Demo of Prototype Line 6 ToneCore Frequency Shifter, Barber Pole Phase Shifter
video upload by Ross Totino and Fans of Collision
You can find pics and additional details on the Line 6 Tonecore DSP Developer Kit in this post from 2013.
"The Line 6 ToneCore series was designed to bring exceptional quality effects, often inspired by rare and highly sought-after units, into a compact and affordable pedal format.
While many of these ideas reached production, some remained experimental.
One such concept was the Frequency Shifter / Barber Pole Phaser.
My fascination with frequency shifting goes back to the pioneering work of Harald Bode, whose designs helped define modular synthesis and introduced effects that remain rare, misunderstood, and uniquely expressive to this day. In the early 2000s, I proposed combining a true frequency shifter, not a pitch shifter, with barber-pole phasing, which is a variation of frequency shifting, into a single ToneCore module. Angelo Mazzocco, now of Meris, immediately connected with the idea and brought it to life as a working prototype.
This video is a demonstration of that prototype ToneCore module.
Special thanks to Angelo Mazzocco for his enthusiasm and exceptional DSP work, Dale Wagler for the industrial design, and Jeorge Tripps for the visionary product concept that made projects like this possible.

Ambient jam | NDLR, Artemis, Deckard's Dream, Peak, Prophet Rev2, Polymoon, Slöer
video upload by Jay Hosking
"Please support my work on Patreon: / jayhosking
A song performed live on the table with four great polysynths.
It felt like the right time of year to get a bunch of nice synths on the table and just explore. To that end, I connected the Dreadbox Artemis (bass), Sequential Prophet Rev2 (square arp motif), Novation Peak (pad), and Black Corporation Deckard's Dream (melodic motif) to the Conductive Labs NDLR and just had fun. The Artemis and Peak have pretty great built-in effects, but the Deckard's and Rev2 needed some help, so I added the Meris Polymoon to the Rev2 and the Walrus Slöer to the Deckard's.
This was my first time using the new hardware iteration of the NDLR — to be transparent, Conductive Labs sent it over for free — but it was a real step up in terms of the quality of the encoders. And it had been a couple of years since I had played with the Peak, but Novation had offered to send it over to explore, so I said yes to that as well. I previously had a Peak and had missed its effects (especially reverb) and filter.
Once the NDLR is connected and routed to the right MIDI channels, the musical exploration process is extremely fast. I will admit that I usually produce a certain kind of result with the NDLR, and I don't always want that kind of song. But as a palate cleanser, as a way to tap into very fast inspiration, I love putting it on the table and just getting musical results.
Overall, a nice way to end a good year. Thanks for listening.
Performed and recorded live, with EQ, compression, and limiting on the master.

Fender Rhodes through nanobox | lemondrop
video upload by Benjamin Dehli
"Signal-processing chain built around a Fender Rhodes piano and a 1010music nanobox | lemondrop.
The Rhodes piano's pickup output is blended with a contact microphone attached inside the instrument to capture mechanical key noise. The combined signal is routed into the lemondrop and used as a live input granular oscillator source. Granular parameters are adjusted in real time to reshape the incoming audio.
Both the processed signal from the lemondrop and the direct Rhodes signal are then sent through the stereo BBD delay on a Moog Matriarch. I also added some reverb from a Chase Bliss Audio & Meris CXM 1978 to create a bit more space and depth.

Yamaha DX7 Synthesizer from 1985–some favorite Custom Presets
video upload by Tom Loncaric
"Earlier this year, a friend gifted me this beat up Yamaha DX7 MKI. A sticker on the back indicates it was manufactured in 1985. A technician replaced the felts and rebuilt the keyboard. Apparently someone had spilled some sort of beverage inside! I also installed a new OLED display and the Special Edition ROM chip, which adds some useful features.
Since then, I’ve dragged the DX7 all over the United States, from Nashville to New York. It actually performs very well at concerts. This video showcases some of my favorite presets. The presets are gathered from various sources, including ones on the HyperSynth Hcard-101 cartridge, Bo Tomlyn cartridges, and believe it or not, DX7 patch books from the 1980s. I made a couple presets from scratch, however it took many hours—one must be extremely patient! Only one preset is from the factory Yamaha collection, and that is the infamous “E. Piano 1” sound.
Everything played live straight into an iPad.
Effects used:
Meris MercuryX reverb
Strymon Volante delay
Strymon Lex rotary speaker simulator"

Sonicware ELZ_1 Play | Ambient explorations
video upload by Jay Hosking
"Please support my work on Patreon: / jayhosking
Two ambient pieces composed and performed live on the ELZ_1 Play, with effects.
00:00 - Song 1
04:22 - Song 2
Sonicware sent the ELZ_1 Play over for me to explore because of its big new firmware update. To be honest, there is an overwhelming number of synth engines and effects within the ELZ_1 Play and I only briefly explored the options with any systematicity. Most of the time, I found the synth was a nice device to tweak presets or dial in a sound quickly based on a particular engine type.
A few of the synth engines are quite beautiful and unique, including some tuned noise that it is really pretty. For these explorations, I was mainly drawn to sounds I can't normally make on my other synths, like electric pianos or organs. The options to make and tweak whatever you want are there, but they require you navigating the menus to find them. That aspect works perfect well, but mostly I found the ELZ_1 Play was a great couch device where I noodle.
The biggest and best surprise was definitely the looper, which allows you to have four separate, synchonized or asynchronous loops just spinning away. The looper is an easy way to quickly find inspiration and compose something new.
For these live performances, I've also paired the ELZ_1 Play with a few effects to extend or build the ambient sketch into something a little more complete. The Walrus Qi adds some granular, delay, chorus, and reverb to the finale of the first piece, and the Meris Polymoon adds its phased delay-verb to the second. I also thought I'd try the Soma Cosmos as a different take on the looping idea for the second track.
Overall, I found the ELZ_1 Play to be a good companion for those tired days where all the music-making energy I had was on the couch. Having so many engine types meant I could explore new sounds, and having the asynchronous looper meant I was often quickly in the territory of a full piece.
Thanks for listening.

FALL - Ambient Synth Jam #22 // Pro3, Subharmonicon, Arbhar, Panharmonium
video upload by David Falcon
"I felt like I needed a change in the setup to spice things up a bit, so it was time to learn how to use the CV ins and outs on my Sequential Pro3, since I've never learned to use them.
Here I am sending gates to Arbhar to trigger a sample, as well as clocking the whole system with LFO 3. Nothing crazy so far, taking baby steps. This arrangement arised so I had to hit record and see where it was taking me.
Abrhar goes into the latest addition to my rack which is the Rossum Panharmonium. It is generating synth notes from the sampled strings in Arbhar.
At the begginning I am improvising with the Nord Felt Piano on top of the Arbhar, and then slowly bring the other elements into the mix.
Subharmonicon is doing some long chords, feeding into Meris Polymoon for delay/reverb with some phaser. This pedal is amazing with synths specially.
The Pro3 is doing a sequence that gives the rhythmic context to the rest.
Hope you like it. Looking forward to explore this setup further.
// Patch notes //
Pro 3 - Clock and gates. Pluck sequence.
