Live Quadraphonic Mixing in Bitwig Studio

video upload by nbor

"Download the Grid device here! https://bitwiggers.com/presets/684872...

Recently, I've been lucky to perform live sets in Quadraphonic audio. I developed some tools in Bitwig Studio to create animated soundscapes for four speakers. Using modulators and the FX Grid, I can create a huge variety of spatial audio patterns. However, Bitwig isn't really designed for this, so there's a few things you need to do to work around its stereo "bias." Despite the few hacks, it works really well, and sounds amazing. This video gives an overview of how to make everything work."

Juneteenth charity release - Post-P/C / HSynf::DRNY#2 by LSZ & NYZ

noyzelab:

"LSZ and NYZ are returning with a split of new drone material for the occasion of Juneteenth, where Bandcamp donate 100% of their share to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. All income generated on our side with this split will also, now and forever, be donated to the same organization. It is the sincere hope of the two sound recordists that this music exists as a balm of comfort for escaping from a world that is far too miserable for far too many people.

EKO Ekosynth P15 - Ultra Rare Italian Synth Gem!

video upload by Carambolage

"This is the demo of an ultra-rare and very simple, but fantastic-sounding and inspiring little Italian monophonic synth from the late 1970s – EKO Ekosynth P15!

All sounds in this demo created with Eko P15 only (except the drums, which is Roland CR-78)."

Venta ELE-10 synth plays Photographic (Depeche Mode Cover)

video upload by Carambolage

This is the first post to feature the VENTA ELE-10.

"Cover song of Photographic played on the ultra-rare plastic Lithuanian 90s toy synth VENTA ELE-10 (also known as Norma ELE-10 or Elektronika EM-18).

- -
Instruments used:
Korg KR-55B (drums) + Behringer System 100m (bass) + Venta ELE-10 (everything else). - -

Still images used in the video were taken outside the actual VENTA factory building (now repurposed) in Vilnius. I bought the synth several years ago on the other side of the street of the factory from a guy who worked in the factory through the 80s & 90s. He still lived in the same flat next to the factory at the time when I bought it. The synth was almost like new, very well preserved, in original packaging. However the output sound was a noisy and the keys were not responding properly. After some maintenance I got it working and after several years of owning it I decided to make a demo of it by covering Depeche Mode's Photographic – one of their songs I like the most. Enjoy!"

"Vintage drum computer fully programmable
- recorded thru stereo out with preset pan and pad volume
- no effects added
- 8-10bit (?) sound, full pitch with beautiful digital artefacts when playing lower notes
- one analog Sound (Synth Tom)"

via this auction

"German drum machine from the 80s.

very comprehensive and great sounding, in the like of classics like the Oberheim DMX, Sequential Circuis DrumTraks or LinnDrum.

There are 26 sound including one analog synth drum.

You get 8 seperate outputs, midi, tape, sync and a connector to plug drum pads to trigger the sounds.

But most of all there is the fader that enables global control of the pitch.

It’s a nightmare to program but you can simply plug a midi keyboard, pad or computer and you can play the 26 instruments, with velocity.

Unit was serviced and is fully operational."

Top 3 Favorite Modulation Sources Picked by Our Pals Omri Cohen, Stazma, and The Unperson.

video upload by Perfect Circuit

"Modulation is one of the most important aspects of a modular synthesizer: it's what makes your sounds move and change over time. It's the way that you take control of your sounds. It's the way you bring sounds to life.

So picking the right modulation sources for your music is critical—but there are a LOAD of options out there. We reached out to a few of our friends to hear what THEIR favorite modulation sources are, and how they use them in their music...and this video is what they had to say.

You can change the sound prodiuce with the folowing knob:
knob 1 : exiter filtering
Knob 2 : attaque of exiter

Knob 4 : feedback of resonator
Knob 5 : Attaque of the filtering envelop

What is Modulation? (Modular Synth 101 | Part 9)

video upload by Musical Miscellany (Poorness Studios)

"For the next episode in this introduction to modular synth, I take a closer look at modulation. Everyone always talks about it, but what is it? Modulation is simply using a signal to control another signal. It's a simple concept but it puts the fun in modular synthesis."

Melodicer vs. Black Sequencer - one or both?

video upload by John Schussler

"I haven't spent much time with the Erica Synths Black Sequencer, and I noticed in a thread the other day somebody mentioning it serving as a substitute for the Vermona Melodicer.

Say what? I have a Melodicer, and it's the cat's meow. Can it really be supplanted by the Erica Synths offering?

They're big modules, so it's worth asking the question. Which is what you have here...me asking the question of whether I keep both or just one.

Source VCO is an Acid Rain Chainsaw. No envelope, just the output gates from the sequencer’s going to a Bard tube LPG.

Intersting pic of the top open.

"Vintage Solina String-Ensemble Mk2 synthesizer, the mono version and for many the best version of the series. The synth is working fine and sounds wonderful! The service manual and even the spare fuses are sitting untouched under the lid.

Cosmetically it’s in very good condition too. There are some small scratches and little wear and tear, the wooden case has some signs of use, but overall it’s a nice example. Please check the photos for a good impression of the condition.

It’s a 220v version and the serial number is: 0135363."

Wersivoice FM76 & Wersi WV30 Wersivoice Rotor/String Effect Cards

Wersivoice FM76 video upload by hi there its me

"Vintage Chorus/Vibrato from the late 70s
- demonstrated with Ableton's Operator (Sine/Squarewave)
- no effects added
- beautiful to warm up your digital synths
- also works great with guitars, vocals..."

Note the video above is not for the listing below and it actually uses a different card. See the update from Ohm Studio below. There were different versions of the PCBs used by Wersi. Read on for details.

via this auction

"These WV30 rotor/string cards are used and tested from a Wersi Arcus and are suitable for all CD range organs. Not suitable for any DX range organs."

Update: I asked Ohm Studio if this was the same model card used in his custom design. He replied: "It’s not the same pcb I use or used in the Wersivoice FM76 above (the only standalone manufactured model they made). It’s from a more recent design and uses different bucket brigade devices, Panasonic MN3004 instead of the Philips TDA1022 used in the Wersivoice, Bohm and most of the Italian string synths and organs from the late 70s on (the Farfisa effect I built was also designed around those).

Earlier ensemble fx used TCA350 BBDs like the Eminent Solina, Logan string melody, Crumar Stringman etc.

American and Japanese designs tended to use Panasonic (Roland used the MN300x a lot. Like in Juno choruses too).

I never really notice a real difference in sound between those BBDs IF the circuit is more or less similar and based on the Solinas, ie using 3x BBDs modulated by 2 lfos, one at 6hz and one at 0,6hz.

Roland ensemble fx do sound very different than the rest, but IMO it’s not because of the uses of Panasonic BBDs but because of the circuit design that is not based on the classic eminent design.

I do think however that the Bohm Phasing rotor and the Wersivoice are the lushest you can get (except, most probably for Jurgen Haible Triple Chorus, which unfortunately I never had a chance to hear. From what I've read the Bohm was a huge influence in his design).

So to make a long story short: no it’s not the same but I’m quite sure it would sound nice because it looks like it’s the classic design."

Custom Made Wersi Wersivoice Ensemble FX on Roland Juno 106

video upload by ohm_studi_ohm

"Very quick demo of a custom built Wersi Wersivoice analog triple chorus i'm selling just to showcase once again how lush these boxes sound and how they transform any synth in a great string synth.
I adressed the Wersivoice and it's cousin the Böhm Phasing Rotor in more lengthy and detailed videos [posted here] if you're curious about these units."

Behringer Introduce BODE FREQUENCY SHIFTER 1630 in Eurorack Format

video upload by Behringer

BODE FREQUENCY SHIFTER 1630

"Shift into high gear and get ready for that drop because the BODE FREQUENCY SHIFTER 1630 from Behringer is here! Expand your setup with an authentic recreation of the famous module from the ‘70s made with state-of-the-art circuitry including a voltage-controlled beat frequency quadrature oscillator. The BODE FREQUENCY SHIFTER just might be the piece you need to fill out that empty slot in your setup.

Ready for Any Signal

The BODE FREQUENCY SHIFTER accurately shifts the entire frequency spectrum of any input signal from -5 to +5 kHz. Simply plug in any audio source and start turning the giant knob to lower or raise the frequency. The amount of shift can also be varied with the Scale knob which lets you switch between linear or exponential control.

Controls

Additional controls on the BODE FREQUENCY SHIFTER include a variable threshold squelch which minimizes carrier bleed-through and can be used to creatively alter the input signal’s characteristics. Up to three control voltages can also plugged in, as well as up to four output signals.

SynthCone Splitter mini пример работы с CV сигналом

video upload by SynthCone

"Пример работы Splitter mini с CV сигналами.
Все происходит точно так же как с аудио сигналом. Во входы сплиттера подаются управляющие сигналы которые мы можем посылать в другие синтезаторы, деля и складывая эти сигналы. Можно управлять глубиной модуляции.
Аппарат получит своё достойное место в сетапе!!!

You can buy all of these synths from the SynthCone store on the Boosty website. Write to me in all possible social networks, I will answer your questions."

"An example of how Splitter mini works with CV signals.
Everything happens exactly the same as with the audio signal. The splitter inputs are fed with control signals that we can send to other synthesizers by dividing and adding these signals. You can control the modulation depth.
The device will get its rightful place in the setup!!!

You can buy all of these synths from the SynthCone store on the Boosty website. Write to me in all possible social networks, I will answer your questions."

ASM Hydrasynth - Sound Bank '79 - Vintage Patches

video upload by Polydata

"A bank of 50 patches for the ASM Hydrasynth drawing inspiration from synthesizer sounds found in documentaries and library music from the late 70’s and early 80’s. The goal was to squeeze as much analog juice out of this synth as possible, primarily working within the constraints of synthesizers of that era. Making these patches took quite some work, but I didn't want to stop until the sounds really embodied the tone and feel of vintage synths.

These patches are made for instant inspiration. I spent a lot of time creating these so you can just turn on the synth and get to work. They sound great on their own, or you can use them as a starting point to tweak for any scenario.
