'Heatwave' - Minimal Eurorack Modular Jam/performance/improvisation

Published on Jul 28, 2019 DreamsOfWires

"Minimal Eurorack Modular Jam/improvisation. Patch breakdown: 1st sound- 3 AJH VCO's, one of which being manually transposed by a Keystep. This is mixed in the Ring SM then sent to the Gemini filter. 2nd sound - The FC White Face filter is being used as a sine wave oscillator, it's pitch is being controlled by a Korg SQ-1 and sent to both the Ladder Filter and the Sonic XV. Gate out from the SQ-1 is triggering the sample & hold on the FC Waver Runner, which is patched to the wave shaping on the Sonic XV. 3rd sound - the White Face is sent to the Ladder filter, and pitch from the Keystep is sent to the filter's frequency input. The filter is self-resonating and pitched to mirror the main melodic VCO, whilst also allowing a little of the other melody (SQ-1) through the filter.

From the Live Room 3: Roland SH2 and Novation Bass Station II

Published on Jul 28, 2019 Alfonse

"Live jam featuring Ian Bostic on drums and Alfonse on the Novation Bass Station II, as well as the classic Roland SH2 monosynth from 1979. With the tuning of VCO2 going a bit unexpectedly wild on the original jam, I ditched the SH2 bassline and re-recorded it on the Bass Station afterwards, followed by a subtle and understated lead part using the SH2, with effects provided by the Boss CH-1 Super-Chorus pedal and Boss DD7 and Vestax DDX digital delay pedals. Some additional reverb was added to the synths at the mixing stage.

Alesis Fusion 6HD Keyboard Synthesizer

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"The Alesis Fusion is a synthesizer workstation packed with features for the modern keyboardist. Released in 2005, Alesis managed to cram four powerful synthesis engines and an 8-track, 24-bit hard disk recorder into the Fusion's sleek, silver frame. The types of synthesis on offer include Sample Playback, FM, Virtual Analog (VA) and Physical Modeling

The Sample Playback engine lets you create four oscillator patches from either ROM multisamples or your own custom samples. Your samples can be recorded in through the dedicated stereo port, or loaded in via compact flash/USB(40 or 80 GB). Import of WAV and SoundFont is supported, opening up a massive world of sounds. 64MB of RAM, expandable to 192MB, plenty for most sound design and live applications. Your samples can then be shaped using the Fusion's plethora of filter types, envelopes, and its massive mod matrix – nearly anything can be routed anywhere!
The six-operator FM engine can give you those DX-type sounds, full of character. The VA engine is very powerful, with many similarities to the Ion/Micron line! There are three oscillators with multiple wave shapes, FM, Sync, PWM and 20 different filter types including lowpass, bandpass, highpass and a 4-band EQ for every patch. The Physical Modeling section includes both a Wind and a Reed model, and while not amazingly realistic, they can be abused to create some very strange pads!"

2019/07 - Sahara Pulse

Published on Jul 28, 2019 Stereoping

"Starting out as a simple testsong for a midified TR-606 in a custom case, this midi-arrangement exercise went somehow oriental and even epic in the end. The solo is played by the PULScar with slight realtime modulations to bring some live into the sound. Finally found the time to make a neat sticker for the frontpanel. The ensemble also contains a modded Alesis HR-16 with custom EPROMS holding oriental percussion. The big knob is for downpitching the whole machine, demoed at 3:52. Other gear: Roland Juno 6 (Bass) & JV1080 (Strings, Brass), Kawai K4 (Brass) and the Waldorf Microwave (.. well, some synth sound). Footage shows the realtime sound editing, some fotos, studio flyovers and score screengrabs."

omsonic & dBs Music - Stochastic Inspiration Generator - COMING SOON !

Published on Jul 28, 2019 omsonic

"COMING SOON ! The Stochastic Inspiration Generator ! Its a unique module that responds to your probabilistic musical direction but you don’t play ‘on’ it, you duet with it by starting with the fundamental musical atoms and controlling how likely different pitch, duration, octave and transition events will be using its controls."

via Omsonic:

"What Is It ?

not a traditional sequencer – it doesn’t repeat itself (unless you tell it to!)
not a probability sequencer – you don’t program fixed steps for variation
not a random source – you can control what it will do (within limits)
not a chaotic source – identical initial conditions don’t produce identical output

Stochastic is an Inspiration Generator ! Its a unique sequencer module that responds to your probabilistic musical direction but you don’t play ‘on’ it, you duet with it by starting with the fundamental musical atoms and controlling how likely different pitch, duration, octave and transition events will be using its controls.

Overview

Each event Stochastic generates has its pitch, octave, duration, onset, offset, portamento and ratchet set by probability controls. You can exert as much or as little control over what the next event will be as you wish. This could be very simple (e.g. raise C, E, G and 1/16 to 100% and you have a random arpeggiator kicking out constant 1/16 ) or something much more interesting…

Stochastic leverages tonal harmony by exploiting its statistical hierarchy of pitches: some notes turn up a lot, some not so much, some not at all. Being ‘in’ C Major means having lots of Cs, quite a lot of Gs and Es, a few Fs, some Ds, As and Bs, but no C#s, D#s, F#s, G#s, A#s. Set the note probabilities accordingly and Stochastic will spontaneously jam in C Major. Shift the probabilities, and you morph the tonality, key or mode they define into new tonal landscapes.

Synth DIY - Wiring the Thomas Henry Quad Bass++

Published on Jul 27, 2019 Sergio Gonzalez

"This is an update video at about halfway through the process. At this point its common for fatigue to set in, but hopefully you'll get some encouragement from this video to keep at it. In a project like this you're likely to find situations that the instructions have no advice for, like how to connect all the ground wires together properly, or connecting a capacitor across two pots without a PCB for structure. It's easy to get stuck at this point and give up on the project, but try to just use what techniques you do know to find a solution and move forward."
