Modular Beat

Modular Beat from Isotope Of Me on Vimeo.

"This little demonstration is day 1 with some new modules: No midi or computer was used to generate the sound, this is strictly modular synth only, alone, with nothing else, at all, and stuff. This patch consists of 2 oscillators, 1 filtet, 1 doepfer quad eg, the 4ms RCD, an LFO, a Ring Modulator, a noise source, TipTop Audio ZDSP, and a Doepfer VC Mixer.

Both of the oscillators and the filter are doing double duty as modulators and sound sources. The LFO is triggering the RCD, which in turn is sending triggers to the quad envelope generator. The EGs are driving the CV inputs of the 4 input CV mixer which is acting as 4 vcas. The filter is self oscillating, and being ring modulated by one of the outputs of the Z3000.

All of that, in turn, is being fed into the right and left inputs of the ZDSP using the dragonfly delay card. The stereo delay is set to a very short delay time, with 50% feedback, and a LPF filtering out the high frequency ringing. I can’t call it Karplus Strong, but I can call it Karplus Weak. The delay is giving the beat a lot of its body, and bass."

"The Bug XI By Ben Houston .
This custom piece is part of a folktek series entitled "philanthropoid"". Known simply as the Bug series. Also in the series on the site and around the world is the Mantis, dronescape sequencer, the book of sound, the moth, the growling insect, the bug, the octa-hedra, walking stick, pendulum translator and others. The sound is phenomenol and continues to amaze us. It is a sonic symphony of nasty and grimy sweetness, endless layers of sound possibilities emenating from High quality OSC originally based on high tech speech synthesis. Seemingly random bits can be rediscovered time and time again and then there are those moments that you will most likely never rediscover. Endlessly captivating, this piece WILL provide sounds that you will not find in other synthesizers and will astonish you every time you turn it on.

This particular piece features four patchable knobs, and a twelve point magnetic patchbay. This allows you to determine function and provides tons of flexibility. In addition, two more knobs (global knob control and power kill) , glowing lamp power indicator , 2 folktek button/switches for activate and freeze mode sections, reset, 1/4" output, basic manual of function and layout. You'll be able to cipher through waveforms and textures with extreme sensitivity in thousands of ways. Waveforms (individual, or multiple layers) can be captured and maintained, often intermodulating in beautiful and/or disturbing ways. Super sensitive knobs let you filter through tons of sounds and glitchscapes. Albums are waiting to be created here as the sound is quite different from anything else you'll find.."

First we import a field recording (made earlier using Hokusai on iPhone, and transferred to the iPad via Dropbox).

I trim out my favourite takes, then combine them together using multiple tracks and the "hands-on editing" feature, where, instead of cutting and pasting, you simply "lift" your audio up off the track and slide it into place.

Mixing the tracks back down, I apply a series of special effects, then export the result as an MPEG 4 Audio file to Dropbox, and it appears automatically on my desktop computer a few seconds later."

D.C. Systems Custom Timing / Sequencer / Trigger Module

via this auction
via the seller:
"I bought this highly interesting-looking sequencer/clock divider/timing module many years ago but never found the time to try and get it to work since I never acquired a modular synthesizer to integrate it into as I'd intended.

I am unable to say if or how well it works. I don't even know exactly what it does, but you can see that it has S-Trig ins and outs and a host of other features which indicate that it is a sequencer/clock divider of some kind.

This is a one-of-akind custom module that's been very professionally built by an outfit called "D.C. Systems".

Maybe a forerunner of another modular synth company? Maybe defunct altogether?"

ROLAND JUPITER 6 JP-6 VINTAGE ANALOG SYNTHESIZER

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
via this auction

SN 353931

"The Jupiter 6, conforming with others in the Jupiter series, is unlike any other synth. This nique sound is due in part to classic Roland analog technology in it's filters, modulation capabilities, and 12 analog oscillators at 2 per voice. Although it seems the JP-6 is just a scaled down version of the Jupiter 8, the Jupiter 6 features some major improvements including better tuning stability and the implementation of MIDI (The second synth to ever offer MIDI, the Prophet 600 being the first by a few weeks). The Jupiter 6 features 12 analog oscillators (2 per voice), and is bitimbral, allowing its keyboard to be split into two sounds, one with 4 voices, and one with the remaining 2 voices. 'Whole Mode' is also available, dedicating all 6 voices to a single sound across the entire keyboard.

Unlike the Juno’s, of which the Jupiter 6 shares some features, the JP-6 is equipped with two excellent, independent ADSR envelopes. Other performance features that round out the Jupiter is an excellent arpeggiator that is capable of up, down, and up and down patterns selectable by up to a four octave range. Surprisingly enough, the JP-6 is not a complicated synth to own or operate. Everything seems intuitive and purposeful, which is the the hallmark of thoughtful synthesizer design. The Jupiter 6 has very warm, slightly thin, but aggressive sounds. As a lead synth, the JP-6 has an incredible palette that synth players will find easy to play and manipulate the sounds simultaneously in many different ways. This may be the most underrated synth as it can cut through a mix of any instruments with ease. It can also do its share of bizarre, frequency modulated beeping sounds as well.

While this synth is in excellent condition and still retains ALL of the knobs, slider tips and button caps, 2 screws were removed from the aluminum side panel. Otherwise the synth is in very excellent condition"
