"Echoes of Yesterday's Tomorrow" - (Tracker Plus, Roland TR8s)
video upload by Electronisounds Audio
"A track for the Hardware Jams Facebook Group's weekly challenge, which was:
'Do electric sheep dream of android phones? This is the question the admin crew woke up to this morning. And here is your weekend challenge. Inspired by the sci-fi classic, we would love you to embark on a futuristic journey taking inspiration from the very same question.
There could be various interpretations for this challenge. For example, you could create a sonic landscape with futuristic elements; what if you could create a jam that reflects the dreams your very own machines had when they are switched off and so on.'
Whatever kind of music you are making - KEEP IT UP, Friends!
Don't stop making *YOUR MUSIC*!!

Roland System 700 Sequencer Controlling my Custom Modular Synthesizer
video upload by Danniielle
"A short video testing out a new pan/fade module and new power harness I have just installed in my custom synthesizers dotcom modular synthesizer.
Roland System 700 sequencer is patched into dotcom Q960 sequencer, Roland System 100 synthesizer and Moog Voyager. I will be doing a recalibration of the oscillators shortly and patching in the rest of the system for a more detailed test.
Also part of my modular setup but not patched in for this video are the following:
Roland System 500,
Roland System 1m,
Moog Mother 32,
Roland System 8.
Audio is from my phone microphones in my Samsung A12 phone with Beyerdynamic DT1990 Pro headphones placed over the microphones.
No additional effects or processing added. Audio is directly from the output of the modular via a FSFX 5U version of Mutable Instruments Clouds module."

New 3rd Party Hidden Sysex Based ZEN-Core Editor-librarian for MC-101 and MC-707
video upload by Benedetto Schiavone
"ZEN-Core Sound Banks (222 tones) for all Roland Synthesizers, Piano, Groovebox, Wind-Instruments, Guitar Synth compatible with the ZEN-Core standard"
Available at: http://www.benis.it/cm/ZC_Editor/ben6...
Addtiional details in via Benedetto Schiavone:

"As is known, the two Roland grooveboxes do not officially support MIDI SysEX messages and there is no documentation relating to their implementation which is hidden
In reality, the MC-101/707 are able to receive and send such messages: they respond with a completely wrong addressing, with duplicate and incorrect data which however can be corrected and used by the software.
The editor-librarian, like the analogous versions for Fantom/0, AX-Edge and Jupiter-X/Xm, communicates in real-time and bidirectionally with the groovebox, using MIDI SysEx messages."

Sunday Jam #49 : Steamdrunk again (Amiga)
video upload by MIDI IN
"A couple of weeks ago I set out to use it to make a track from some sounds I recorded [see this post]. I finished that in Logic Pro because of time but have now finished the Amiga (Octamed) version.
Here is the original .med file:
https://peacockmedia.software/misc/st...
As mentioned in the video, it was saved by Octamed 4 and can be opened for editing in that application. Any music player on an Amiga or emulator should play it. There are tools that will play this format on modern computers. VLC can usually play .sid and .mod but sadly doesn't play this one properly on my Mac. I found foobar2000 did render it properly with the openMTP plugin."

And result amazes us - vintage samples + MF organic analog filter done a real magic.
Thats how "Oberheim OB-8" Soundset was made.

Best Ambient Synth Shootout #135: Sonicware LIVEN Ambient Ø - Song 2
video upload by Christian's Sonic Spaces
"This is the second recording with the Sonicware LIVEN Ambient Ø. It is a 10-voice, 4-layer synthesizer focussing on ambient, drones, soundscapes, etc. It shares the same platform than the other LIVEN.
I used for the recording the following FX pedals (FX from the LIVEN Ambient Ø are deactivated): Gamechanger Audio Auto Chorus, Pigtronix Echolution 2 Deluxe, GFI System Specular Reverb 2.
The signal went through a Presonus StudioLive 16.0.2 into the PC via USB for recording. To create the complete song I recorded consecutively several stereo tracks. On some tracks Compressor and EQ where added in Cubase. The final song was then mastered using iZotope Ozone.
Well, I decided to go back to the basics, but at the same time make something useful for the synth community and do a kind of competition (I like competitions;-). What's my best synth for ambient music :-)"
shivas`s dream ... sonicware liven ambient Ø & Oxi One
video upload by substan
"I´ve decided to give Ambient some more attention before it's banished to the shelf by other things. This time with the support of Oxi One ... who contributes a semi-generative element and is much easier to sequence than the Ambient.
This time I also processed the sound with the Analog Heat, a touch of supermassiv reverb and a little Ableton vinyl in post ... besides the usual mastering
A performance on the sonicware liven ambient Ø & Oxi One
Recorded in one take into Zoom M4.
Mastered in post."

Wavetables Explained + How to get LoFi digital vibes
video upload by Starsky Carr
"Wavetable oscillators can be overlooked or misunderstood and sometimes they seem a little scary - especially as they're all different. Here I explain what wavetables are, how to use them, how to make the most of them and also why vintage wavetable synths sounded so lo fi.
so I demo how the lo-fi sounds are made, or why they are lo fi and where all the digital artefacts come from. Modern wavetable synths don't sound so grungy and crunchy as they've got plenty of processing power to do the myriad of calculations needed per note. Vintage synths like the PPG and original microwaves just didn't have the processing power,.
I'm using the new Waldorf Microwave 1 plugin here as it's got a lovely clear interface to show whats happening plus its been designed with all the 'flaws' or at least the limitations of the originals.

Lexicon PCM70 | Best bang for the buck reverb you could get in the 80s
video upload by Espen Kraft
"The Lexicon PCM70 was released in 1985. The same year as the more expensive 224X. The PCM70 was a budget alternative for expensive sounding lush reverbs and effects, even if it did cost over $2000 in the 80s. It also had MIDI and they made it respond to CC messages so you could control it in real time. This was very impressive. What set a good expensive reverb apart from more cheap ones was how the expensive reverbs effortlessly wrapped around the sound source in a majestic and expansive way, where the cheap ones wrapped itself around the source as wet snow or stink on stink.
Today, there are plugins that will destroy the PCM70 in many ways, but sometimes the oldies are goldies for a reason.
A big thanks to Anders Jensen for letting me have one of his PCM70s for this video. I've sold all my Lexicons now as I use Valhalla VintageVerb for easier and faster access to the Lexicon reverb sound in the DAW.

Ahead Of Its Time: Publison DHM89B2 (1978)
video upload by HAINBACH
"The French Publison DHM89B2 with its FB2000 keyboard controller is a stunning instrument for its time. Released first in 1978 (keyboard in 1980) it quickly made its way into the electronic music studios of the experimental avantgarde, such as INA GRM and SWR Experimentalstudio. For the time it offered incredible fidelity of pitch-shifting and sampling, surpassing the more famous Fairlight with ease. Pop stars like Prince used it extensively, and it became the go to vocal doubler / harmonizer for many years. This particular unit belonged to Manuel Göttsching (E2-E4) and resides now at the Akademie der Künste Berlin. Robert Henke (Monolake) and Dave Hilowitz joined me there to explore it."

Skippy Exp: an expander for Skippy
video upload by Kaona modular music
"Skippy Exp is a tiny module in 2HP that adds "Play/Stop" and "Reset" functions to Skippy, either via a button or a CV input."
"Skippy Exp is a very small module that in 2HP adds to Skippy the 'Play/Stop' function and the 'Reset' function, either with a button or with a CV input. It cannot work independently and you absolutely need Skippy to use it.
For those who do not need the live settings that Skippy Live allows (or who no longer have space!), Skippy EXP nevertheless allows you to add two essential functions for a dynamic game.
This module cannot work in parallel with Skippy Live which already has these two functions. It can be placed on the right or on the left. The connector to connect it to Skippy is provided. This module does not need to be connected to the power supply."
