"Yeah, when I go out to a gig or studio sesh I dont wanna lug around my entire analog synth rig... unless I'm doing something important like producing Foreigner or the next Styx ballad. So if your a groovy cat, you are probably wondering if the new muse can do convincing basic or complex mono minimoog model d sounds.

This video has 8 audio listening examples. Let your ears decide which sound is the muse or the minimoog. I will post the answers to the blind test soon! I had to match these patches by ear to the best of my ability... (im human.. cut me some slack).

BTW, if you own or plan on buying a muse I've created some bread & butter type patches for the synth you can download free for a limited time. I wasn't too happy with the presets the muse came with. So to save time I created 2 banks of 80s pop inspired stuff. A demo of the sounds can also be found on my channel or type in MUSE ALLEN MICHAEL.

"I present the LOFI uTape Scrubber….. based around modified dictaphone including the same replay and AC record circuits used in the upcoming 1U Taperack system!

The uTape scrubber module is easy to set up, use and maintain so requires no previous experience with tape or tape loops unlike the 1U taperack system which will be best suited to people with experience working with tape.

The Bi-directonal motor driver circuit I have designed is a huge improvement over the standard dictaphone motor driver circuit making it possible to scrub the tape back and forth with a single control knob or a Biploar CV signal.

The Pitch knob is used for fine tune control of tape speed, the range of the speed will depend upon the direction/range control.

The direction / range control knob can be used to choose the direction of the tape movement and the range of the overall pitch.

The Pitch CV control knob is an attenuator for the CV input.

The CV input works well with +/- 5V CV signals but for extreme speeds and scrubbing use +/- 10V.

It reminds me a lot of the Kawai K3 with some Microwave blended in. Capable of doing anything from mellow soundscapes to screaming Trance music. Very versatile and fun to play around with.

Paraphonic setup with Therevox, Erebus and Dark Energy

"Connected the Therevox ET-4.3 and the Dreadbox Erebus v2 together to create 4 note chords.

The Doepfer Dark Energy creates the "drum" sounds and is triggered by its own LFO.

The Envelope output on the Erebus is connected to the Expression input on the Therevox and controls its VCA.
The Ring output on the Therevox is connected to the CV input on the Erebus and controls its pitch.
The two oscillators on the Erebus are 2 octaves apart and the pitch is relative to the Ring position on the Therevox.
The pitch of the two oscillators on the Therevox is tuned 19 semitones (1 octave plus a 5th) above and 24 semitones (2 octaves) above, relative to the lowest C on the keyboard controller.

For example, if you play a D with the ring on the Therevox and a C and D# on the keyboard, you will get a D minor chord with the notes from lowest to highest: D, A, D and F.

The "drums" from the Dark Energy is a single track with EQ automation (mostly high-pass filter) to emulate different drum sounds.

All the instruments are recorded live and no other instrument tracks were added, just effects (delay, reverb, etc.).

Audio
The hardware offers stereo in, stereo out. Level and mix control on both channels. The right hand input is normalized to the left hand input for mono in/stereo out (this configuration still provides independent level/mix adjustment for each channel).
Full stereo depends on the program running. A few are stereo in, stereo out. Many are mono in, stereo out. Some are mono in, mono out.
Suggested 32KHz crystal provides max 1sec delay times at ~15KHz bandwidth.

CV control
The FV-1 provides three control voltage inputs. Dervish provides summed pot & external CV for each of these. External CV range is +/-5V with the corresponding pot centered. "Prog Adv" used to advance the program.

Programs
11 banks of 8 programs. The FV-1 can address a single bank of 8 effects/programs stored in an external i2c EEPROM. Dervish expands support to 11 banks of 8 effects (binary + text) by using a larger EEPROM & storing the extra banks above the 4KB addressed by the FV-1. An ATTiny MCU provides the ability to switch banks by copying the new bank into the FV-1's addressable space. A 4-pin connector exposing the i2c bus is provided so you can customize the content of the EEPROM."

Testing out the latest BETA firmware for the Phantasmal Force micro MIDI controller with some help from the Kasser Arcade FM synth and the Korg NTS-3.

The Arcade is making the sounds - but the Phantasmal Force is sequencing all the notes by running 8 generative, monophonic ARP sequences and modulating parameters on the Arcade via two CC LFOs.

I’ve been listening to variations of this setup for the last two weeks.

CV EXPERT is a very compact yet powerful CV tool that is equipped with all the important functions you need to customise your control voltages. With its internal LFO, it is immediately ready for use without further patching.

CV Expert (Cve) is a versatile dual-channel tool for customizing control voltages.

Its internal LFO is normalised to both inputs and allows you to choose between a triangle or square wave via a jumper on the back. The LFO connection is automatically interrupted when an external CV is inserted. Adjust the LFO rate with the LFO RATE potentiometer.

The signal received at the DC-coupled inputs IN ① and IN ② passes through three CV tools:

Polarizer
The PLRZR potentiometer enables voltage attenuation and inversion.
At the midpoint, the signal is eliminated.
Turning to the right allows the original voltage to pass through (as with an attenuator).
Turning to the left inverts the signal, e.g. positive signals are converted into negative signals.

Offset
Adds or subtracts voltage from/to the passing signal.
OFFSET control determines the offset range.
In the center position, there is no voltage offset. Turning the control to the right shifts the voltage to the positive range, while turning it to the left shifts it to the negative range.

Gain
Amplifies the signal with a maximum gain of 2 at the GAIN control's maximum position, effectively doubling the applied voltage (e.g., +1V becomes +2V, +3V becomes +6V, or +4V becomes +8V).
The voltage is capped at a maximum of +/-10V.
