Pittsburgh Modular Taiga [Sounds Only Demo] |No Talking|

video upload by

"Audio + Video by G-Storm Electro c. 2023

The anticipated new Pittsburgh Modular Taiga synth just rolled in the door. I knew I was going to be messing with it all day, so I figured may as well film it and share some curated noise with you. Patched some bass sounds and one clip making weird sound effects. Sounds really good, looking forward to using it in some new tracks.

This video was not sponsored by Pittsburgh Modular, nor Cre8audio. Paid for this unit with my own money. After all, I'm just another synth enthusiast just like you :D

A small amount of delay coming from Behringer DD400 for stereo widening only. Otherwise recorded direct to Tascam DR-05, no additional mastering or effects."

Oberheim OB-8 – Custom Sounds & Factory Presets-use

video upload by Andy Whitmore

"Oberheim OB-8 – Custom Sounds & Factory Presets

The Oberheim OB-8 is a subtractive analog synthesizer launched by Oberheim in early 1983 and discontinued in 1985. As the fourth product in the OB-series of polyphonic compact synthesizers, the OB-8 was the successor to the OB-Xa. The number of production was about 3,000 units.

The OB-8 features eight-voice polyphony, two-part multi-timbrality, a 61-note processor-controlled piano keyboard, sophisticated programmable LFO and envelope modulation, two-pole and four-pole filters, arpeggiator, external cassette storage, MIDI capability and 120 memory patches, 24 bi-timbral patches, and used the Z80 CPU. The musician's interface also consists of two pages of front panel programmable controls, left panel performance controls and a set of foot pedals and switches."

Pinging the ARP 2500

video upload by zack dagoba

"This is a self playing patch on the ARP 2500. There are no envelopes used in this patch - it uses a gate from one of the S&H sections to "ping" the Resonant Multimode Filter - a very cool feature that gives a really nice, organic sounding tone, that can be pitched however you want. Its like having an extra voice to make use of. This patch also uses frequency modulations to vary the timbre in an evolving way. Video shot on a vintage Sony DSR500 camera"

Melancholy ambient tones w/ monome norns & Roland J-6

video upload by Arman Bohn

"My norns script 'pixels' drowning on some long notes and plaques. The rolling J6, providing some randomized backing chords. It’s nice to get back to the roland and it makes me think that I should work on a chord generating device. #tinystudio #generativemusic #ambientmusic #electronicmusic #synth #ambient"

Roland SH-4D Demo (No talking)

video upload by Hunart©

"Hi Everyone!

Just a few short custom patterns trying to capture some less "mainstream" sounds of this little machine. This one will be with me longer, as I want to go a bit deeper in to the possibilities.
The seven example patterns are below:

Dawless Acid Workout with TR808 RE-303 and System 100

video upload by Peter Maas

"Dawless Acid workout:

TR808 as main drums and clock
System 100 (2x101, 2x102, 1x103, 1x104) on bassline and noise
RE-303 on Acid Squelches
Vorg Tape delay, WA 1176 and Distressor as main outboard.

No effects added in computer; one take recording"

Midicake Arp Demo Tracks Thelxinoe

video upload by midicake

"I was messing with Polyphony on the Blofeld synth and came up with this little ditty.

The ability to set the scale notes, that each arp follows, while the song is playing is pretty cool and another way to experiment with melody generation using Midicake ARP."

How Ancient Electronics Write Music For HAINBACH

video upload by HAINBACH

"I was commissioned to write a piece for solo sax and electronics, something I have never done before. I decided I would approach the composition in the same way that I improvise with other musicians. I would compose as if I was on stage with the performer, Dr. Hall. The 'live' setup I created for this ended up writing a good part of the music for me, in a human/machine feedback loop.

After work Korg Volcas song #1 (volca: sample, drum, bass, keys)

video upload by Christian's Sonic Spaces

"This is an after work song using the Korg Volca sample, drum, bass, and keys.

I used for the recording the following FX chain: Red Panda Particle - Pigtronix Echolution 2 Deluxe - GFI System Specular Reverb 2. Depending on the recorded track some FX are deactivated

The signal went through a Presonus StudioLive 16.0.2 into the PC via USB for recording. To create the complete song I recorded consecutively several stereo tracks. The final song was then mastered with a bit EQ and compression on some tracks and some limiting on the master track."

SAMPLE HOLD & SLEW User Guide: Multi-function Eurorack Modulation, Noise, Internal & External Clock

video upload by AJH Synth Official

"The SAMPLE HOLD & SLEW is a 12hp Eurorack modulation source, featuring both sample & hold, track & hold, a restrict function, internal noise source with colour control that can also be used as audio, internal clock that can be sent to other modules, and external clock control. It also has a well-featured Slew section, with selectable slew up and down only, gate control to switch it on and off, linear or exponential response, and this section can be used completely independently from the rest of the module.
This module can function extremely well independently, having it's own built-in clock and noise source to generate random voltages. However, it can also serve as a master clock for a generative patch, or triggering a sequencer. Alternatively, it can be slaved to a sequencer's clock, the gate output of any CV controller/keyboard, or other modules, so that it can generate random voltages in time with the music, even allowing the slew (or glide) to be added to individual steps in a sequence or pattern. This module is brilliant for making sequences more interesting.
As a simple noise source the bi-directional colour control applies low-pass or high-pass filtering. This is also useful when used with the sample/track & hold to determine the range of random frequencies or voltages that will be generated, as is the Clipped noise feature, which creates more significant differences between each sample, and the Restrict control that limits how far each new generated voltage can be from the last. When also used with the Slew and Exponential features it can then generate a smooth, ever-changing CV signal, which is ideal for use in drone sounds, modulating a VCF, VCO, VCA, an LFO, and any other modulation or audio.

The AJH SYNTH Eurorack range consists of high-end modules, all hand-made in the UK, most of which are based on classic, vintage designs, authentically recreating the circuitry of much sought-after analogue instruments and technologies of the past, whilst greatly expanding them, and bringing them to modern Eurorack levels of convenience, limitless flexibility, and reliability.

Check out the AJH Synth playlists for module 'User Guides', and 'Patch of The Week' videos, which will be either performances or 'how to' guides, detailing functions/methods, and a range of sounds, some familiar, some less so, containing a patch sheet at the end to show you how to construct it for yourself.

"This is a 3 rack set of hard to find pre-assembled Blacet Modular frac rack compatible modules. Fracrack or fractional rack modules were the precursor to eurorack modulars, and some feel they sound better than the euro rack standard. Some of these modules were factory assembled and some were not. There are a couple partially cut wires in the non-factory assembled modules that we will probably remove entirely before shipping. All modules were tested individually in another system and determined to be working properly. Power supply and and rack enclosure are not included. If you need a power supply, please email us as we may be able to provide one for an additional cost.

RARE Bugbrand Spring Tanker

via this auction

The Spring Tanker, a compact Spring Reverb Tank combined with Voltage Controlled elements, further extends the processing dimensions of the current red BugBrand designs. The Electro-Mechanical process massages any audio it is fed – the springs are exposed for (gentle) mechanical disturbance and the VC parameters of Amp and Filter tie the machine into your analogue studio flow.

Have a look at the Block Diagram image [linked here] to see the internal signal flow. An Input Preamp with gain brings the mono signal input up to suitable internal levels before the signal splits to the Output Mixer (Dry) and the Reverb Drive VCA (Voltage Controlled Amplifier).

This Linear VCA sets the level feeding into the Reverb Core and can be controlled by the Level dial combined with Control Voltage (CV) Modulation from the Polarising Depth control. A Feedback path, again VCA controlled, takes the Reverb output (normalised) and sums it back in to the input of the Reverb Core (do treat this path with care – it can scream!). Of course, an external processor can be inserted within this feedback loop via the Send (Reverb) / Return (Feedback) sockets.

E-MU Systems Emax II

via this auction

"A classic sampler from 1988, upgraded with a modern USB drive so you can load disks with contemporary computers. The listing comes with a USB stick loaded with many samples and presets.

This is the stereo version of the EMAX 2, and is running the most up-to-date version 2.14 OS.

I love the chorus, the resonant filter, and the gritty sampler. I find this synthesis options on this keyboard surprisingly complex and deep, and I commend the designers.

A few scratches, but in lovely working condition and ready to pump out delicious 80s vibes for years to come."

Sequential Circuits Prelude 49-Key 49-Voice Polyphonic Orchestral Synthesizer

via this auction

"Vintage orchestral synthesizer consisting of Piano, Organ, Brass, and String sections. Freshly serviced at Pro Audio Electronics in Tampa. Like many other similar 4-section synths of this type, all 49 keys will play simultaneously for 49-note polyphony. Two of the sections can be played at the same time. It has an on-board chorus/flanger effect as well as a 7-band equalizer. The on-board effects and EQ are great for thickening and modulating the string sound beyond the scope of traditional orchestral sounds. The Prelude has a very appealing and intuitive Sequential-esque layout and appearance and is definitely one of the finest orchestral-type multitimbral synths among others in its class."

Warpman Demos Jan Feb 2023

video upload by DecadeBridge

"A few demos using the Warpman cassette player motor controller in different ways.

00:00 - Using the players radio to create and record a hi-hat rhythm with the ableton push. Then switching to the cassette tape to create a chord loop using Warpman. Kick and snare from Rample.
01:46 - Controlling the pitch of the tape using the SQ1 as a CV source connected to the 0HP VCA bridge between the Warpman and modified player.
02:47 - Recording the radio to tape whilst using the Warpman to change the speed of the cassette motor, then playing back the results.
03:20 - Running the player's stereo out through the 0HP VCA controlled by the Moog Subharmonicon's envelopes. The output from the VCA is then connected to the Hologram electronics Microcosm.
04:14 - Another patch using the SQ1 to control the player's pitch whilst using the Warpman to alter the pitch range. 05:31 - A simple dirty breakbeat tape loop."
