"The Oberheim Matrix 1000 has been around since 1988, but did you know that it can be polychained with up to 5 other units?!? This is not a simple MIDI In/Thru setup... One unit must set as the master and then distributes the incoming note data evenly between itself and each of the slaves. Matrix 6 and 6Rs can join the party too, but only as slave units.

"Ho-Ho-Ho! This is Synthmas '21, the virtual calendar presenting a Christmas carol played by synthesizers - every day from 1st to 24th of December.

The song:
The American Christmas carol was composed by Katherine K. Davis in 1941 titled 'The Carol of the Drum'. It might trace to a czech carol 'Hajej, nynjej'. Countless cover versions were done by famous artists, including Ray Charles, Neil Diamond, Jimi Hendrix and Joan Baez. The song tells the story of a poor boy giving his drum play as a gift to the new born Jesus.

The gear:
The song is played by the Electron Model:Samples. Groove box might be the best description for this sample-based instrument. Samples can be arranged in 6 tracks. The pattern based sequencer can contain up to 4.096 steps (per "project" or song). I divided the songs into 10 different patterns that I switch by hand. Bass drum is a factory sample, snare drum is a sample from a 909. For the bass and lead voice/s I used factory samples of square and sawtooth waves with some filter modulation. On Model:Samples there are some neat sound manipulation features: the drum roll is created with a retrig function. The pitch of a sample can variate trig (= step) -wise, thus melodies can be formed on one and the same track.

"The next Genesis video in the series. Tonight Tonight Tonight is one of my favorite Genesis songs too.
Like usual it`s a cover and not original at all. It`s my interpretation of this song. Not a exact copy! When you will hear the original song than click on the original song.

I used The DX7 for the main synth sound and the pads.
The deep bass is the MOOG TAURUS bass pedals.
The drum sound is the Simmons SDS, Linndrum and EII samples."

"This one is a highly sought after Made in USA model.. with the uber rare XK controller which features a very musical arpeggiator designed for the Xpander. The arpeggiator can clock internally or externally via midi! Also included is the original manual and Data Cassette. PLUS both the Xpander and the XK come with heavy duty hard road cases! Perfect for getting these prized classics to you safely! Both Xpander and XK controller work perfectly.. its important to note that most Xpanders by this point have issues with the knob encoders and panel buttons.. THIS Xpander does NOT have those issues. ALL encoder knobs and panel buttons, and all jacks work without issues. In fact they still feel as if they were new. As you can see from the pic showing tuning tests.. Eurorack CV Modulation Recorders

"Headphones on, please. This vid leverages the stereo image as part of the demo.

Modulation recorders are handy for coordinating modulation moves with a melodic or rhythmic sequence. You could also use a full sequencer, but in many cases that's overkill. These modules do the trick without too much complexity. (Though it must be acknowledged that the Voltage Block does market itself as a sequencer of sorts.)

These four all offer at least 3 channels of cv recording. Some are limited by steps in the sequence, some by memory. Also note that the level of quantization (simplifying the smooth recorded curve into something more stairstepped) varies from module to module. Lastly, note that they output different voltage ranges, which in some cases can be customized.

All work well for their assigned purpose, no duds here.

Source audio: Dixie II+, using an Morgasmatron as the target of modulation. I added a pulse from a second Dixie II+ to give me some rhythm to move along with. Modulation with no rhythm to it sounds a bit uninteresting in this context.
