Casiotone CT-6000 multitracked with Alesis Midiverb

video by acreil

Reminds me of Dead Can Dance.

"Written and recorded in one day, but it's not really my best composition. 9 tracks total. Recorded in Reaper with some mild EQ but no other processing.

The CT-6000 isn't analog or phase distortion as is sometimes reported; it's an enhanced version of the "consonant-vowel" synthesis from earlier Casio models, adding pitch bend, velocity and aftertouch, plus 3 oscillators per voice (up to 6 or 12 with the unison modes) and a stereo 3 BBD string ensemble chorus (similar to the one later used in the CZ-3000, CZ-5000 and CZ-1). The tone generator IC is the µPD932, which wasn't used in any other model. The drums are also digital, based around the the HD61701 IC (also unique to the CT-6000). I plan to modify mine to unleash the digital filth lurking inside and make high quality samples of the drum sounds.

For reference, the CT-7000 and CT-8000 are similar to the Casio MT-65/MT-68/CT-405, based around the µPD930 and µPD931 ICs (consonant-vowel, 1 oscillator generator per voice). The CT-5500 and CT-6500 are phase distortion, basically preset versions of a CZ-3000 with auto-accompaniment and drums."

Novation Circuit Tracks Groovebox Demo by Perfect Circuit

video by Perfect Circuit

"The @NovationTV Circuit Tracks is here! This groovebox is nice and compact with a built in battery, lots of connectivity and a software editor if you want to go deeper. The Tracks has two synth tracks, two midi sequencing tracks and four sample based drum tracks. It also has two inputs so you can plug in the synths you are sequencing with the midi tracks and some built in effects (including the sidechain effect that really glues everything together and makes your drums sound really loud!)

The sequencer is a strong point of the Circuit Tracks, it has a lot of the power of using a Launchpad with Live's clip launcher, but in a standalone groovebox.

Novation Circuit Tracks & Associates - Buchla 208C Easel Command, Monome Norns, 1010Music Bluebox -

video by -CALC-

See this post for additional details and demos of Novation's new Circuit Tracks.

"Perhaps not quite what most folks are expecting from an early Circuit Tracks video but this is a versatile bit of kit and it was a fun late night birthday jam. Circuit Tracks is firmly at the centre.

Tracks is controlling the Norns OOOOOO script with MIDI mappings, all the loops in OOOOOO were recorded directly from the Circuit Track's Synth. The Circuit Tracks synth is actually kick ass when you delve deep into it and make it work for you. There is a ton of power in it.

Circuit Tracks also sequencing the Summit (bass line) and Rossum Electro Assimil8or - through CV.OCD (additional drums).
This is the first proper recording with the Buchla 208C Easel Command and at the moment its just burbling nicely in the background. I've been waiting for a long time to get this and it will definitely feature a lot more prominently in the future.
I'm still learning this total classic beast and I think I will be for the rest of my life but it also pairs really really well with the Circuit Tracks' sequencer.

Special shout out to the 1010 Music Bluebox too. It is such a handy device and way more useful than I imagined. Especially paired with the Norns.... thats a power combo.

Some tasty video stuff thanks to the Sleepy Circuits Hypno. I ran the video back through the Hypno for some lovely Psychedelics. It's clunky with external video but its good."

G-Storm Electro Introduces the JP4 Chorus - Dual BBD Ensemble for Eurorack

video by gstormelectro

"Audio + Video by G-Storm Electro c. 2021

Introducing my JP4 Chorus: a eurorack adaptation of the Roland Jupiter-4 Ensemble effect.
Using dual bucket brigade delay lines.
Headphones recommended :D
Check my Reverb store for module availability

In this video I will be auditioning basic waveforms from my 101-VCO thru the JP4 Chorus.
Then adding some reverb from FX aid.
Roland Juno-1 basic sawtooth patch thru the JP4 Chorus with the help of a homemade preamp.
Note: while the JP4 Chorus is designed primarily for eurorack signals, you will want an instrument/line preamp module for use w/ external gear like guitars and synthesizers.

6:13 Juno-1 to JP4 Chorus to FX Aid Reverb"

via G-Storm Electro's Reverb shop:

Oh glorious analog BBD goodness! JP4 Chorus is a mono-input, stereo-output chorus ensemble made for eurorack. Employing two LFO-modulated bucket brigade delay lines. The original MN3004 chips are extinct – and no re-issues in sight. But fret not young grasshoppa, the JP4 Chorus uses NOS Panasonic TDA1022 chips. Bestow your rack with the nirvana it requires.

RATE: SLOW is the lazy swirl of the original Jupiter-4; MED you can feel the momentum gaining traction; FAST is like a lively string ensemble when you feed it a raw sawtooth.

ON/OFF Switch: not true bypass, but the delay lines are removed from the audio path well enough.

Please note – JP4 Chorus is designed for eurorack signals. Guitar/Mic/Line level external synths and instruments will need a pre-amp or instrument input module.

Be sure to check out my other cool modules available in my Reverb store.

Includes 16-pin-to-10-pin power connector cable.

Specifications:

Inputs: 1 mono input jack w/ signal attenuation
Power: 10-pin Eurorack standard shrouded header
Outputs: 2 jacks Stereo Output Pair
Current: 20mA +12V, 80mA -12V, +5V (not used)
Width: 4HP
Depth: 45mm
JP4 Chorus pairs well with:

101-VCO
Happy Nerding FX Aid reverbs and delays
Bastl Hendrikson, for outboard instruments

The DROID: The CV module replacing all other CV modules (ADSRs, Turing Machines, Quantizers, LFOs..)

video by Bertolt Meyer

Review of the DROID multipurpose CV processing module for the Eurorack format by Der Mann mit der Maschine, including an explanation of its internal patching language and its concept of "circuits".

Chapters:

00:00 Intro: One CV module to replace them all
00:53 DROID Module and P2B8 Expander overview
02:52 Example 1: 3 Envelopes with one pot-controlled parameter each
05:23 Example 2: Quantized turing machine

10:24 How to pronounce 'Der Mann mit der Maschine' correctly
10:50 The gates expander
11:15 How to write a Patch for the DROID: Coding example

via Der Mann Mit Der Maschine

The DROID is a very flexible generic CV processor for modular synthesizers in the Eurorack (Doepfer) format. It has 8 CV inputs and 8 CV outputs, all ranging from -10V to +10V. The DROID can do almost any CV task you can imagine, such as sequencing, melody generation, slew limiting, quantizing, switching, mixing, working on clocks and triggers, creating envelopes and LFO or other fancy voltages, or any combination of these at the same time. While doing this, is very precise both in voltage and in timing.

You tell your DROID what to do by means of a simple text file called “DROID patch”, while is located on a micro SD card. No special software is required for creating that file. A simple text editor running on Windows, Linux, Mac or any other device is all you need.

Controllers and expanders

By attaching up to 16 P2B8 controllers, each having two potentiometers and 8 push buttons, you can control any parameter you like while playing your music.

The G8 expander gives you 8 more jacks, which can be used for gate or trigger inputs and outputs.

The Circuits

The building blocks of a DROID patch are called circuits. Every type of circuit performs some specific task. A circuit is very much like a Eurorack module itself. Some of these do basic things like slew limiting, sample & hold or switching. Others are much more comlex, such as an advanced trigger sequencer with algorithmic extensions. Just like a Eurorack module, each ciruit has inputs and outputs. You can wire these either directly to one of the 16 jacks, or even connect them internally. Every parameter can be CV controlled.

Here are a few examples of what your DROID can be for you. As long as you do not run out of inputs and outputs you can implement as many of these functions at the same time in one DROID. You also can connect them together internally.

LFO
Envelope generator
Melody and trigger sequencer
Random generator, bernoulli gate
Sample and hold
Precision adder
Slew limiter
Clock tool with divider, multiplier and delay
Logical and mathematical functions
CV looper
Euclidean rhythms generator
Versatile musical quantizer, octave switch
Addressable and clockable CV switch
CV mixing and routing matrix
VCO precision calibrator
... and many many more...
You can use these circuits either directly - just like normal Eurorack modules - or combine them internally in order to implement more complex functions. Then you can assign pots and buttons of your "P2B8"-controllers for switching, tuning and live performing with these. Basically you can transform your Eurorack modular system into your own custom instrument. Or you simply use the DROID as a replacement for several utility modules, because it is very space efficient.

Buchla Red Panel 158 and 156M: Demo and Tutorial

video by CatSynth TV

"We take a detailed look at two of the modules in the Buchla Red Panel Series: the 158 dual channel oscillator and 156M dual channel CV processor. The 158 oscillator is close to the original design from the 100 series by Don Buchla and uses discrete analog components. The Red Panel series also reproduces the original 156 control-voltage processor, but we opt for the "modern" 156M. While it also uses discrete analog components, it is optimized to play well with other Eurorack modules.

And the press release:

"Introducing Novation Circuit Tracks

New groovebox encourages music makers to ‘create instinctively; perform immediately’

The latest in Novation’s Circuit family of grooveboxes has arrived! Circuit Tracks is an extraordinary standalone groovebox for the modern producer. With two refined polyphonic digital synth tracks, four drum tracks, creative FX and on-the-go capabilities, it’s the perfect hands-on device for the agile music maker.

It’s engineered for immediacy and pure creative expression, making it a performer’s dream. Velocity-sensitive pads and tactile control with customisable patches bring music makers closer to their tracks. Features such as microtiming, probability and pattern mutate allow creators to define their signature sound, and keep inspired.

Common to all Circuit products is a screen-less workflow, and Circuit Tracks is no different. Fast, intuitive and straightforward, it allows for instinctive creativity, without hesitation. There are no complex menus to navigate and scroll through, just creativity accelerated.

Circuit Tracks is perfect for creators and performers on the go. Its rugged build quality, compact form factor and rechargeable battery make it the perfect travel partner: never too far away when inspiration hits.

Despite its size and portability, Circuit Tracks sounds colossal. Two polyphonic synth engines enable creative experimentation and sonic exploration. Hundreds of artist-made presets provide the perfect jumping-off point into moulding a unique sound. What’s more, samples can be loaded from a microSD card, then shaped to perfection and sequenced across the four drums tracks.

Above all, Circuit Tracks is a studio powerhouse. Equally at home alone or among other music machines, its full-size MIDI in, out, and thru, plus analogue sync out, complements other gear. Two MIDI sequencer tracks enable control and programming of external equipment, from drum machines to effects units. Audio inputs allow external sounds to be brought into and manipulated by Circuit Tracks. Outputs provide monitoring options for all occasions.

As with all other Novation equipment, Circuit Tracks is supercharged by Novation’s online companion, Components. Using the browser-based or standalone app, users can delve into the synth engine on screen, create patches with custom macros, load samples, make MIDI templates, backup projects, and get new artist-made sounds.

Circuit Tracks will be in-stores from 12th February 21, costing £359.99"
