Korg Introduces EXs325 Yangqin Chinese Hammered String Instrument for KRONOS & NAUTILUS

video upload by Korg

"There are many types of Hammered string instruments used around the world. The Chinese version of the dulcimer is known as the Yangqin and often referred to as the "Chinese Piano". It plays a very important role in the accompaniment of Chinese string and wind instruments. EXs325 focuses on the local sound character and the articulation of the Yangqin - unique sounds that are heard throughout traditional Chinese music.

The sampled Yangqin was made from the sweet-sounding rosewood, and played with relatively hard hammers. While we have many playing techniques and tones of Yangqin, we have collected these useful, easy-to-use techniques:

・Attack / Stick Variation (Main, Reverse, Bottom, Finger)
・Tremolo
・Harmonics
・Ghost Note
・No Pedal

And like EXs323 Erhu -Traditional Chinese Violins-, we did special PCM editing, sound programming, and crossfading. This allows the smooth (stepless) dynamic transitions and natural performance control with various controllers.

Additionally, we realized round robin and tempo-adaptive tremolo using wave sequences. The EXs325 offers greater realism than ever before and brings new performance possibilities. We highly recommend for all KRONOS/NAUTILUS users looking for some beautiful and unusual sounds.

Knives of Silence by Jay Wires

Knives of Silence is a new release from supporting member Jay Wires, available from various outlets here.

Details follow:

October 21, 2025

My song 'knives of silence' comes out at midnight tonight, and i can't say im excited about it. it spotlights several harmful textbook narcissist behaviors i experienced in a past relationship - reactive abuse, blame-shifting / victim-playing, the silent treatment / ghosting, and more. i put off releasing it because it's a painful reminder of a bad time, but im over it, and felt it might help others. at the very least, it will immortalize the robot voice of my 1979 roland vp-330 mk1 vocoder plus. the final chorus features 9 layers of this precious vintage synthesizer which was meticulously refurbished by tone tweakers. ive come a long way since singing funkytown through a fan as a child.

ps in case the lyrics cause any confusion, the pushing back / self defensive act I was referring to was verbally defending myself against my abuser. im not a violent guy. one of my mottos is give hugs, not slugs.

Morphor ECHON 6 BBD Resonator Synth Now Open for Pre-Orders

Morphor's ECHON 6 pre-orders are now open at Perfect Circuit

Press release follows:

Morphor marks upcoming availability of ECHON 6 as world’s first polysynth based around analogue BBD resonators by announcing opening of pre-orders

GHENT, BELGIUM: having twice turned heads and opened ears thanks to show-stealing showcases at SUPERBOOTH25, May 8-10, FEZ-Berlin, Germany and Machina Bristronica 2025, September 27-28, Bristol, UK, Morphor marks upcoming availability of its eagerly-awaited ECHON 6 — being billed as the world’s first polyphonic synthesizer based around BBD (Bucket-Brigade Delay) resonators, building upon the Belgium-based collective of artists, engineers, and musicians with a passion for creative sound experience and radical acoustic ideas’ illustrious Eurorack expertise in that area as its inaugural standalone (rack-mountable) desktop design — by announcing the opening of pre-orders as of October 23…

As an ANALOGUE POLYPHONIC MULTI-TIMBRAL BBD SYNTHESIZER — helpfully highlighted by the on point wording worked tastefully into its fitting front panel design’s execution, ECHON 6 brings the principals of modal synthesis into the analogue domain. Far from reimagining a digital concept with modern analogue circuitry, it readily redefines how resonance and excitation can interact. And as the world’s first polyphonic synthesizer based around BBD resonators, no less, each of its six voices features a discrete BBD RESONATOR that tracks the keyboard, producing organic overtones and complex harmonic depth. Duly allowing its users to excite those resonators in creative ways, ECHON 6 can generate anything from plucked and bowed strings over leads and basses to big pads and evolving soundscapes. Combining comprehensive multi-timbral capabilities, a 9 x 32 modulation matrix, a full analogue signal path, and a one-knob-per-function approach, ECHON 6 ultimately unites experimental sound design with classic polyphony. Indeed, its architecture invites exploration at every stage of that analogue signal path.

"Bastl CITADEL - Fortress of Modular Magic - is a Eurorack reimagination of the popular Kastle 2 semi-modular desktop device. The CITADEL comes with a full 3.5mm patch bay that offers the flexibility needed in the Eurorack format while maintaining the strengths of the Kastle 2 allowing it to stand on its own, and yet let it truly shine when patched with other modules. We’ve also added switches
for hands-on control of the pattern generator. The Citadel provides the basic infrastructure needed to integrate Eurorack systems within the context of electronic music making: headphone output, TRS MIDI input and sync, tempo generator with divider/multiplier, USB MIDI (from the back of the module), stereo mixing, integrated LFO and Pattern generator and effects. All that makes it the perfect module for smaller and beginner systems while the fun and unique creativity of the Kastle 2 firmwares:
the FX WIZARD multi-effect processor and WAVE BARD sample player will earn its place in
larger setups.

🛠️ Get Wave Bard & FX Wizard at the same time 🔃
The Citadel comes equipped with a reversible front panel with WAVE BARD on one side
and FX WIZARD on the other side. It also comes with our custom designed tool to make
the panel switching as seamless as possible. You can load and try different Citadel/Kastle 2
present and future firmwares and updates with a USB port (on the back).

The Citadel might break a few rules of standard Eurorack design, but it does so in the name
of instant musicality, fun, and effortless integration of Eurorack with other gear. The PITCH
inputs on the WAVE BARD track 1V/Oct, are factory-calibrated, and there’s even dedicated
calibration software to ensure a perfect match with your source."

Generative Patches: DFAM+Mother-32+Subharmonicon. Jam Demo

video upload by Anton Anru

📚 DMS Generative is a collection of 25 patches for the semi-modular system Moog Sound Studio: DFAM + Mother-32 + Subharmonicon. This genre of sound design is highly popular within modular culture, and the Moog Sound Studio offers an excellent feature set to explore it.
🎛 Controlled chaos and randomness, probability, non-repetitiveness, tempo shifts, pattern uniqueness, the alternation of short and long sounds, unexpected changes, silence and density, harmonic and FX-like tones, and glitchy bursts throughout sequences — all of these elements are part of the soundset.
🎚 Generative timbres can serve as a strong addition to, or the main element of, ambient or techno tracks, jams, and performances. You can also record fragments into your DAW or sampler, slice them into one-shots or loops, and obtain unique material for further processing.

📦 Get these patches: https://antonanru.sellfy.store/p/moog...

🕹 The key idea behind the soundset is a high level of interconnection. In this patchbook, the timbres of the synths are intertwined — they cannot exist independently:
🔹 They modulate each other with LFOs and envelopes.
🔹 A sequence from one synth may change parameters on another.
🔹 Trigger interactions, clock/rhythm, and run/stop modulations break predictable patterns.
🔹 Audio signals from VCOs may be used as modulation sources to create harmonies, intervals, or wild experimental inharmonic tones.
🔹 Alternatively, they can be used as audio sources routed into another synth to be processed through its unique filter and envelope — giving the signal a “second life.”
DFAM, M32, and SUBH each play distinct and defined roles — it’s not a sound mess, but a tightly integrated system where the synths work in close cooperation.

Make Noise Black & Gold Shared System ++

Note: links to listings are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this Reverb listing

"The Black and Gold Shared System is the latest revision of MakeNoise's early flagship. The star of the system is undoubtedly the DPO; a rich implementation of the West Coast complex oscillator pioneered by Don Buchla. Capable of wide range of tones with multiple outputs available simultaneously. It can also be used as 2 completely independent oscillators. The interaction of the 2 oscillators is high dynamic via the integrated mod bus and enhanced by a unique 'follow' circuit.

VCA, mixing and 'gate' functionality is provided by the Optomix and Moddemix, the latter of which also includes a unique ring mod implementation.

The DPO is ably supported by a wide variety of control options including a highly interactive touch interface as well as sophisticated and dynamic rhythmic control.

This unit was originally purchased with the mk1 version of Rene. It has been upgraded with the mk2 and an additional Brains module was added to the Pressure Points module to enhance the rhythmic potential of the interface.

I am including the original mk1 to enable it to be reset to original condition of if you want to explore a slightly simpler sequencing option.

The system is arguably a richer more up-to-date example Buchla's Music Easel that trades richer sequencing potential for the larger keyboard of the Buchla instrument."

Make Noise System Cartesian Modular System + extra modules

via this Reverb listing

"The System Cartesian allows for a playful exploration of both tonal, harmonic music and west coast style synthesis with digital and analogue oscillators. Bothe the Telharmonic (digital) and STO (analogue) oscillators are now discontinued and both offer unique functionality.

The System Cartesian is a very elegant package that offers sophisticated touch sequencing with the Rene 2 and is capable of a wide-range of timbres and tones. The Telharmonic offers 3 completely different types of digital synthesis (additive, Phase-Mod and a digital noise generator) all of which are available simultaneously. The controls allow the different methods to be blended in interesting, dynamic ways.

The core system is very capable, bit this system additionally includes the XOH output module that performs a little better than the older Rosie module. The Rosie has been returned to the case as this was the original configuration.

Also included is a Makenoise Tempi module that is the same size as the Wogglebug. The Tempi allows for more dynamic and sophisticated clocking of Rene's multiple axes and Maths transient generators. The Tempi allows for the System Cartesian to take on a more rhythmically dense guise.

Erik Norlander's Farfisa Compact Duo CD/30 Dual Keyboard Organ

Note: links to listings are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
video upload by moogfoundation

via this Reverb listing

"A rare vintage combo organ with that unmistakable Farfisa sound. Removable, fold-out bottom reveals fold-down legs (one or two screws missing but still functional) and hard-wired power cable. Cable connects to the external Farfisa F/AR unit which provides power and contains the spring reverb. This unit is functionally good but it could use some internal contact cleaning in a few areas. We coaxed some very usable tones out of it in the demo video! The case itself has been "well-loved," showing moderate surface scuffs from travel.

This is the Compact Duo CD/30, one of Farfisa’s higher-end models from the late ’60s; basically a two-manual version of the Compact with expanded voicing and richer tone-shaping options. A favorite among garage rockers, psych bands, and analog synth fans alike.

Features:

Two manuals (upper and lower keyboards) for split/layered playing
Vibrato, tone boost, and percussion controls
Bass and organ voices with classic Farfisa tabs
Mark I version
The Compact Duo was used extensively by Pink Floyd (Echoes, etc.); a favorite for its gritty tone and punchy presence on stage and in the studio.

30% of the sale supports the Bob Moog Foundation, preserving the legacy of electronic music and inspiring future generations."

Erik Norlander's Farfisa Combo Compact I 61-Key Organ

Note: links to listings are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
video upload by moogfoundation

via this Reverb listing

"Vintage Italian combo organ with classic '60s tone in a sharp-looking chassis. It sounds awesome, especially through FX pedals. 60s Brit pop sounds, naturally, but also early Pink Floyd psychedelic vibes. This unit needs repair, but it’s a great low-cost restoration project for someone handy!

The unit powers up and makes sounds, but the voltage to the keyboard needs adjusting. In the embedded YouTube demo video, a successful demo can be heard in the C scale, but all of the following keyboard voltage issues exist (potentially among others): C in the bass octave plays an F below; B in the bass octave plays a D# below and is too soft; G# in the bass octave is too soft.

Other issues:

Vibrato doesn't work. All Vibrato switches have some effect on the tone, but there is no actual vibrato
Reverb doesn't work. Reverb has a tube preamp (cool!)
Bass 16 / Strings 16 - same issues as bass octave but an octave higher
Bass 16 / Strings 16 - C2 and B2 do not sound
Flute 8 / All 8' stops - same issues as #6 and 7 but an octave higher again
Top C note sticks mechanically
This lot does NOT include the bass or volume pedals.

This organ is built in combination with its own carrying case. The top lid is removed to reveal the organ, and the bottom opens up to storage for wires and the fold-out, built-in legs (shown in some of the images). This lid is missing the suitcase-style carrying handle, which is likely easily replaceable. The case itself also has a crack on the right side.

The Farfisa Compact is known for its bright, buzzy organ tones and reedy bite, perfect for psych rock, garage, and early synth-pop textures. Whether you’re restoring it for stage use or just want that iconic combo organ flavor in your studio, this is a great piece to start with.

Details:

Multiple tone tabs for organ voices and percussion
Built-in vibrato (needs repair, as mentioned) and tone booster
49 keys with bass section on lower range
There is nothing like the sound of a Farfisa organ. Heard on classic tracks by Pink Floyd, The Doors, and The B-52s, these organs helped define the sound of '60s and '70s rock, and still holds its own in modern music.

30% of the sale goes to the Bob Moog Foundation, supporting electronic music history, innovation, and education."

Pics of the inside below.

She ain’t gonna win any beauty contests, but she can kick your “I buy mint only” friends SH101’s butt any day.

Electronically perfect, cosmetically weird SH. It’s my fault…it was a UV-greened olive to brown gradient mess when I got it and I tried whitening the case and left it under UV lamps too long. You can see the original color on the battery door. While my process works wonders for keys and buttons, not so much for gray cases I guess. Oh well.

Despite the now quirky camo exterior, the electronics, rear case and keys are perfect. Power button is solid, no amount of wiggling and wobbling impacts anything. All functions were checked against another SH that I own (I’ve owned 4 and know them inside and out) and everything is spot on. All faders lubed with Deoxit F5, no crackles or jumps. There’s none of the dreaded battery leakage or other liquid damage present. It’s very clean, and as you’d expect sounds massive.

Properly matched PSU included."

Vintage ARP 1613 & Mk II 1623 Sequencers w/ New Sliders

1613 via this eBay listing, also on Reverb

"The vintage ARP Sequencer is an exceptionally flexible analog step sequencer, offering independent control of two 16-step rows for complex patterns, modulation, and real-time performance tweaks. Renowned for its versatility, it can drive multiple synths, modulate parameters, or create evolving textures—making it a powerful centerpiece for any vintage or modular setup.

This is the real deal, a genuine vintage ARP sequencer, not a clone or remake! The sequencer is in very good physical condition and has just been serviced by ARP expert Synthchaser in October 2025. Work done included:

Synthchaser Precision slider upgrade. New, smooth, high precision Bourns sliders. The difference in the way these sliders feel and perform compared to the originals is a huge improvement.
Synthchaser replacement pushbutton switches - All new pushbutton switches -- the original switch caps are still installed so it looks the same from the outside.
Recapped all polarized capacitors - including power supply and all tantalum capacitors
New nuts and washers
Calibrated to factory spec

The ARP Sequencer has Tini-D jacks (like the ARP 2600 and other vintage ARP gear), which are slightly larger than 3.5mm patch cords. 3.5mm patch cords will still work, but for the best connection it's advised to use Tini-D patch cords."

The ARP Sequencer has Tini-D jacks (like the ARP 2600 and other vintage ARP gear), which are slightly larger than 3.5mm patch cords. 3.5mm patch cords will still work, but for the best connection it's advised to use Tini-D patch cords.

New England Digital Synclavier 9600 Polyphonic Sampling System Brochure

via this eBay listing

"RARE! New England Digital Synclavier 9600 Polyphonic Sampling System Brochure

Yes, this is the 9600, and yes, this is in English.

This is THE RAREST and MOST SOUGHT AFTER of the 1989 new system brochures that that fake foreign website scanned the photos from 25+ years ago to show fake systems on the website (instead of real ones like Synclav com has shown for 20+ years). This is the original source of the scan, at least for the Synclavier 9600 model. Those photos show empty boxes. Uhm, what's holding that beige door closed (no locks)? And exactly what software generates that screen image?

This incredibly rare brochure gives all the information, and shows all the specs of the Synclavier 9600. And surprise! The maximum polyphonic sampling memory is not "1.5GB", lulz.

And, lastly, Synhouse has the Synclavier 9600 in stock (two kinds, actually). Nobody else does."

New England Digital Synclavier Brochure VPK Sample-to-Disk VT640

via this eBay listing

"This is an incredibly rare brochure from the summer of 1984 (when NED was working on polyphonic sampling Synclavier to be shown October 1984 and there was no actual system in production, the few shipped were hybrids of the Synclavier V/PK retrofitted to a Synclavier II Control Unit) that shows things that NED didn't exactly make, ever.

This was their first---and last---mention of "The Tapeless Studio" meaning the sequencer (later that meant the Direct-to-Disk system). It describes the SMPTE Reader Option without using that term because it wasn't yet available and they hadn't figured out how it would be done yet (similar to the 1987 discussion of the not-yet-released 3rd party SMPTE reader for the Linn 9000, saying they weren't sure whether or not it would require additional hardware to be added to the Linn 9000....that's the sound of someone who hasn't ever used SMPTE and doesn't know what it is), and it shows a graphical flow chart showing polyphonic sampling and multi-channel outputs (neither available then as building blocks), and is intentionally vague about the "floppy disk system" and "Winchester disks", as they didn't really have the set offering for that (high density Superfloppy, not out until 1985, and 5mb and 10mb IMI MFM Winchester drives being common, neither with SCSI until 9/1985).

It describes the Stereo Option, Sample-to-Disk, SCRIPT/MAX, and different Control Unit enclosures.

Most strangely, it shows a V/PK that never existed, with a back panel that wasn't made, with Synclavier II connectors that were never used and, sadly, an on/off power switch that they never put on this $11,000 machine.

The Sound of Prince with the Oberheim 🎹

One of my favorite tracks from the 80s.
When Doves Cry by Prince from the album Purple Rain (1984)

I used the 1010music bento with LM-1 samples and tuned the sound.
The bento works great as sample based drummachine for me.

And I used the Oberheim OB-Xa synthesizer for all synth sounds.
I played the guitar sample with the E-MU Emulator II."

NightRadio - Where (2008) demo

video upload by Alexander Zolotov

"This demo was created in 2007-2008 using an early version of Pixilang 1.x. The music was written specifically for this work. But something went wrong, and the demo ended up gathering dust in the archives until 2025, when I decided to restore it, make minimal edits, and finally release it in video format. The source files will be made public later. By the way, the 'Where' soundtrack, unlike the demo, was not abandoned and was released as part of the 'Back to the Sources' album in 2009. The music, of course, was composed in SunVox."
