ALLINAIRE Live @ VITALISE. [Monome Teletype, ER-301,Dreadbox, Zoia]

video by Allinaire

"Full uncut set using Eurorack: Monome Teletype doing the heavy lifting via i2c connections to Mannequins Just Friends, w/, Txo & Txi and the mighty Orthogonal Devices ER-301. The Dreadbox NYX2 is doing sequenced synth lines and various sound effects. Live control and manipulation of everything via the 16n Faderbank. More granular and delays via Empress Zoia.
This piece was conceived as an expanded live version of my track 'Torp' from the EP 'Heiro' on Bandcamp and New Sound Waves Records.

Circuit Bent Casio SK-1 with Patchbay and Sequencer

"Incredibly Rare Circuit Bent Instrument - Casio SK1!!!

This one is an augmented machine, different than many circuit bent instruments. Whether you want to use it to make experimental music, sound design, electronic music etc, this instrument provides you with a huge palette of sounds due to the many hard patched glitches, pitch control and particularly thanks to the coloured patch bay in the breakout control box. Here you can also patch ROM points to 4 LFOs (!!!!) in order to create patterns and rhytmic phrases. There is also a programmable sequencer, based on logic chips, which runs in two directions and has some degree of variations in it.

It features:
- Pitch control (with LFO to have vibrato) - Body Contacts - Many Glitches on the main keyboard (these glitches short pins on the ROM board of the keyboard, distorting and originating new sounds/patches) - Patchbay with ROM points, Ground, 4 modulating LFOs
Step Sequencer
- 8 adjustable steps - 1 knob for sequence tempo and a switch to increase speed - Switch to run backwards - 6 switches to create different sequence patterns - input for external clock for the sequencer (not tested)
PSU is not included in this listing."

Dreadbox Typhon - Clouds Reverb & Other Cool Features!

video by Lost Clouds

"Just like with the Peak, getting the Keystep has made it a lot more easy and enjoyable to play around with the Typhon - here's a quick patch I came up with the other day that uses a couple of built-in effects, the S-Curve saturation and Clouds reverb algorithm, to create a super nice lead patch. Hope you enjoy!"

The Safety Valve :- https://www.lookmumnocomputer.com/pro...
modular perfection :- http://www.modularperfection.com/"

"There are a number of variants of the safety valve but this matches the 1.0 version Which i think sounds the best, Having tried various versions including the 2.0 and also the GMSN version which has an input buffer and a slightly different circuit, they just didn’t tick the main box which was, TONEEEE MOTHERFUDGING TONEEE. So i thought screw it, and took it back to the Safety Valve 4710.

It does not have any CV control this is for the above reason and also namely, with valve distortion the sound adjustments are more to do with the level of things going into it, so i didn’t see it as being particularly important to complicate the circuit further just to add CV control over things that don’t do as good of a job as adjusting things earlier in the signal chain. The best approach is to treat it like a pedal, it has a switch to turn it on, it accentuates aspects of the sound in a warm waffly kind of manner, and can boost the signal a heck of alot!

Also the Tone control is just a simple RC filter (a resistor and a capacitor) so that didn’t make sense to make CV controllable either as having a filter after the safety valve would do the same thing controllably but better.

There are a couple of differences between this design and the 4710 in the inital video, that being, there is an LED behind the valve this acts as a signal monitor, it listens to whatever goes on in the safety valve and lights up accordingly, Even when bypassed. There is also an engage LED next to the switch.

When there is nothing plugged into the input it goes into feedback mode this is purposeful, it means you can use the module as a drone. You can remove this mode with a simple cutting of a trace on the jack socket PCB board if its annoying but I dont see why you would feel the need. :D

One more thing to note! This kind of distortion like a lot of distortions dont do much to simple sound sources like a single square wave for instance. if you put a single unmixed square wave in, thats what you get out."

TUESDAY NIGHT MACHINES Tangible Waves AE Modular Drones

Playlist:

1. DRONE38 + DRONX + VACTROL PHASER // AE Modular Synth Jam #TTNM
Taking my new USB powered tangible waves AE Modular synth drone rack out for a spin. The DRONE38, DRONX and PHASER modules can create some fat, moving soundscapes, which I look forward to explore more. The DRONE38 offers six blocks of three oscillators, so 18 sound sources in total! You can switch between wave shapes and take blocks in and out of the performance. The DRONX module then mixes up to six audio signals and adds external send/return effects, as well as built-in bass/treble, overdrive and delay audio effects, turning everything into one thick and gooey sound collage :D
2. 18 Oscillator Drone Music System // AE Modular Synth #TTNM
My little AE Modular Synthesizer Drone Music Rack in action again: DRONE38, DRONX and VACTROL PHASER! This time with more pronounced phaser audio effects, starting at 3:00, when I add some slow audio rate modulation from a drone oscillator. In the top right you can also see the METER oscilloscope module, which is cool :)
3. MASSIVE STEREO WALL OF SOUND // All new AE Modular Synth Modules! #TTNM
Ready for more? Get out your headphones and press play! In this massive stereo AE Modular synth drone music piece I combine the new tangible waves AE Modular modules DRONE38, DRONEX, MIXCONSOLE, TRIP and more! The MIXCONSOLE acts as a seven input, stereo, VC-mixer with dual FX sends (MULTIFX and DRONX modules). ALGODRONE is sending audio through the Korg MS 20 filter and SVFILTER, which are audio-rate modulated and panned to the sides. The Dove Audio WAVETABLES module is sent through the WAVEFOLDER for deep, gnarly bass and the Wonkystuff RBSS "Turing Machine" module adds some randomness to plucky LOPAG sounds. Of course the QUANTIZER is used for pitch seequencing. Lastly, the TRIP trigger processor adds delayed, chance-based triggers for less static rhythms.

"Casio CZ-1 Phase Distortion Synthesizer - Part 7 - LCD/OLED Display Replacement
In this video I finally get round to replacing the display, which is one of the few week spots of the synth.

This is where I got the OLED display from:

https://www.tme.eu/gb/katalog/?s_fiel...

The long URL is to filter the displays down to compatible types. There's a range of colours, not just blue. Delivered, the cost came to around £18.50 at the end of 2020."

DSI Poly Evolver Ambient Star Fall

video by Mason Chrysler

"This is a single-patch ambient piece using the DSI Poly Evolver with its droning VCA, wondrous sequencer capabilities, and expansive delays working together to help provide an ambient star fall show. About midway through, a touch of Valhalla Shimmer on a send is slowly brought in to provide some more depth. Endless creation with the PEK. The video artwork is done by me as well with help from a photo of the moon that I took and Photoshop for the animation."

CODE Filtered Theriots

video by StudioElectronics

"Loaded CODEOmega Filter Run Down & Out:

Timed LFO's provide sentient echo; Mini, SEM, Juno/Jupiter, CS-80 the coloration. Starts out raw and uncut, switching peacefully enough through the filer cards; then come cuts, treatment and Carlo St. Regis the Co-Producer (and dialog provider). 2021 2nd gen. SE input—much needed and appreciated at this point. #teamstregis

"This is a really nice example of the top of the line 4 operator Yamaha synth module.

Generally less well known than its predecessors the FB01 and the TX81Z it is better featured also possessing stereo effects, 8 note polyphony, 8 part multi timbral and an 8 track sequencer a card slot for ROM or memory and a fast edit feature.

There are 99 preset voices, 99 user voices already programmed and I am including an RCD102 Contemporay ROM which integrates seamlessly giving instant access to nearly 300 voices in all."

Sonicware Liven XFM Prototype - Demo 7 - Realtime Polymeters

video by ChrisLody

"So this is the penultimate Liven XFM only demo before it launches. This demo is designed to show of the polymetric capabilities of the Liven XFM. Each of the 4 onboard tracks can have it's own number of steps and associated note value that will start in sync on step 1 and then run at there own speed and rhythm depending on those settings. Changing patterns will sync up with the longest number of steps as far as I can tell. My step lengths here are 64, 18, 16 and 18. The track the kick on is 64 steps long so the pattern change is synchronized to it looping. Just like the other XFM only demos I've made so far, this is all the XFM in real-time with a little compressor and limiter just to get the volume level right for YouTube.

Unlike on the Liven 8bit Warps where the audio looper has to be used to build up polymeters, this happens all in realtime on the XFM so some very complex patterns can be built up and tweaked as the sequencer plays. Great fun :)"

Best Ambient Synth Shootout #110: Casio HT-3000 - Song 1

video by Christian's Sonic Spaces

"This is the first song with the HT-3000. It's a 8-voice synthesizer based on 'Spectrum Dynamic' SD Synthesis and has a single real analog 4-pole voltage-controlled filter. My HT-3000 has the legoluft filter mod (http://legoluft.de/tech/bending/e-cas...), so that the frequency and resonance can be control in real-time via two separate knobs (on the left side above the pitch bend wheel).

I used for the recording the following FX chain: HT-3000 - Digitech Obscura - Pigtronix Echolution 2 Deluxe - GFI System Specular Reverb 2. Depending on the recorded track some FX are deactivated

The signal went through a Presonus StudioLive 16.0.2 into the PC via USB for recording. To create the complete song I recorded consecutively several stereo tracks. The final song was then mastered with a bit EQ and compression on some tracks and some limiting on the master track."
