detail.
"Clouds is a granular audio processor like no other.
Clouds is focused on the realtime granularization of incoming audio signals, and their transformation into amorphous textures.
Grains of adjustable size, pitch and envelope, are extracted at controllable time offsets from the input signal. Grains are seeded randomly, periodically, or whenever the module receives a trigger.
The textures generated by Clouds are extremely thick, partly because of the large number of concurrent grains (up to 60), partly because of a built-in allpass diffuser and reverberator, smearing the shortest transient into a wash of noise - giving the illusion of an even larger number of simultaneous grains.

"Hvad gør vi nu lille du" (~ What now, little one) is a song by one of the two most popular bands in Denmark ever: Gasolin' (with an apostrophe) whose popularity in their heyday was similar to that of the Beatles. This means that attempting to make an instrumental cover of one of their songs is bound to get me a lot of negative comments - maybe even death threats. So if I suddenly in the near future stop posting videos it is probably because I have been brutally murdered.....
