Final set of pics from my visit to Mattson Mini Modular.

MMM DIY modules in various formats. The stacks of PCBs are individual modules. The bottom pic is MMM Production Prototype #1 which has a Syntar filter module. Not technically DIY, but thought I'd include it in the set.

For those new to Mattson Mini Modular, you'll note the format of the modules in the prototype is unique to them. To accommodate other formats MMM offers their modules in DIY kits. You can find more info on their website linked above.

'A dub reggae inspire acid pattern for the 303 808 doing some simple drums into a bit of delay and the sh101 being triggered to fire a weird modulated noise into the same delay chain'

You can grab the pattern data from here. The pattern can then be programmed into your tb303 or x0x box to create a new track. The pattern could be programmed into your vst such as ABL or Phoscoyn to create a new track. Transcribe the pattern to midi and send it to your favourite synth to create a new track. Grab the audio file and rework the audio into a new track. Then post your finished track or jam into the acid pattern group. With this controller you can beat up your Moog synth like you would a drumkit: it works well for synth-kicks (moog reso kick!), snare (add a little noise), hihats and resonance filter toms (2nd time around-pjieuw) but for any old sunth sound, really, like basses and fx.

It has plugs for s-trig (cinch-jones), 2 x 1/4 jack with control voltages to use with pitch, filter, volume or any other cv input on your synth, an accessory plug for power supply (and gate for the Sonic Six!) The cable is about 14 ft long.

There are 2 knobs to handle scale (for the 2 control voltages) and sensitivity (for the trigger)

Korg MS-50 Analog Synth Modular

This keyboard-less expander type module is completely patchable and had either Hz/volt or volt/octave CV ins to the oscillator (which allows it to work with other old Korgs (MS-20, MS-10, SQ-10 sequencer) as well as the more typical Moog, ARP, Roland, Sequential Circuits and Oberheim CV voltages). This library introduces a diversified collection of sounds exclusively patched on two CURETRONIC modular cabinets. CURETRONIC is a classical sound synthesis system developed and continuously expanded by Matthias Schmidt. Each module of his ever growing product line gets carefully handcrafted and tested before beeing released.

"Using the Make Noise Rene as a traditional sequencer, outs to Tip Top audio Z3000 Mk I and II smart osc.. One Z3000 out is straight sine wave out to the mixer from the QMMG - Format jumbler with Hall effect. Second Z3000 is getting passed through the Korg Kaoss pad and is kind of sounding like vocal phenomes. Second sequence from the Casio SK-1 with a flute patch, recorded using the internal memory and auto play.

OK, so I have had this little melodic sequence running through my head since the Christmas / New Years Holiday Season and I spent two days and many hours on Rene dialing it in to what was running in my head. It wasn't until I was watching this video after I made it that it clicked where I got the melody from. I was playing with my NDS over the Holidays and was into Professor Leighton's Curious Village (great game BTW) and this is kind of similiar to the backround music in the game. I wasn't trying to re-create the music as it was in my head and I had not played the game in a few weeks since. It is kind of creepy and dark and makes me think of strolling a path in the woods and hearing strange things that creep you out.

Conductor turns the New York subway system into an interactive string instrument. Pulling from the MTA's actual subway data, trains pluck at intersecting lines. The piece begins in realtime by spawning trains which departed in the last minute, then continues accelerating through a 24 hour loop. The visuals are based on Massimo Vignelli's 1972 diagram.

Modded Roland GR-33B Analog Bass Synth

"The modification on this unit replaces the 24-pin connector with a break-out box that has a single 1/4" input. This allows any line-level signal to run through and be tracked by the GR-33B.
There are also extra knobs on the box that add more flexibility to filter cutoff and resonance and LFO. Because of the modification, the unit no longer works with a 24-pin connector, and only plays monophonic, although all 4 oscillators can fire at once.
