A 'modern' primitive device--with plenty of inputs, outputs, and flexibility. Even though it has only four drum sounds -- two tunable drums, a tunable "snare" drum (harder sounding than the others), and a cymbal -- control voltage inputs give great flexibility. Each of the tunable drums is made from a vacuum tube ringing bandpass filter, and can be tuned to sound from below 20 Hz to over 2 kHz. They are also tunable with external control voltages, allowing complex patterns to be built up with external CV or pulse sources. Resonance of each filter circuit is set by internal trimpots. The cymbal sound is an extremely primitive circuit, with white noise gated by a pentode tube. The cymbal's attack is knob-variable and CV variable, from a sharp click to a soft "whoosh". The four outputs mix to a single tube preamp that allows for overdriving via the mix-level controls. In keeping with the primitive nature of the soundmaking section, the pattern sequencer is extremely simple. Unlike early drumboxes, we won't subject you to preset nonsense like "waltz", "foxtrot", "swing" or the like. Instead, there is a single 8-pulse sequence with separate enable switches for each drum sound--set a toggle switch up to get the sound at that point, down for silence. Great for house, hardcore or other simple 4/4 patterns. The internal clock is settable from 60 BPM to over 1000 BPM. There is also a "roll" clock signal built-in, to generate a faster drumroll on any drum sound by pressing a button (speed is preset with an internal trimpot). If you don't like the internal sequencer, there are individual trigger inputs for each of the four sounds (the trigger pulse must be 0 to 5v, and less than 40 mS long). These trigger inputs operate in parallel with the built-in sequencer, so the D-1000's sounds may be triggered by its internal sequence and external pulses at the same time. As a bonus, the three tunable drums can also be used as tunable bandpass filters, by feeding a line audio signal to each trigger input. Ample inputs and outputs: mix output (with overdriveable tube preamp), separate outputs for each drum sound, external trigger inputs for each drum sound, and a main clock output (0-5v) for slaving external generators to the internal clock. No, it does not sound like a TR-606. It's a beast you have never seen or heard before."

"Burn-in test running for 8 hours straight. May need to install fan as power supply's heat sinks were hot enuf to cook an egg, but the oscillators appeared to be stable. And still sounds awesome."

"This week I have yet another artist inspired pack, it’s something I’ve had in the works for a while so I wanted to share. Ki: Theory or Joel Burleson is an amazing band/artist. I couldn’t help when he shared the stems for his song “Open Wound” to quickly turn it into a soundpack. While a remix would be a normal producer’s go to on this, I decided to not only utilize the stems but to make something everyone could enjoy and experience. Soundpacks are a great way to remix, reimagine, and just jam on some of your favorite songs, and make something completely new out of it. With this soundpack I utilized most of the stems but also added a few samples of my own and a good dose of FX for flavor. It is made up of 2 banks/32+ samples and a ton of variation. You have melodic piano, driving guitar and a few vocal stabs. On top of that, if I didn’t learn my lesson last week…I’m at it again using another one of ULT1MOD’s lightshows to showcase this week’s soundpack, my computer didn’t explode but it gave me hell. Defects: The potentiometer which adjusts range is slightly askew and sits at a slight angle. (See picture.) It is 100% functional.
There is a scratch in the aluminum (See picture.)
There are tiny scratches here and there, look carefully at the pics. The paint is original and in great shape."

It based on solid sounding cem3374 as vco, and cem3372 as vcf with quite harshly and characterfull resonanse. Synth has very flexible architecture, which allows us to get really wide pallete of sounds. It can do all - thick basses, edgy leads, dark evolving pads, wild crazy fx. I know that this was developed by ARP engineers, and it comes to mind that it is some kind of "polyphonic odyssey", but with more harsh and brutal sound. No doubt it is one of the best FX machine ever build, its sound effects just mind blowing. It has MIDI, and one exellent implementation. You can easy drive in realtime all synth parameters by midi CC. Synth has 6 voice polyphony and even 6 part multitimbral, but only one mono audio out. It has freely splittable keyboard with velocity, you can play one sound in left hand and other in the right, or you can layer one sound on another for all keyboard range with 3-voice polyphony.
Synth is fully serviced, the main problem with its membrane buttons successfully solved, it will works for years."

The data slider has been replaced with a new one (from Wine Country in the USA).
The unit is in full working order. Cosmetically there are a few small marks, but nothing serious. Please see pics!

volca sampleにはレゾナントフィルターが付いていませんが、
長めのシンセ波形をレゾナンス量違いで複数ロードしておくと、
スタートポイントとサンプルナンバーのリアルタイム切り替えによって
アシッドライクなミニマルフレーズを組むことができるのではないかと思い、試してみました。
終盤はループレングスとピッチをつまみで好き勝手いじって遊んでます（これもvolca sampleの特徴的なサウンドの一つです）。
サンプリング元のシンセサイザーはDave Smith Instruments TETRA、ドラムはClavia nord drum2のものです。
volcaへのサンプル流し込みにはCaustic Editor for Volca Sampleを使用しました。"
