Personal side note: The more I see the XL the more I realize this would be the ultimate master keyboard controller for someone like me. Full on brute force analog, full modular capabilities, ribbon controller, touch pad, and full keyboard with velocity and aftertouch for playing racked synths. The knobs transmit MIDI CC messages for software I'd want to map with.

"I was very surprised when I found out that Native Instruments had reanimated the well known Electronic Instruments XT bundles (1 + 2). Those instruments - based on the Reaktor engine - run as a standalone app and a VSTi as well. A couple of yeras ago NI discontinued the developement and sale and since then these bundles were hardly missed. Now they're part of Reaktor 5.5! THX a lot for that, NI!
What I still miss in Reaktor is the DSQ32 drumsynth/sequencer. It was part of Reaktor4 and in my opinion it is still one of the best sequenced drum synths ever! It is missed since Reaktor 5.0 and it never came back. Well, I still got the DSQ32.ens and fortunately it runs pretty well on Reaktor 5.5. So I made this lil' vid.
The DSQ32 is running in realtime together w/ the sequenced synthesizer Viering (Reaktor 4) and the new Lazerbass (Reaktor 5.5). Lazerbass is triggered by the Monoliner step sequencer (Reaktor 4).
Screenrecorded w/ Microsoft Expression Encoder. It's free, it's damned cool but it has a 10 minutes limitation. But dang, it's the only screenrecorder that works properly on my Win7 64bit system."

S1MIDITrigger for iPad Adds Sysex Support, Import/Export & More
What's New in Version V3.3.0:
- Import / Export Banks with iTunes
- SysEx supports (except DS MIDI Wifi Server)
- Add Note No. in Pad Setting view
- Add Label control
- Add selected frame on Design view
- Hard spot range to Knob and Slider
Update: It looks like only the Pad trigger control (colored squares in pic) supports sysex at this time. Sliders and X/Y Pad currently do not. When I first posted this I noted that I would finally crack my Yamaha FS1R. That will have to wait. CC support on it is limited and sysex is the only way to get to all of it's parameters aside from its keyhole editing interface. Currently no app for the iPad that I'm aware of supports sliders that can transmit SysEx. Update: Sysex support for sliders and knobs are in with V3.4.0.

This is an earlier model 2601 and DOES have the "coveted" 4012 "Moog" style filter...
This synth also has the upgraded 3620 keyboard which added some much needed features to the Arp. First, it added an "upper voice" feature, which gives this synth a duo-phonic capability, as you can hook this second voice up to one of the oscillators and play intervals. Second, it has a built-in LFO with delay capability. A limitation of the Arp was that you had to sacrifice one of your oscillators if you wanted to use a sin-wave modulation source. No more! I don't recall if the old keyboard had portamento, but the new one definitely does."

DIY Arduino Based Ribbon Controller

I think that this type of controller fits very well to control virtual instruments such as strings and horns, as it is characterized by a position and pressure sensitive ribbon, so you can control in a very intuitive way the notes pitch and velocity. I decided to do a MIDI ribbon controller using Arduino."

* In May, we made modular synthesis accessible (thanks to Amos Gaynes and August Worley) by transforming Erik Norlander's legendary "Wall of Doom" custom modular Moog synthesizer from a 6' x 7' monolithic structure into six portable rack mount cases. It was featured at our spring fundraiser Moogus Operandi. This unique instrument will travel once again this spring (and beyond), giving audiences new insights into the origin of synthesis.
* In October, the Bob Moog Foundation wowed standing-room-only audiences at Moogfest with historical, educational and technical panels and discussions, drawing the attention of the New York Times and The Wall Street Journal . That same month, preservationist Seva Ball finished restoring and transferring 88 reel-to-reel tapes from our archives.
* Throughout the year, we exposed children and adults to the science of sound through MoogLab; we gave people all over the world a rare glimpse into some little known facets of the Moog legacy through historian Brian Kehew's detailed explorations of moments in time captured in material from our archives; and we reveled in the varied and important work of our corps of committed, talented volunteers.

CEM3350 and the Rhodes Chroma
This came in on the Rhodes Chroma list via Heinz:
"Here a discription of the CEM3350 what I believe it's working. Note all components red marked in the schematic are always present in the Chroma. All OTAs are LM13700.
What is new is SW 2. If it is set to the right position we got a BP response. Together with SW1 to right postion we got an Allpass. The circiut is not adapted to the Chroma yet. Frequency control is set to somewhat 0.5V/Octave. My problem at the moment is the Q-control. When I'm pulling the FIX input to ground (no pos. feedback) the filter behaves as described. Because I have no audio sweeper I did't know what is the Q when stepping trough from 0-6 with Q-control. My only choice is the pink noise source as a audio source and measure the increase of output level at a fixed frequency i.e. 32. But - the source isn't bad but not the best. So what I need is more measurements from different Chromas to have an average. Ok - the next problem. The LM13700 needs current sources for control. Thus the expo converter is hooked up around a PNP array. Hard to find and all controls have the opposite direction. But the good news. The filter is breadboarded and on my bench. It oscillates from 16kHz to appr.12 Hz (better as in simulation). Because I have no quad PNP array I've glued two 2SA798 together. In other words - the filter works.
