Sequential Artist Spotlight: Jamie Morden / GEOSynths

video by Sequential

"GEOSynths Sound Design has been established since 2017 and is owned and managed by Jamie Morden. With over 30 years’ experience within audio production, live performance and sound design, he has a wealth of knowledge and experience, together with a professional attitude to complete a project on time and on budget. Sound Design has been the focal point for Jamie, especially in recent years due to the revival of analog synthesizers and the advancements within digital synthesis.

Jamie has currently produced synth patch libraries for several hardware poly synths for both analog and digital Synthesizers, however he is keen to further this by creating synth libraries for software synthesizers as well. Jamie also has recently been providing Real-Time Sound Design Tutorials, showing how to make a variety of sounds from scratch, which can be found on his Patreon site.

This video spotlight features GEOSynths patches for the Prophet-6, OB-6, Prophet 12, Prophet X, and Prophet Rev2.

"The amazing Instruo Cs-L complex oscillator through a 4MS Dual Looping Delay. Two Verbos Random Sources modulating the Wavefolder and Symmetry Bias CV inputs of both VCOs. With the mod wheel on my controller keyboard (that has CV outs) I move the pitch of one of the VCOs 1 octave up every now and then which gives this lovely sliding effect."

ARP's Dennis Colin - Ladder Filter & Hyperphase Pedal (Bright Sparks Outtake)

video by GForce Software

"An outtake from the Bright Sparks Documentary where ex-ARP engineer (and the creator of the SEM filter) Dennis Colin talks about how the Ladder Filter was the inspiration for his lauded and obscenely rare Hyperphase pedal.

Sadly, Dennis passed away just after we filmed him at his home in New Hampshire, but his legacy lives on in the ARP 2500, ARP 2600, Aries 300 and the legendary Oberheim SEM filter.

Originally released in December 2015 to critical acclaim and created to compliment the I Monster album of the same name, Bright Sparks documents the human stories of eight musical instrument pioneers, - Robert Moog (Moog), Alan R Pearlman (ARP), Don Buchla, Harry Chamberlin, The Bradley Brothers (Mellotronics), Adrian Wagner (Electronic Dream Plant), Peter Zinovieff (EMS) and Ken Freeman.

'An engrossing and fascinating documentary that pays tribute to the modest but amazing innovators who changed the face of electronic music' Vince Clarke"

Roland JV-1080 "Analog Dreams" Soundset 75 Presets

video by LFOstore

"BUY: https://lfo.sellfy.store/p/roland-jv-...

The legendary Roland JV-1080 synthesizer is back with its best classic analog sounds - "Analog Dreams" soundset!

After succesful "Planet JV" soundset we put our effort on modeling
iconic analog sounds for vintage spirit in modern music production.

Back to 1994 JV was one of the most powerful digital modules with its flexible engine & beautiful sound combined with great set of effects & drums.

Why its so cool?

Cause besides pianos, bells, cowbells & cheesy accordions, GM applause and Bang! presets - its capable to create great analog sounds, deepest ambient textures, great moving sequences.

Its like a hardware 'Omnisphere' synth with huge effort.

So – what was our first desire when we get our black box?
To create our own soundset for the legend with modern approach ofcourse!

So here it is: "Analog Dreams" Soundset with 75 hand krafted presets by LFO.store chief, Nick Klimenko

Inside of the pack is all you need for your retro-inspired track:

*Vintage analog-like basses & Vintage leads (yes, Klaus Schulze spirit also there)

*Great emulations of classic legends: Moog, Jupiter, JX-series, CS, Juno,Arp Odyssey, Yamaha DX-7 and others

*Deepest ambient pads, space drones & tonal soundscapes

*Modern sequences you never heard or seen before on JV

*Beautiful bells, plucks & rhytmic structures

Good news everyone!

Working with all Roland line: jV-1010, JV-1080, JV-2080, XP-30, XP-50, XP-60, XP-80, XV-88, XV-2020, XV-3080, XV-5050, XV-5080.

Enjoy the sounds and rediscover your JV module with our soundset!"

Custom Presets for Dreadbox Typhon: Melodic Profusion (64 Presets & Seqs). Demo/No Talking

video by Anton Anru

"Melodic Profusion is a collection of 64 Presets and Sequences for Dreadbox Typhon. It includes: 22 Leads, 19 Plucks, 12 Chords, 3 Pads, 5 Drones, 3 Percs.

The soundset covers a wide range of genres and styles: Techno, House, Funk, Electro, Breaks, D'n'b, Pop, Lounge, Downtempo, Trance, Psy, Vintage/Retro Electronica, and many others.

🎷 Dreadbox Typhon - Melodic Profusion (64 Presets + Sequences)
🎸 Dreadbox Typhon - Rhythm In Bass (64 Presets + Sequences)
Get the Soundsets: https://antonanru.sellfy.store/dreadbox/

Each preset has a sequence. You may use it as it is, change it, or send notes from DAW or any other external sequencer.

But I strongly recommend using the internal sequencer, as I thoroughly set modulations that are synced to the playback. These modulations make the presets and the sequences sound really expressive, dynamic, evolving without touching any parameters.

However, if you tweak Modwheel, Pitchbend (that are set in every preset), and front panel parameters, you will raise a timbre's expression to the new level.

Modded Eventide H3000S

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

Pics of the inside below.

"Non humming Eventide H3000S upgraded to all D/SE presets/banks. OS v2.17.
If you`re looking onto this device you know magic of this thing.

However, this device is unusual. Unit is professionally modded.
If you`ve used this device previously you know that crazy annoying hum which produces H3000.
So, this particular device is totally silent, no hum at all. And yes, this puzzled many times many H3000 users, with this also legendary problem of harmonizer.
Hum disappearing is result of modding, with two separate transformers instead of stock single mains transformer, which was unlucky just from start of H3000, causing vibration of top/bottom steel covers.
Other positive aspect of modding except relieving from hum is affecting onto sound performance, so, due to separation (by separate transformers) of digital and analog powering chains sound signature got more else luxury tails, transparency and airing.
In fact, separation of digital and analogue power chains is typical technical solution in many high grade top audio devices, top AD/DA, etc.
At last, input stage upgraded with sweet hi-quality Fairchild NE5532 opamps instead stock TL072 opamp (will be supplied also).

Overall, device in perfect optical shape, LCD, encoder and all buttons working perfectly."

Waldorf Microwave I, Rev A, OS V2

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

Pics of the inside below.

"Waldorf Microwave I, revision A, OS v2, green LCD/blue panel, with CEM3389 filters.
Includes Mitsubishi 512KB RAM card.

This is one of first pre serial devices, laboratory piece, with no serial number even.
Device arrived with gray outboard mains transformer, not black bigger transformer which were used in serial devices later.
How you know, first revision of WM 1 was equipped with single mains transformer, out of device. In turn, revision B got two separate transformer inside device.
So, this particular device also was modded professionally with two transformers, to separate powering of analog and digital chains what positively affecting onto sound signature, more crisp on highs/mids, low enriching/articulation, better stereo and transients.
In fact, this is typical technical solution for high grade and pro audio devices, top AD/DA etc.
Other nice modding is refreshing old shaky encoder with new Bourns part, which also added very useful function - encoder pushing function which doubles Value/OK button and increase speed of operation and dialing.

Since WM 1 was produced with non-detachable mains cord, so, cord was equipped with standard IEC mains outlet to connect with usual mains cable.

Overall, device in good condition, LCD, buttons working perfectly. Goes with fat ! preliminary paper manual, Performance manual.

Mains - 230VAC."

Never seen the SC-50 Sound Brush before.

"Roland Sound Brush and Sound Canvas Setup. Both in good working order!

Perfect for a classic PC gaming setup or channeling some excellent early 90s sounds in your music.

Includes:

- Roland SC-50 Sound Canvas MIDI Synth Module

- Roland SB-55 Sound Brush MIDI Sequencer/Player

- Remote for the SB-55

- Box for the SB-55 (I swear I have the manual and will include if I can figure out where I put it)

- I printed off a copy of the SC-50 manual so I’ll send that too

- Original power supplies for both. 1 of them is a bit wonky, so consider it 1 working/1 for repair. (It’s the supply itself that’s inconsistent, not the units. I used a single power supply with a splitter and the units themselves both work fine)"

Instruo Harmonaig with Strega | 3 Plaits & Arbhar

Instruo Harmonaig | Part 01 | Solo with Strega
video by Cinematic Laboratory

"The Instruo Harmonaig (harmony) is designed to drive four voices into all kinds of chords and progressions. In this video I am using the Harmonaig to control Strega's pitch and delay speed into some amazing new sounds.
So when you spend some time with the Witch, don't forget to mult the pitch CV to the delay time. It's fun! I'll use the other two outputs to modulate Strega's various destinations. Harmonaig gets her pitch CV from two Maths channels (LFO) and Wogglebug random pitch. I am using a middle eastern scale to make the patch it a bit more exotic."

Instruo Harmonaig | Part 02 | Polyphony with 3 Plaits & Arbhar

video by Cinematic Laboratory

"After building a mono patch with the Harmonaig and Strega, it's now time to have some fun with three Plaits and the 1v/oct input of Arbhar. Music theory is very valuable when you need to compose something, but with Harmonaig, you can easily get away with not knowing any of it. I used Pressure Points to dial in a progression of four chords and used Marbles to add some variations."

How to turn a Nagra into a Mellotron-like tape sampler

video by HAINBACH

"In this video I show a very simple technique I discovered that turns a Nagra reel-to-reel recorder into a very versatile tape sampler / looper / echo with variable speed. Modding regular tape machines for vari-speed is something that can be done by skilled technicians, but professional machines for instrumentation or film sound recording often have external speed control. This can on some be 'misused' to control them via a control voltage sequencer. On the Nagra 4-L it is as simple as plugging a cable into the "speed" jack. As far as I know, this is rather unknown technique."
