1978 RMI KC-II Keyboard Computer Synth "Digital Is Better!" Ad & Records

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

I often check out the most popular posts on the site lists. Every now and then I'll find an older post on the list like this RMI Keyboard Computer KC1 post from 2010, currently the third most popular post over the last seven days. I updated the expired auction link in the post for a generic search on RMI Keyboard Computer and up came the ad to the left as well as the records further below. You can find them listed here. You can find recordings of one of the albums previously posted here. I also found the video below featuring a few demo tracks. Enjoy. :)

Stylophone Gen X-1: Create a spacey sound with a tape loop!

video upload by Stylophone

"How to create a spacey sound with the Stylophone Gen X-1 and tape loop!

1) Use the resonance knob on the Stylophone Gen X-1 to find some interesting harmonics

2) Manipulate the filter knob of the Stylophone Gen X-1 to create a whistling effect and add richness"

"The Jupiter 6 is a fantastic analog polysynth that's a little bit of an underdog compared to its siblings the 4 and the 8! However, it is very powerful and is likely overlooked due to the immense fame of the others. Its a dual VCO 6 voice with cross mod capabilities, sync, and triangle, square and saw waveforms. The filter section includes standard low pass but also band pass and high pass operation. The filter envelope routing is not preset so envelope 1, 2, or both can be assigned to control the it! The LFO section is fully featured including a random output and onset delay. Of course there is full preset saving and plenty of performance oriented controls. The one downside is that it does not include chorus or ensemble like many of the other Roland polys! It does have the coolest color scheme and those futuristic aluminum sides though. The external analog ins include arpeggiator clock in, patch shift, pedal hold and CV for the VCA and VCF. Of course it has MIDI as well so there is tons of interfacing available.

All buttons are functioning fine and it sounds incredible as usual! Includes 2-prong AC power cable."

"This time I made multitrack recordings of the Roland SH-7 in Ableton Live, demonstrating that it can take you virtually anywhere, from dark and metallic to warm and creamy. All sounds are from the SH-7 except for the drum sounds in the first half of the video for which the Roland R8mkII was used. Parts were played live or programmed with the Dotcom Q960 or FR Revolution sequencers. The SH series can be perfectly integrated into a modular setup. While I wouldn't find the SH-7 ideal for percussion and drum sounds, the last 2 minutes of the video show that it's possible with this late 70s classic."

Korg Trident

video upload by rimela

"Multitrack recording of the Korg Trident from 1980. There is no midi and limited CV control, so this is pure hard labour jamming those keys. And it is a real joy to play this majestic synth. It’s mostly praised for its haunting strings and pads, but in my opinion it is also extremely suitable for solos, to which the very expressive joystick makes a huge contribution. The built-in flanger is a real bonus. All sounds in this video are from the Korg Trident, except for drums (Roland R8, Boss DR-110 and LoopLoft). There is a trigger input for the Brass section and CV input for the filter, which both are used in the second half."

Waver - Ambient (NDLR, Waldorf M + Analog Heat, Bigsky, Timeline, Julianna, H9, Rooms, Pill Pedal)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

These were spotted and sent in via Soviet Space Child.

"This is my 2nd video with the Waldorf - M getting in the ambient territories, after having spent a few days with this astounding wavetable synth!
I used the multitimbral mode with each of the 4 parts playing respectively the Bass, Pads, Carillon and Lead.
The 4 parts were sequenced by the Conductive Labs - NDLR which can sequence 4 tracks (which works out perfectly 😄).
I used the 4 stereo outputs of the M for this one, going through some of the coolest pedals effects I have 🤩

* Hardware used *
- Waldorf - M with the following effects for the:
- BASS: Elektron - Analog Heat Mk2 + Strymon - Bigsky
- PADS: Death by Audio - Rooms + The Pill Pedal
- CARILLON: Strymon - Timeline
- LEAD: Walrus Audio - Julianna + Eventide H9 Max"

Waves | Ambient Live Impro (Waldorf M + Death By Audio Rooms) Wavetable Multi-timbral #Jamuary2022

"Just wanted to capture and share with you the first hours I just spent discovering a new synth, the Waldorf M, 8-voice hybrid synthesizer! It's a quick live ambient jam tweaking some parameters. This synth is just 😍

I haven't read the manual yet, but managed to use the Multitimbral mode with 4 parts. Parts 2, 3 & 4 are being played by my left hand and Part 1 (arpeggio) by my right hand.

On the first part of the track, you are hearing the raw sound of the synth (without effects) and then I added some reverb with the Death by Audio Rooms pedal.

* Hardware used *
- Waldorf - M
- Death By Audio - Rooms (reverb pedal, on the second half of the track)"

Moog Matriarch: 50 Poly (Paraphonic) Patches. Sound Demo

video upload by Anton Anru

https://antonanru.sellfy.store/moog/

"Welcome to the soundset for a semi-modular synth Moog Matriarch.

'Polychrome' is a collection of 50 paraphonic presets that includes vintage strings, lo-fi keys, rich pads, warm stabs/chords, bright leads, dark drones, generative-style and FX-like timbres. The presets vary greatly from the point of view of complexity: some are simpler and will work in any track and genre, some are experimental and will make your tracks sound unique.

The soundset is suitable for ambient, electronica, techno, minimal, deep, house, progressive, trance, psy, lounge, chill out, downtempo, IDM, industrial, breaks, drum'n'bass and others.

Matriarch suggests great tools for stereo sound: two filters, independent VCAs, BBD Delay. I modulated them a lot to create wide and beautiful patches, that can be hardly recreated on other hardware (especially analog) synths. Matriarch has an absolutely fantastic feature set and I tried to intensively use it to create exclusive timbres.

The soundset is presented in the form of PDF-Document. Each page contains notes that explain how the patch works, what parameters worth tweaking during the playback, how to develop the timbre during a performance. If you make all the settings consciously and try the things mentioned in the notes, you will learn many things about the synth and discover its true depth.

Each patch has an audio example, it helps to understand how a patch is supposed to sound. No external effects on Matriarch, built-in BBD Delay only.

Vermona Perfourmer MK2 with (iOS) Fugue Machine and Other Desert Cities

video upload by Thoow

"This is one patch I wanted to setup months before I finally got hold of a Vermona Perfourmer: I use the beautiful Fugue Machine to play a very easy sequence. Each playhead feeds one of the four Midi channels of the perfourmer. The audio is recorded into Ableton, where I add the Other Desert Cities plugin by Audiodamage with the Sky Valley Granular Delay algorithms for some additional granular pitch-shifting chaos."

Vermona Perfourmer MK2, Dr. Chaos and lots of reverb & delay

"My first contribution to this years Jamuary challenge. Todays topic is 'A jam that transports you to another world'. The only instrument used is the Vermona Perfourmer MK2. Sequenced from Ableton Live, using the Dr. Chaos module from the probabilty pack.

Lots of reverb delay and all the other good stuff added for further pleasure. Enjoy."

Vermona Perfourmer MK2 with Fairfield Circuitry Shallow Water

"First performance with my new Vermona Perfourmer. This is the first device, that I immediately felt very comfortable with. Such a joy to play and wiggle all the knobs. For this take I send one of the VCOs directly through the Fairfield Circuitry Shallow Water pedal to add some additional warmth and motion. The piece is sequenced from Ableton live and multi track recorded. I added some additional effects via VSTs."

UDO Audio Super 6 12-Voice Polyphonic Binaural Analog-Hybrid Synthesizer 2020 Blue SN S611865

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"UDO's Super 6 is a Roland-inspired, hybrid twelve-voice polysynth with a fully binaural signal path, perfect for creating everything from classic pads and synth key sounds to rich, swarming stereo textures. Using FPGA-based oscillators, an analog filter section, analog VCA section, and 192kHz, 24-bit effects, the Super 6's voice architecture alone is uncommonly powerful and clean. Combined with an intense and well-considered modulation section, Fatar keybed with velocity and aftertouch, and an integrated arpeggiator and sequencer, the Super 6 feels like we're back in the early 1980s imagining what the future of synthesizers would be like.

Each voice's two oscillators are FPGA-based wavetable designs, each with their own special tricks and sound-making possibilities. Oscillator 1 (called DDS1 on the panel) employs UDO's super-wavetable engine: a sort of hybrid of wavetable and super-saw like techniques for creating absurdly huge stereo swarms. DDS1 is, in fact, a single centroid oscillator and six sister oscillators which may be phase-separated across the stereo field for intense, swirling spatial images. User wavetables are supported via import from a computer, so you can truly make the Super 6 sound like whatever you want. Oscillator 2, also DDS-based, provides easy access to traditional waveshapes along with classic synth sound design techniques like hard sync, suboscillator, PWM, and more.

The VCF and VCA sections are fully analog, allowing for classic manipulations of the truly unique sound source. The filter section provides resonant highpass and lowpass filters, which can be coupled together for more traditional bandpass response. The lowpass filter can self-oscillate and allows for key tracking, opening up the possibility for all sorts of gnarly filter FM and sound generation.

Envelope 1 is an invertible HADSR with option for looping, while the second is a classic ADSR. Each envelope can be sent to control multiple destinations, which, in combination with the LFO section and modulation matrix, can make for remarkably complex and singular sound design opportunities.

All of this combined with a velocity and aftertouch-sensitive keybed, sequencer, arpeggiator, MPE compliance, and an outright solid build quality serves to make the Super 6 one of the most compelling polyphonic synths around.

SUPER 6 FEATURES
Twelve-voice polyphonic synthesizer
Classic Roland look and workflow with advanced digital features
Hybrid architecture using a mix of FPGAs and analog processing
Binaural signal path for creating profound, lush stereo textures and movement
Main oscillator with "super wavetable" engine and downloadable waveforms

Flexible modulation with LFOs, envelopes, and extensive modulation matrix
Stereo 24-bit, 192kHz Roland-style chorus and delay
Fatar keybed with velocity and aftertouch control
Integrated arpeggiator and 64-step sequencer"

Oberheim OB-8 w/ Factory MIDI

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

Pic of the inside below.

"It's an early rev OB-8, with no "Page 2" serigraphy on the front panel, the keyboard is a Pratt-Read one( which is better in many ways than the later Matsushita keyboard), it also got the individual CEM3360 VCA IC per voice ( instead of the CA3080 OTA with later rev ), and was already retrofitted with factory MIDI !

Excellent cosmetic condition, with most notably 2 defects on the front panel ( check pics ), just above " cassette" and around PW knob in OSC section . Beside that, it's really excellent for a 40 year old instrument! A custom made flycase is also included with the sale .

The OB-8 works perfectly , VCOs are almost immediately stable when turned on, and the sound is nothing but a delight !

The new OS upgrade by Tauntek might be installed upon request ( additional fee will apply )
You'll be able to save/ import your patches via MIDI (Sysex), and most of all, you'll be able to control all of the OB-8 parameters with MIDI CC !

Here is a detailed report of the service work :

- New capacitors ( electrolytic / tantalum ) for the whole machine
- New bridge rectifiers w/ heatsink
- New trimmers for the whole machine ( including pan pot trimmers )
- Complete calibration according to the Service Manual
- New battery & import of the factory patches
- New set of 22 potentiometers for the front panel : these have been custom assembled and are identical to the original ones ( as they are now impossible to find )
- A dozen of logic chips on the CPU Board / Front panel have been replaced
- The keybed have been serviced : new bushings, J-wire cleaning, key alignement , overall cleaning
- New 40 pin ribbon cable between CPU => Midi Board
- Interal missing screws have been replaced by new ones
- New on/off switch : the original one didn't lit any more, so it was replaced by the exact same part"

V.A.I. 63 CRB Computer Band 2000 / CRB Oberon

video upload by Vintage Audio Institute Italia

"Introducing the wonderfully quirky CRB Computer Band 2000 - a mainly analog auto accompaniment machine from the early 80s with four sections:

1.Drums with individually mutable sounds
2.Bass section with three sounds and two modes
3.Two chord sections with a total of seven sounds, decay and volume controls.
4. And an arpeggiator with four different sounds and decay control.

These sections were originally made for big home-organs, they're incorporated into the CRB 910 organs and a few Solton branded ones as well.
The stand-alone units are quite rare.
The CRB Oberon is a two oscillator monster synth from roughly the same era, it has some interesting features and is probably the most complicated Italian mono synths out there."

"The boy and the dolphin is a spontaneous electronic duo: Orestis Zafeiriou and Giuliano Anzani. They met in The Netherlands and they find themselves living and working in Athens. They patched their synthesizers and forces exploring oceans of sounds.

as the ocean has storms, we have noise \
as the ocean has waves, we have melodies \
as the dolphin emerges from the water \
we hear drones.

This set is the result of several improvisations operating Dreadbox machines. Both Giuliano and Orestes are part of the Dreadbox team :)"

Setonix Synth and Bastl Dual Filters

video upload by John Schussler

"I've already looked at the Setonix Synth Marsupial. Really liked it, and was accordingly quick to order the Macropod when it became available. At about the same time I got ahold of an Ikarie from Bastl.

Between the three of them, I have a hard time choosing a favorite, and all are definitely keepers.

This is a short comparison to get a feel for their respective sounds. I'm not spending a lot of time on the Marsupial since I already covered it (see link in description/above), but do want it here so I can have a clear ear on how it differs from Macropod.

Source VCO is a Dannysound Cali Osc. Envelope from Zadar. Sequence from Stochastic IG. And a touch of Valhalla reverb at the end.

"So you have 8hp available, and want to fill it with a filter. Here are some options. They aren't all the options, there are many, many more. But a few new 8hp filters have arrived recently (the XAOC, CCTV, and SetonixSynth), so it seemed like a good time to compare them with some other 8hp filters I have close at hand. For the most part I'll be listening to low pass outputs only.

Source audio is an Intellijel Dixie II+, with a mix of several waves. Envelope is from Zadar. Sequence from Stochastic SIG. A touch of Halls of Vallhalla reverb at the end.
