"Hello ! My name is Frederic Gerchambeau. I have made this movie. The music has been made in one take with Plogue Bidule (sequencer) and an Analogue Solutions Semblance (sounds). It is based on a sequencer i have made with Plogue Bidule. That sequencer is centered on sample and hold in a very complex way. Enjoy ! http://www.myspace.com/fredericgercha..."
An extra note via Frederic on the sequencer and why I gave this one the Featured label: "I have made with Plogue Bidule a very new kind of sequencer. It's based on sample and hold. But not the chaotic kind of sample and hold that is heard every day. This is very well studied and controlled and it's generating notes. That makes "Sample and cold" is the first track of its kind."
"Alpha version of a Tracking Gate Sequencer from 4ms. One of 8 outputs goes high, in order from 1 to 8, each time a clock pulse is received. A reset jack lets you start over at 1. (so far it's just like the A-161, except with on-board clock and reset jacks).
The "Track" CV jack allows you to move between outputs using a CV value. So if you feed it a triangle wave, it will count up from jack 1 to 8 and then back from 8 counting down to 1. A falling sawtooth will count backwards. A square wave will bounce between two values... etc. The tracking feature only happens when the CV value on the jack *changes*. So if you hold a steady CV (or a sufficiently slow CV), you can still clock it. This is pretty useful for a "one step forward, two steps back" type sequence.
So far only one jumper is assigned, and it's Gate/Trigger mode. In the former each output will stay high until the next output goes high. In the latter, each output only goes high for as long as the input clock is high."
"'Short, short summer' was written in 1979 where Denmark had had a summer dominated by heavy rain. It was performed by Torben Lendager and was a hit in 1980.
I took a little walk near one of the Danish fiords on one the last summer days this year and I think this melody fits the situation quite well - even though the summer this was OK.
The instruments used are Roland SH-2000 synthesizer, Yamaha HE-8 organ, Roland CR-1000 drum machine, and Kawai MS-20 keyboard. I recorded it back in 1999 using two Beocord 2000 tape recorders."

"The first in a series of insights into some of the recording methods and equipment used in recording Woob. Volume 1 takes a stylised look at the X50i a custom built spring reverb (circa 1988).
The soundtrack is comprised of sounds processed with the unit as-well as those of hitting scraping brushing and combing the reverb springs, combined with additional processing and sound design.

"Hi !
This is a Sakata Dpm 48, a drumcomputer made back in the 80s. Its allso known as 'Juggbox' or under the name of Hammond.
Its got din-sync in and output and seperatoutputs for all the instruments. I show how you can record a beat in realtime or stepmode. The sound is not perfect due too the fact its recorded straight into Youtube...
If you're intrested in buying this one send me a personal message ! I'm willing to send to it." [on YouTube]
"Oberheim Four Voice analog synthesizer in perfect working condition with original working cassette interface, the synth tunes great and all the SEM units are calibrated and no tuning issues. The synth has some modifications, there are two ports on the top for connecting two included heavy duty 24 pin (I think) cables which have all the inputs to modularize the synth for every parameter on every voice! You would just need to build a panel with the patch cables and connect to the cables, all the inputs are documented so it wouldn't be hard for a tech to do..."
"This particular EML 101, from what I can gather, is factory modded at the request of the original buyer. It has what I would consider to be almost a bowling ball swirly color scheme and design as you can see in the pictures. It also has the factory mod wheel installed. I've asked questions, searched the net and this seems to be one of a kind."
"Waldorf Q Phoenix synthesizer with the optional 32-voice expansion installed. Rare, and in mint condition. I bought this new in June 2010, and had the 32-voice expansion installed by a Waldorf-authorized service center. The synth is $2500 new, and the voice expansion is $350 plus the cost of shipping the synth to a service center and the installation labor."

"Using an Arduino, voltage-to-frequency converter, and digital-to-analog converter to make a wavetable oscillator. The sinewave output is stored in a memory array on the Arduino, and read out at varying frequencies - which are determined by a voltage input. See more at http://www.gregsurges.com/"
"The scientific discoveries and technological innovations produced by Bell System research and engineering were critical not only to the evolution of global telecommunications but, more widely, they had a considerable impact on the technological base of the global economy and, indeed, on our daily lives.
Bell Labs is the source of many significant contributions, of course, in the area of telephony, but also in memory devices, imaging devices, system organization, computers and software technology, as well as acoustics, optics, switching, transmission, wireless and data communication....
With this posting of the Bell System Technical Journal from volume 1 issue 1 in July 1922 to the final issue published in December 1983, we are pleased to be able to open the vault of this knowledge to our global technical colleagues."

"Page 57 and lead up on page 56: this is a tuned band pass filter with variable Q. You just need one tube, one variable capacitor, and one variable inductor. Works well up to "2,000,000 cycles".
Also see the next point on page 60: Feed-Back Amplifiers. Looks fairly interestingly like a ladder filter, don't you think? And uses resistances. This means: voltage control!!"
Update via Eric Barbour of metasonix in the comments: "No. It is not a 'ladder filter'. This was a very early article about tube amplifiers, and all the discussion focuses on their use in telephone installations, primarily as repeater amps."
"simple shitte phone video of quantimator LED action. scale mode- triangle LFO input, 1 sec of the sport modulator is clocking and the other is initiating HOLD periodically [LEDs light in sequence in time with triggers] to vco. when HOLD is high in scale mode, the 3 'notes' in memory are looped. il liked this tune."
"Bass music innovator Diplo (Major Lazer, M.I.A.) throwing light on the method behind some of the most distinctive beats and sounds of recent years. Find out why Komplete 7, and particularly Massive, play a central role in the production of his hybrid, bass-heavy dance music.

"Here's a quick demo showing the sound and speed of my upcoming B/C button accordion app. The sound was recorded right from the iPad with my camcorder.
I don't currently play the button accordion, I'm just starting out learning to play using the app.
Here's the first tune I was able to pick out after playing with the app for about an hour.
There is also a C#/D version that will be released at the same time with a similar interface."
"Trois beaux oiseaux du paradis by Maurice Ravel - performed by thereminist, Randy George and the Gaudete Brass Quintet. download video in High Definition at: http://bit.ly/GBQRGM
Arrangement for brass quintet and voice by Paul Von Hoff. Video produced by Randy George. Recorded on September 2, 2010 in Long Beach, CA.
The theremin was invented in 1919, about five years after Ravel composed this work.
The beautiful work of Maurice Ravel is the second of his Trois Chansons for unaccompanied choir.
The music tells of a conversation between a woman and three beautiful birds from paradise, one blue, one white, and one red. The woman's beloved has gone off to war and she is asking the birds for news. The blue and white birds relay a gaze and a kiss respectively. The woman now queries the red bird and the red bird tell her of her beloved's death.
In this edition; the woman is the voice of the theremin, the blue bird is the trombone, the white bird is the second flugelhorn and the red bird is the tuba.
English Translation of the original French text:
Three beautiful birds of paradise, (My beloved is away at war) Three beautiful birds of paradise Have passed by here, The first was bluer than the sky, (My beloved is away at war) The second was the color of snow, The third of reddest red.
"Lovely lottle birds of paradise, (My beloved is away at war) Lovely little birds of paradise, What brings you here?" "I bring a look from blue eyes, (Your beloved is away at war)" "And I, on your snow-white brow, Am to lay a kiss, even purer."
Red bird of paradise, (My beloved is away at war) Red bird of paradise, What do you bring?" "A dear heart all crimson, (Your beloved is away at war)"... "Oh! I feel my heart growing cold... Take it with you."
