"PRISTINE Yamaha DX5 FM synth with 32 voices and 2 built in DX7's ! It shares more similarity however with the DX1 ....It is basically and more affordable version ( the DX5 still sold for £3000 new in 1985 !! YES ! that was the equivilent to at least £20,000 today ! )
...It is built like a tank to the highest standards....SOLID metal construction. They simply don't make synths of this quality anymore ! It has balanced studio outputs aswell as jack connections.... It has all the great circuitry and pure signal path of the DX1 !"
via this auction "The big star here is the filter; it is the same filter that was put in the mighty Yamaha GX-1 (One could debate as to it being Yamaha biggest, most wonderful synth ever; the only contender being the CS-80 but even then, the GX-1 was much more elaborate and expensive). Personally I'd describe this filter as sitting somewhere between the larger Yamaha CS units' filter and that of the MS-20 (But much more musical than the MS20's). It can get extremely resonate (it has both a low-pass AND high-pass filter, both featuring separate resonance controllers) making it great for squelchy basslines. There are lots of control options for this synth, it just takes a little time to wrap your head around what Yamaha thought was a good thing to name a control function and what it actually does. One could liken it to a 1 (maybe 2) VCO synth with 2 envelopes, a LFO, slide, VCF in, touch modulation, Pulsewidth control, etc. The unit also come with the original foot expression pedal for sweeping the filter, volune, etc, the metal stand legs (two poles are missing the plastic parts on the feet but I'm sure you can find those off an old desk or at Home Depot or something. I've never needed them), and the top of the case which latches on, protecting the synth for transport (as you can see the synth is built like a flight case). There is a section inside the top to store the legs as well."

"Elo Playing Daybreaker 1974"
This one in via brian c. Mike Edwards, aka Swami Deva Pramada, the cellist of ELO, passed away on September 3rd. via Wikipedia:
"Pramada was killed on the A381 between Harbertonford and Halwell near where he lived in Totnes in Devon, on 3 September 2010, when a cylindrical hay bale weighing six hundred kilograms (1323 lbs.) rolled down a hillside and collided with the van he was driving. He was sixty-two years old. Devon and Cornwall Police and the Health and Safety Executive are investigating the cause of the accident"

Update via Aud1073cH in the comments: "I've got one of these- Sharper Image has their name on it, but it was made by Vocolo. The same people that brought us the Vocalizer 1000. (Just search for Captain Kazoo on YouTube.)"
Update via john in the comments: "No - not made by the same people that made the Vocalizer. I know, because I am one of the inventors! :-)"

"This is the second, limited edition, orange sparkle, silkscreened, Jupiter III available to earthlings and it could be yours!
Whether making alien transmissions or bringing your music into the next dimension, Jupiter III will take you there and beyond. Jupiter III is a unique, handheld, fully analog synth that can be played 3 ways - 1) by tapping the case via it's internal piezo pickup, 2) like a theremin via it's optical sensor and 3) triggered by any external sound source, including an mp3 player, drum machine or guitar via it's 1/4" input. Jupiter III is perfect for home recording as it takes up very little space on your desktop. It's a huge sounding, fully handmade, mini analog synthesizer with very awesome graphics and an orange sparkle paint job, that'll give you light years of sonic enjoyment and impress your friends. You cannot get this device anywhere else except right here, direct from COS.

"'On location in Hamburg with Wolfgang Palm' is a little 'vintage style' documentary we did in April 2010, showing Wolfgang Palm, former owner of the PPG Synthesizer company, inventor of the world's first digital synthesizer and wavetable synthesis, in front of historic 'PPG locations' in Hamburg, talking about the old times... Directed & idea by CS.
This is part 1 of 3 with English voice overdubbing for international PPG fans. There is also a version with original audio in German language.
YouTube cut off the last sentence. It is: "I don't know, I can't remember..." - Watch it complete in Part 2!
English voice & translation by Darrin C. Huss, voice of Psyche."
Descriptions for parts 2 and 3 are essentially the same minus the part references.
"Here's a test with the new Vermona Kick Lancet, really an amazing synth kick... u can obtain sweet and light kick, to booom one, to 909 aggressive style... more u have all the knobs in front of you for a real analogue style control.... really amazing in my opinion... it's based on the kick of the DRM1 MKIII, but it has more controls for more info go to vermona website http://vermona.com tnx to Thomas @ Vermona test by Deep88"
"We have a lot of nice news for the Machinedrum. The new Machinedrum OS 1.62 adds the much asked for feature of letting you rename ROM samples. The Sample bank quick access mode and the possibility to write protect Snapshots and Sample banks are other convenient features this update brings. Because of the new OS functionality the Machinedrum manual and the C6 SysEx tool have been updated as well. Download the new OS, manual and C6 version in the Support and Downloads section.
Today we also introduce Machinedrum Sound Packs. They are great tool kits for almost any genre. No less than seven Sound Packs are now available, consisting of a total of 23 Snapshots linked to 23 dedicated Sample banks. Each Snapshot features 4 patterns demonstrating the content of the Sample bank. The 500 samples are studio recorded, 100% royalty free, and found nowhere else.
All Machinedrum SPS-1UW+ MKII units come with these seven Sound Packs pre-installed. When upgrading a UW MKII with a +Drive they are included as well. Current Machinedrum UW users can download the Sound Packs in the Support and Download section. Note though that they are specially made for UW MKII models as some of the Sample banks exceed the sample memory limit of the UW MKI. If you are curious about how the Sound Packs sound you can listen to them at the Machinedrum SPS-1UW+ MKII Sights and Sounds page."

"There is some more work to do and I need help how to do it.
1. I'll change 40106 for BC547 in GATE OUT. No help needed :)
2. How to make 16 steps? Single switch 2x8/1x16 needed. There is unused 4001 left, and I can manage to build logic with unused 4520Q3. But how to link CV2 to 1 and GATE OUT2 to 1? Or maybe there is other option?
3. Can 555 handle 12V? I'd like to run all from +12V.
4. Portamento seems to work even when it's OFF. At the moment caps are 22uF and seems to be too large (portamento is too long), but will change to 2u2F, maybe even less. Will report after try.
"This synth is open source, and the source code is included in the same package. It comes with an easy waveform editor that lets you create entire new banks of waveforms while you test the sound of them. These new banks can be imported into 8 slots per oscilator, this means that you can have up to 16 different banks giving you more than 1000 waveforms to toy with. The synth is configured to have the same 8 banks in both oscilators. But it doesn't stop there.
The synth has also 9 different filters that processes the oscilators. The synth is relatively low on the cpu side, and it is configured to withstand most cpu spikes. When a voice (16 total) is not in use then it goes to sleep freeing up further more cpu."
