"Version3 of the cr8000 modification project. This is my old broken Roland CR8000, modified to allow control of various parameters of the analogue voices. Bandpass filter on the rimshot, clav tuning, hi-hat decay, kick tom and conga tune, clap noise level, oscillator array tuning, midi with midi volume control (alters the strength of the trigger, and effects synthesis parameters). This is the 3rd version. . . everything rewired, and spooled inside. There are some minor probems remaining. i've been experimenting wih contact points as well, and am finding these more interesting than knobs for control."

YouTube via sizzor87454. No synth pictured in the video, but let's just say this one showcases the Roland TB-303. It's one of my favorite TB-303 basslines from back then. It begins to take over about halfway into the track. Another one of my other favorite 303 tracks at the time was Lords of Acid's "I Sit on Acid" and not the current version floating around. A friend of mine had a version of the track that was all squelchy 303 with no distortion. If anyone knows were to find this earlier version or has even heard it feel free to comment. BTW, for KLF and rave fans, check out this live performance in 1989. Not the best audio but kind of fun to watch, especially with the keyboard hanging off the tower. Make sure to read the discription by clicking "more" when there.
For those of you that just have to have them, title link takes you to the details on Sun Pop Blue, or you can go directly here to listen to and download them. Serge and Roland JX-8P are featured. BTW, anyone know if there's free ringtone software out there for making your own?
via Knox.
Update: I asked Knox what was used in the ringtones. He replied with:
"Atombee is almost all serge. Molecule men is reason + jupiter 6 + sp-1200 - using some serge and other samples. serenity applicator is serge, jx-8p + sp-1200."
"Further adventures in extreme music geekdom. This is me playing Kraftwerk's "Pocket Calculator" on a Mattel Bee Gees Rhythm Machine keyboard, followed by Kraftwerk's Ralf Hutter playing the song live one their Mattel Bee Gees Rhythm Machine. Except theirs is all painted black to hide the "Bee Gees" bit. Clever. You can also see this keyboard on the "Computer World" LP jacket. The other hand-held noisemakers are a Stylophone, TI Language Translator (same sound chip as the Speak & Spell), and a home-made electronic percussion trigger." Sent my way via J Lesser.
A new live electro-house'ish track featuring the Korg ESX on samples, drums and effects processing for guitar. EMX on synths and drums. Novation KS handling Vocoding and synth.
I have been wanting to test the vocoder in my K-Station for a while now, and now I got the chance. I'ts weird yes i know :)
And no, there's no great meaning behind the words "I want to be your drummachine" That's all i could think of while playing this.
I had to cut the video down a bit (about a minute), because of the youtube lenght limits. The you can hear the full higher quality version from the Mp3.

"In the 70s, Schrader was one of the first to work with the now famous Buchla 100 Modular Synthesizer (also played by Wendy Carlos, among others) and at the forefront of a movement which would change the face of the music world forever. Today, meanwhile, his analog equipment from that period is mostly considered "retro" at best and, although only 30 years old, considered as out-of-date by many."

"purplelovers is at it again! we took a perfectly good CS1x and transformed it into an awesome and convenient space saving tabletop synth module.... WE DONT CIRCUIT BEND! - WE TRANSFORM!"
Details: "This auction is for the 6 PAiA modulars cases in the picture, number from 1 to 6. These are part of my collection that I am selling. Modules have been tested and here are the details of the 6 systems. I will also include 3 PAiA 4700 keyboards, one will have the computer system, the others CV. I will also include copies of the manuals for the modules so you can do a full restoration.
I have another system that I am keeping. If you'd like to hear and see what a PAiA can do, go to www.musicofsoftware.com and look in the video section. When these systems are calibrated up they sound very close to a moog modular.
system #1: these are all pretty much 2700 modules. most of them work. one or two dont or just need calibration.
system #2: requires external psu, jack included. this cabinet is painstakingly restored and calibrated. one of the VCO square outputs is not working. everything else is good.
system #3: all modules are not tested as they are not connected to the PSU rails. the reverb needs a tank. there is no reason to suspect they dont work - they look fine.
system #4: VCO 1 not working, VCF 1 needs calibration, EG leds not working (but the EG works), PSU led not working, Reverb need tank
system #5: the 2700 VCO triangle output is dead
system #6: VCO 1 not working, VCF needs calibration, sequencer mostly works but seems to have a short. this is typical of these sequencers as there is a lot of places where shorts can happen. a short doesnt damage anything, it just makes the step sequencing unreliable so i am sure its just a matter of seeking out the shorts and fixing them."

Details: "This particular sixtrak includes a fully active buffering multi-output modification!! I built the modification. This allows the audio from each of the 6 voices output from a separate jack for each voice. The cool thing about the sixtrak is that it is multi-timbral so each voice can have a separate and distinct sound on it. Further, and this is the only multi-timbral SCI synth that does this: each of the parameters of each voice can be controlled with midi CC messages!! The Multi-Trak, although it has multi-outs DOES NOT support CC so you cant change the sounds in real time; the Six Trak ALLOWS this!!
The modification takes the audio off each voice and buffers with with an opamp so that its hot and clean. The mod also switches off the outputs when the unit self-tunes so you dont hear the tuning tone. The mono out still works as stock."
"Arpeggi8 is a simple to use, hardware based arpeggiator. Offering 1000's of pattern variations via a real time user interface with analogue controls. Input is via MIDI from a keyboard, pc or sequencer and the resulting patterns are transmitted via MIDI to a pc, sound module and MIDI CV interface."
Update: Be sure to check out the comments. I was going to continue updating the post with them but figured I'd just call out to check them instead. With all posts it's a good idea to check out the comments for more info.

Update via Doktor Future in the comments:
"Dr. Who needs no banjos or Moog ladders. It's not about the East Coast vs. West Coast sound at all -- it's about the UK sound, which, as you know, comes from outer-space.
In fact, EMS in the UK got their start by stealing an Atron energy nebulizer from a type-40 TARDIS. Normally, this would not be cause for concern as the device was genetically keyed, but the average UK citizen is so inbred that by lucky statistical chance, EMS found not only that they could activate the device, but that somehow they could get impressions from the Matrix itself!
After many astral voyages at the EMS laboratories, it became clear that true access to the historical knowledge of the Time Lords would be impossible due to the defenses of the latent psychic energy of all timelords past, so they set to work on a device capable of distracting the Matrix's mental defenders.
This became known as the EMS 100, and became the centerpiece for their own make-shift TARDIS.
About this time the BBC needed some ideas for good shows, so the EMS folks created another EMS 100 unit at the BBC Radiophonic headquarters so their engineers could also be inspired by the hyper-galactic knowledge of the Matrix.
Of course, portable versions of their technologies were placed in select hands over the ages. Each artist was given a goal: design a unique composition that can distract the time-lord defenders so as to access the true Matrix directly.
One of the most introspective works, giving almost total sub-conscious access to the Matrix was the well known album 'Dark side of the moon'. What is not well known however is that the word 'moon' in the title of the Album refers to "Pazithi Gallifreya" (Gallifrey's moon), and the nodum-quazmulcator buried within its surface.
Humanity owes so much to the psycho-quantum-sonic attributes of the the EMS line of 'synthesizers'!
Sadly, once the Presidents Council discovered the breech, they issued an edict to EMS to halt production of their technology to all without Gallifreyan permits.
This has created an underground bidding war for EMS devices. Even though the atron nebulizers have been disabled by the Time Lords, many still collect the devices to reminisce to the 'good ol days' when Matrix security was as porous as the US Government's firewalls.
There are rumors however, that a new type of Atron-nebulizer emulation may soon be available.
If so, and we can only hope, that a new wave of EMS devices will be available for todays generation of psycho-temporal-astral knowledge seekers."
This is a great book btw, especially if you are into synth pics.
BTW, don't miss the updated Synth Books, Synth CDs and Synth Movies section on the right of this site. If you know of any to add feel free to send them my way or comment. Note I don't want the cd list to get out of hand, so I'm limiting that section to CDs that showcase a given synth or two max.
Cord posted the following to the Waldorf list. I asked him if I could put it up and he gave the all clear.
"I made a short track with my XTk (10 voices), only the drums are from my MPC1k (and there is only snare and bass). I actually wanted to get more familiar with the JJ OS for my MPC1k (I am only used to the 60) and came up with some ideas. I always wanted to put these bubble sounds into something. Nothing great, just something I put together in my limited spare time...and do not expect Trippler quality here! But maybe you like the PPG aura, I wanted to create."
Ross sent me the following list of one synth only CDs. I put the ones available via Amazon on the right section of the site under CDs. BTW I previously had CDs, DVDs and Books all in the same section. I decided to break it out so it's easier to parse. If anyone knows where you can get the other CDs let me know and I'll update the list. For now I just created artist links, so what you'll find will be hit and miss.
