Synthetic World 859 was recently featured in a Sequential Artist Spotlight Interview (previously posted here)

"I wrote this Debussy-inspired piece specifically for the Prophet 6 after the vintage mode update came out. Headphones recommended! In the first section I use the stereo field to create a sonic drone orb. The second section is improvisational, leaning on a minor 6/9 chord into a major 7(#11). The third is variations on a lovey motif.

I really don't know anything about classical music, but this is where my ear lead me this time. Hope you enjoy it.

"@SoftubeStudios​ has just released their new synth, "Model 84" and I'm really excited about it! In essence, it is a highly detailed recreation of the Juno-106. They had me design some of the factory presets for the synth and in this video, I constructed a song using only the Model 84 synthesizer (except for the drum samples). This synth is super fun and easy to use, and just sounds great right out of the box. I hope you enjoy my Synthwave-y tune "Delorean Fantasy" in this video.

"Incredible, immaculate, fully restored example of this very rare and beautiful instrument.

Completely rebuilt by Lyricon guru David O'Brien in 2020.

It is different from all others in that all the knobs have been replaced with ones that are readable in low light and can be manipulated quickly with one hand while working the horn with the other. They are knobs that are designed for use in aircraft and serve well here.

All of the original literature, instructions, and rare blueprints/schematics are included. These are necessary to understand the horn and to learn to use it well.

Very hard to find a better example of this instrument."

Turning Reverbs into HARSH Instruments with Feedback

"Manipulating feedback loops is one of the most interesting ways to explore sound, and reverb is one of the most evocative effects for placing sounds in space. Thus, curious minds are certainly wondering: what happens when you use reverb effects with feedback techniques?

In this video, Jacob gives a rundown of some of his favorite ways to use reverb pedals in feedback loops, and allowing the effect to become an instrument in itself. Touching on topics like no-input mixing, adding Eurorack modules to the mix, and strange convolution, this video aims to serve as a springboard for trying out reverbs of all kinds in ways you might not expect.

Specifically, we highlight these tricks with the Red Panda Context, the Strymon Night Sky, the Gamechanger Audio Light Pedal, and the Poly Effects Beebo, but we encourage you to try these patches with any and all reverbs you might have hanging around the studio. After all, this video is all about experimentation, and these ideas are meant to be explored, expanded upon, and inviting you to embark on new sonic journeys.

"This was my final project for the Berklee College of Music's Electronic Production and Design major. The module still needs a bit of work, but hopefully it'll be actually done in a month or two. It's been a crazy ride!

There's at least one major simplification in this video: I did not mention the DMC channel at all. It's a bit more challenging to implement, so I haven't gotten to it yet. However, for the final product, it will definitely be implemented, since you can do some really cool stuff with it.

Another note: probably a better high-performance MCU to bring up would be the STM32. Why wouldn't I use it? Well, because then I can't make my own CPU. That's no fun. Okay, for real though, while this project may not necessarily need an FPGA, I have other ideas that more or less do. It was definitely a great way to get comfortable with the process.
