Passive dual diode ring modulator with internal connections that can be break by inserting audio plugs.
When only input 1 and 2 are used, output 1 is the ring modulation output, output 2 is the singal of output 1 being modulated again by input 2 (de-modulation output).
When input 1, 2, 4 are used, output 1 is the ring modulation output, output 2 is the singal of output 1 being modulated by input 4.
When all 4 inputs are used, it can be 2 totally indepented ring modulators.
Very versatile!"

Innerclock Systems iLitmus Test for iOS Timing
Innerclock Systems has come up with a process for measuring the tempo sync for various iOS apps.
"With the unrelenting advance of Apple's iOS development for iPhone and iPad there are now a growing number of well-specified and sonically usable sequencing and drum machine applications for the platform. Core Midi I/O is now functional and there are a number of 3rd Party add-on interfaces that provide external tempo-sync and we will be testing these in due course.
The iLitmus test criterea are the same as we use for hardware devices as outlined on the main Litmus page: iPad2 audio output recorded direct to stand-alone hard disk recorder and these audio files are then marked and measured to the sample in Sound Forge 10."
You can find the results for various apps here.

Silver Tiptop Audio Station 252 Folding Case on PYRAPHONIC
A few pics via PYRAPHONIC a new blog on jimmersound's sonic pursuits. You'll find a few more pics there. All great shots. You can get a feel for the size of the Station 252 in the bottom shot with the Coke bottle next to it.
Update: I initially had this posted as a white case. Although it looks white in some of the pics, it's actually silver.

Mattson Mini Modular SQ16 Sequencer
via Mattson Mini Modular on Facebook
"I've been quiet for a while. I decided to dive into the MMM sequencer. Ran into problems with discreet logic so, tossed all of the gates and went with a PIC. Which adds a lot more tricks. Including: Quantizing, 8 or 16 stage mode, Ping Pong and Random modes, etc, etc, etc.
Plus, the ability to do software upgrades via a USB port. Just grab the new version on your computer and connect the two.
I'll also be designing an expansion module to compliment it that will provide 16 jacks for individual stage gate outputs and a MIDI output so that the programmed sequence can be recorded on a MIDI recorder.
I also swapped a couple of panel controls around and, had to add something to fill the last (56th) hole position. I guess that's more functional than my logo....
And, I renamed it to the SQ816 instead of the SQ1.
Here's a JPG of the new layout design. I grayed out the black to help with readability on the pic and put grid lables. Mostly, so I can keep track of what is where."

Cyndustries LogiPac
via this auction
"Brand New Ready-to-Ship Synthesizer Module New Year Sale Special No Waiting!
Pack a lot of logic into a little space with a Logipac!
The Logipac module consists of a pair of 3-input, triple-function Boolean Gate sections, and a pair of D-type Flip-Flop sections. All inputs feature our anything-to-logic input circuitry which allows slow-moving waveforms (like sine waves) to behave like logic signals. The only requirement is that they cross +1V somewhere in their cycle.
Logic Gates
The Boolean Gate sections feature 3-inputs rather than the usual 2, which greatly increases their versatility and allows for the patching of more complicated logical functions with fewer modules. The 3-inputs are processed by logical AND, OR, and EXCLUSIVE OR (EXOR) functions simultaneously, and each function has it's own output jack and corresponding LED.
(To use the gates as 2-input functions, just use 2 inputs of the OR and EXOR with input 3 left unused. The AND requires the unused input be patched together with one of the used inputs.)
The 3-input EXOR functions as an odd / even parity generator. If an odd number of inputs are high, the output is high, and if an even number of inputs are high, the output is low. You can cascade this operation into the other EXOR gate and pick up 2 more inputs. You can also use the EXOR function as a logic inverter. Patch one input high and patch the signal to be inverted into another input. Check out the truth (table that is).
Flip-Flops
The D-type Flip-Flops are 1-bit memory storage devices with various ways to acquire the bit and turn it on and off. Applications are best understood by understanding what signals are coming and going.
[Q] and [NOTQ] Q-bar (pronounced Not Q or Q Bar)
These are the outputs. Q is the bit, either on or off and NOTQ is its logical inverse (when Q is on, NOTQ is off and vice-versa).
[S] SET
A high level at this input will latch Q high (NOTQ low)
[R] RESET
A high level at this input will latch Q low (NOTQ high)
Bringing both SET and RESET high simultaneously is undefined and will produce unpredictable results. It's like trying to force a see-saw to be both ways at once. When SET and RESET are brought low again, the one to fall last will be remembered.
[C] CLOCK and [D] DATA
The CLOCK and DATA inputs work together. The CLOCK is edge sensitive and when brought high, the state of the DATA input is latched into Q. That is, Q will equal DATA when CLOCKed.
There, that's not so complicated, is it?

Cyndustries MIX SIX MIXER
via this auction
"Brand New Ready-to-Ship Synthesizer Module New Year Sale Special No Waiting!
Mix Six Mixers are back in regular Production!
All eight of these pots are of the pull-out variety, which include a switching mechanism to select special features.
On each of the six inputs there is a level knob that pulls to invert the incoming waveform or control voltage, (Yes, these will mix audio signals and/or control Voltages).
There is a main output with master volume knob (pulling it out enables a "Bright Switch" to add a little clarity to a mix in the high end)...
And there is a second parallel output channel with Bass Enhancement, and pulling it engages a Moog mixer type "Pop Filter" and adjustable Lag (portamento) for processing control voltages.
Unlike some mixers in our format, these knobs behave traditionally and thus are are fully-silent when turned to the familiar fully Counter-Clockwise position
You will quickly find these high-quality beauties essential to any size system!

BLUE ZTVCO DRY DEMO & Surrounding Controversy
YouTube Uploaded by bluelantern320 on Jan 3, 2012
Update 10/4/2013: I heard from Ian Fritz and the controversy is over. Blue Lantern no longer offers the ZTVCO. That said, BL posts will resume.
This one, which seems to be a reoccurring theme with Blue Lantern, comes with a good dose of controversy. You might recall from a few years ago BL got into a bit of heat selling MIDIBox SIDs on eBay. MIDIBox explicitly forbids the commercial resale of MIDIBox SIDs. Blue Lantern stopped and went into producing affordable eurorack based modules and systems.
This latest controversy surrounds the source of design for the new BLUE ZTVCO. You might recall from the comments in this previous post, the design of that prototype module appeared to be a copy of Ian Fritz's Teezer (TZFM Saw VCO debuted Sep'08) design. Ian Fritz's modules are available via The Bride Chamber and Elby Designs.
In short:
1. Is the BLUE ZTVCO based on Ian Fritz's design?
2. If so, to what extent?
3. If so, is it legal?
4. If so, is it fair and does it matter?
The answer to 1 and 2 will not be known until someone gets a hand on the ZTVCO and reverse engineers it. I asked BL if he would be willing to provide the schematics to put the issue to rest and he replied no. He said people can reverse engineer it when it it's available and he is sure someone will. The answer to 3 is quite possibly so. There is currently a good thread on the subject on the electro-music.com forum here. The answer to 4 depends on you. My personal opinion is that it is not fair and it definitely does matter. Whether legal or not, I view it as stealing. These designs do not come out of thin air. They take time and talent and sometimes years to produce. You will see some insight on this in regards to Ian's Teezer design from him directly below. When someone makes their designs available, credit should be given.
The following is a response from Blue Lantern in regards to the claims made against him. The most important thing to read out of his points below is "3. This is not a clone, this vco is a beast in it's own cage."

FON31 - Sendai Japan Relief
via Force of Nature
"On March 11th 2011, an 8.9 level eathquake struck Sendai Japan. The quake triggered a tsunami and massive damage to crictial nuclear facilities and evacuations along Japan's Pacific coast and in at least 20 countries, including the entire Pacific coast of North America and South America. The earthquake created extremely destructive tsunami waves of up to 10 meters (33 ft) that struck Japan minutes after the quake, with smaller waves after several hours in many other countries. In Japan, the waves are reported to have travelled up to 10 km (6 mi) inland and the death toll continues to rise.
The Sendai Japan release series on Force of Nature is the latest addition to the Natural Disaster Series which is focused on raising money to support the victims of this event. "Vintage Korg-55b drumbox with 96 preset rhythms, intro's and fill-in's. It comes with original pedal and nice original bag! Also I've made very accuracy mods: trigger in for master clock, audio output for each drum and trigger output for 16, 8, 4, 1 and BD, all outputs works in the same time, so you can use it for five destinations. All this mods are very useful for integrating KR-55 with old cv/gate equipment or modern modulars."
