"Rare performance synth from 1979 with built in Spring Reverb, Flanger and assignable Aftertouch control and 32 different voices with each voice able to be modified through various effects and touch sensitivities.. Very expressive and rich sounding little beast with plenty of character. Similar to the Arp Pro Soloist and SH-2000. These were manufactured under license from ARP Instruments, USP 3,965,789.

In excellent condition for its age with very little cosmetic damage to the exterior (some minor scratches/scuffs here and there - see pics). A couple of slightly bent preset switches, though not affecting function. And one slightly off kilt high F key (end of keybed - see photos - again not affecting function.) Would be very easy to correct for someone inclined. The synth is clean (no scratchy pots) and in full working order.... and sounds amazing.

Original dust cover included.

Spec: High and low outputs, headphone jack, and an expression pedal input for volume control."

Percussa SSP Schematics & Layout Update #1

via the Percussa Kickstarter campaign:

"SSP layout work in progress (looking at back side of module)

Hi everyone :-)

Bert here, I've been working hard the past week on the schematics and layout of the SSP and progressed well. As you know the design is based on the work I've done for the Percussa Engine the past couple of years. My goal right now is to get an initial placement of all my parts and do a rough first routing of all the traces. When that is done I can then start optimizing and fine tuning the design, double checking documentation and footprints, etc. Here is a selection of the stuff I've had to do the past week, since the previous update:

1) move the display from the top to the bottom layer of the PCB (bottom layer is the user-facing / front panel side, so we're looking at the "back" of the eurorack module in the above image and to see the front you have to flip it horizontally)

2) find footprints for, check footprints for, and place the input / output jacks and the USB host (looks like we have room for TWO host ports!) and Device port (bottom side)

3) place the encoders and switches (bottom side)

4) duplicate the layout / placement for the input / output stages for the DACs and ADCs and duplicate them in the schematics as well and fix all the board/schematic inconsistencies

5) design footprints for the 8 channel DAC and 8 channel ADCs (AK4458/AK5558)

6) add the ADCs and DAC to the schematics

7) move the various power supplies in the design (all the specialized switchers, regulators, etc)

8) create slot to feed display cable through so it can attach on the other side

9) relocate display related circuitry

10) rip up a lot of top/bottom traces while relocating stuff and creating room for other parts to be added

11) designed a footprint for the programmable logic we're going to use (256 ball BGA package) and read documentation and design recommendations for the part and footprint

12) designed schematic symbols for the ADC, DAC and programmable logic and added all those in the schematic

13) added euro power connector, added serial console connector, 2 pin headers for jumpers, and other various small debug features

14) added vertical microSD slot

15) placed mounting spacers for front panel

I'm mostly there with the initial placement, so rest of this week I'll be fixing / adding connections in the schematics, adding power decoupling here and there, updating power circuitry, checking layout of some of the power circuits, and starting to route signals. The yellow wires you can see in the board layout are "airwires", they indicate which connections I have to make by drawing traces. I'll be doing those by hand since I don't use an autorouter, so that will take a while :-)

Besides the schematics/layout I've also been reviewing linux kernel driver code, since we'll be attaching the programmable logic to our ARM SoC and want to keep that whole puzzle as simple as possible. The programmable logic is used to attach the multiple ADCs to the ARM processor.

I hope you enjoy this update! The design is looking good and progressing well. I'll keep you all updated.

Thanks again for backing,

Bert & Celine"

A Tasty Pixel Releases Samplebot - New Sampling App for iOS w/ Jimmy Fallon Clip

Uploaded on Sep 16, 2017 ATastyPixel

A Tasty Pixel who brought us Loopy HD, has a new app in town, Samplebot. Details follow, along with the the Jimmy Fallon clip.

"Record or import sound clips, play them back on colorful pads and record and layer the results to build songs. That’s the idea behind Samplebot, the playful new sampler app for iPhone and iPad from the developer of award-winning apps Loopy and Audiobus.

Samplebot, launching today, uses a grid of large colored pads to represent audio clips which can be recorded live or imported from elsewhere to create remixes of other material. Clips can then be played back with a touch, or recorded and layered with other sounds using the app’s sequencer. Sequence looping allows users to build up songs quickly and easily.

'I’ve always loved finding ways to make music fun and immediate, to encourage creativity without having to wrestle with complex tools,” said A Tasty Pixel director and developer Michael Tyson. “Samplebot’s just good fun to play with. During development I was entertaining our 7-month-old little boy, recording and playing back his squeaky teether toy. I made a little song right there, out of the stuff around us: That’s the kind of experience I strive for.'

Samplebot was featured earlier this month in an Instagram post from The Tonight Show’s Jimmy Fallon, with a playful cover of Shawn Mendes’ 'There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back'.

Samplebot joins A Tasty Pixel’s other widely-acclaimed and award-winning apps Loopy and Audiobus. It can be found on the App Store at the special launch price of $US2.99 and is compatible with iPhone and iPad.

-

Device Requirements: iPhone 5s or newer, iPad Air or newer, or iPod Touch 6th Generation; running iOS 10 or newer.

About A Tasty Pixel: One-man app development studio A Tasty Pixel, otherwise known as Michael Tyson, is on a mission to create beautiful and inspiring music making experiences. Having created the widely-acclaimed live-looping app Loopy, and the revolutionary audio routing platform Audiobus, A Tasty Pixel continues to relentlessly pursue the very best in user experience and creativity. A Tasty Pixel products have been extensively featured by Apple and have won a number of awards."

"Samplebot is a collector of sounds. It's a crafter of songs. It's a finger-drummable looping sequencer of rainbow glory, and it wants to be your friend. Come. Play. Robo-boogie.

- Record or import samples, then play them back on beautiful, sproingy rainbow pads!
- Then record or input arrangements using the sequencer, featuring built-in drum patterns, loop record and playback, quantization and copy/paste

Vintage Maas Rowe Krueger String Bass Pedals Synth 1970s / 80s

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

Here's something you've likely never seen before. I believe this is the first post on the site to feature one. You can find a hand full of other Maas Rowe posts here.

via this auction

"This is a Maas Rowe Model 813 Krueger String Bass Pedal system from the late 1970s / early 1980s. These were originally marketed as an accessory for piano for additional basslines, but as it goes with these sorts of things, guitarists, bassists, and synth enthusiasts adopted them into their setups, too. This is the early version with 13 wooden pedals that connect with a d-sub connector.

Its register is not as subby as, say, Moog Taurus pedals, but more like an octave up, perhaps in the C2-B2 range. Using the Tone control, you can keep it sine-wavy, then gradually add harmonics to create a lush, classic synth Voyager sound.

These pedals are super cool and sound awesome. They're in great cosmetic and functional condition."

Modular Workshop - Live @ Analogue Zone Showroom E04

Streamed live 47 minutes ago Analogue Zone Showroom / Synths and Studio

"Modular Workshop - Live from the Showroom

This week's stream features a world premiere for Buchla lovers: Ramin will demonstrate the unparallelled audio range of the Buchla LEM Snoopy - Buchla's more compact synth voice with its flagship modulation and filtering capacities. You will be put into picture in connection with the convincing Buchla-sound, and he will also talk about what makes its oscillators exceptional both for timbre and tuning when it comes to heavy modulation.

The Make Noise DPO and the Endorphin.es Terminal will be also there to see how two classic Buchla-concepts (the lowpass gate and the complex oscillator) sound in eurorack. The 4ms Company - Dual Looping Delay will process the sounds with its exceptionally fine-tuned feedback.

The Varigate 8+ 2 CV outs will be utilised as well along with the XAOC Devices - Tirana II for extra sequencing duties.

The Hexinverter - Gallilean Moons envelope will be used as one essential ingredient for creating hihat sounds - based on the Malekko - Noise module mostly.

Modular Workshop is a weekly live series from the Analogue Zone Budapest showroom with our experienced modular electronic music performer & friend, Ramin Sayyah. The series was created in order to introduce either one particular module or a very special selection of module-combinations to make various kinds of music with them.

A new episode is streamed live every Wednesday on Analogue Zone's Youtube channel. After a short live performance, Ramin walks us through the building blocks of the patch and answers any questions raised by the viewers.

Tune in every Wednesday afternoon for the show and feel free to ask questions directly during the live stream - also let us know if you want to pay a visit to the showroom during the live show: we can accept a few guests too.

"Wired Heart features six sensors that can detect touch and humidity. Each of the sensors control the pitch of an oscillator – press harder or have sweaty hands to get a higher pitch. Each sensor serves a different function, and it is best to explore the Wired Heart Sound universe by trial and error. However if you want to know what is happening, you can find some explanation below.

INTERMODULATION
If this still sounds boring to you, wait what happens when you touch several pads at once. The oscillators will begin to further cross modulate each other by the current flowing through your hands and a whole new world of awesome sounds opens up.

EXPERIMENT!
There are many more ways the heart can react to you: Try wiping it with a wet cloth, put a banana on it and see what happens, or simply blow on it – the humidity in your breath will make the oscillators sing as if you were just breathing new life into six punch-drunk sirens.

Custom Designed Fuzz Control Breakout Box

Midiminiafy Option Installed
1 TR-303 Filter Installed
1 ARP 2600 Filter Installed
1 CS-80 Filter Installed
Discrete OP Amps Installed

I am the original owner of this custom designed synth. It is in mint condition. I am only selling because I need money to go back to school. What makes this CODE unique is that the guys at studio electronics made a custom breakout box for it and named it the Serpico 8 (Fuzz Control). It is the only one in existence. This box allows you to control the amount of overdrive for each voice individually. You can also turn the overdrive on or off on each voice. With the Midiminiafy option installed, you can choose between Oberheim or Minimoog filters for each voice. There are custom switches on the front panel that allow you to turn on or off Minimoog ADSR envelopes for each voice. With the Minimoog filter and envelope enabled for any or all voices you can sound just like a Minimoog. There are also 1 each of all of the other available filters installed: Roland TR-303, ARP 2600, and Yamaha CS-80. These are installed on the first 3 voices. The discrete op amps on the main output give you better sound. You can use the 8 analog voices for one sound or you can use them in multi-mode. When in multi-mode, this synth can sound like many different synths due to the amount of filters, envelopes, and overdrive controls that are available to you."

Montréaler Mateo Murphy has clocked nearly 20 years harnessing technology, manning the decks, and releasing dozens of dark, repetitive, rhythmically elegant tracks and remixes – from collaborations with Pheek and Noah Pred to deep, driving cuts on labels such as Tiga’s Turbo and Misstress Barbara’s Relentless.

Sequential Circuits Pro One vs Pioneer/DSI Toraiz AS-1 by INHALT

Published on Sep 20, 2017 INHALTVIDEO

http://inhalt.bigcartel.com/

"Ever since working on the factory bank patches for the Pioneer AS-1, we always felt that the sound hit close to home. And that home, for INHALT, is the Sequential Circuits Pro One. Now, in this video we put both units head to head to hear which one can out do the body music bass line. Both synths were recorded straight to Pro Tools HD via a Focusrite 2802 (Audient Mic Pres) and absolutely no fx or post processing was applied. What you are hearing is the dry signal playing back to 2 discrete channels on the desk. When the cut light is lit, that channel is muted. The similarities are so remarkable between the two synths, that often times we weren't sure which one we were hearing before we put the board tape on the desk. The characteristic is so strong between these two bass monsters that we are now developing an INHALT Pro One Sound Bank for the Toraiz AS-1 which will be available for download through our Big Cartel Shop. We hope you enjoy this comparison and find it useful. The AS-1 is a monster!!"

Dao + Dr.Jekyll & Mr.Hyde + Flashback

Published on Sep 19, 2017 Kinetik Laboratories

"Dr.J&Mr.H is getting the Dao treatment (and delayed by TC Electronic Flashback).

Dr.Jekyll & Mr.Hyde is a sound generator formed by two distinct mixable circuit voices, the Jekyll's one is warm, firm and comforting, the other is harsh, noisy and sometimes unpredictable: the Hyde side.
Each voice has three oscillators with respecting FREQUENCY control.

Dao is a pattern controlled gater capable of turning every signal connected to the INPUT JACK into a rhythmic sequence, passing or muting it towards the OUTPUT JACK. The rhythm patterns are based on the position of two knobs, PATTERN LENGTH and CHOP NUMBER, allowing an intuitive use of the device. Users can generate up to 136 patterns by setting these knobs.
