Mini Roland Jupiter 8 Synthesizer
via this auction
1/4 Size Model
"From the people who bring the JUNO-6 and JUNO-60’s into this decade with those black custom plastic side cheeks – we’ve got a one-off, non-functioning model created for another project we are now offering for sale. Who wouldn’t want their own Jupiter 8!
First, we’ve spend hundreds of hours of graphic design, taking measurements and building this “pocket version” to the truest heavy-hitter of analog synths – the Jupiter 8! This is an accurate model, down to the stainless steel screws into the beveled side panels, the acrylic display crystal, silver sides, rainbow of graphic buttons and rear panels of jacks and that huge red on/off switch. This actual unit is a prototype for a small series of full size units that are nearly complete (just in time for Roland’s introduction if the Jupiter 80 this month). This model is a solid 15 lbs. and is exactly 1/2 scale (which makes it one-quarter the size of the real thing). It is 21-7/8” wide, 10-1/4” deep and 3-1/4” high. It was produced from milled MDF, laminate, synthetic overlay and high quality paint coatings. While it doesn’t fool anyone into believing it’s real, it is a very attractive, very heavy and sturdy model and would look great in the personal studio that “has it all”, except for a JP-8."

"Though the serial # is missing form the back. I wrote it down way back when and I have to find it.
However, the first picture of the inerior when enlarged shows a board that says ARP P-2805-A Made in U.S.A.
Underneath that, etched into the board, it says 14 - 900. There is also a number inside on a component next to the fuse in one of the pictures that says 2804 - 008. I'd love it if this was the 8th one made, but I think that is a part number. I'd have remembered that number if it was on the paper. Any help here finding the actual serial# inside is helpful. The service manual is viewable on line but I don't understand it."

"Virus Matrix programmer was rarer than rare, as very few were made and for a synth player and collector it's a revered piece of history and very useful one too! Oberheim Matrix 1000 in White was just as rare and hard to come by."

Wersi Bass Babb vintage analog synth

"Not quite sure what to make of this synth, according to Peter Forrest's book it is 'a curious instrument with a row of twenty push-buttons underneath the keys, and then, below them, ten knobs. To the left are two sliders - one for wah-wah, one for glide. The copy talks of a pure bass guitar sound with a full range of flute stops - plus synthesized woodwinds and brass. Manual and automatic up/down, octave glide, variable attach and sustain, free-running wah-wah. With interfacing for remote control from external keyboard/pedals.' We have had it for about 20 years and used it on numerous recordings because of some of the strange sounds it is capable of making, particularly by using the wah-wah and glide controls. Everything works; it is in EXC cosmetic condition with no rips or tears to the tolex EXCEPT for a rectangle on back where somebody cut it off, or maybe there was an identification plate formerly attached. No lid - it looks as though it had one at some time past but now it's gone."

"As might be expected, makes a "clap" effect, though it's adjustable to sound like any kind of sharp percussive attack type of instrument. Why contend with some disc of samples when you can have the original."

Slightly unplugged
YouTube Uploaded by organfairy on Aug 2, 2011
"One of my cow-orkers asked what I was going to do in my summer holiday. I said that I was going to work on my washboard. He said that was a really good idea but little did he know that I was speaking in the literal sense! He thought I was going to do bench pressing and push-ups.
This is actually something I should have done 30 years ago. There was a time when I wanted to be a washboard player. I don't have that dream anymore but I thought it could be fun to try it out. And since I found a very cheap old washboard and had the other necessary items at hand then I just put things together and at the same time made this video.
The music is something I made back in 2002 (except for the washboard part). It is played on Yamaha HE-8 and Technics SX-C600 organs, Yamaha PSS-12 keyboard, Roland JX-8P synthesizer, and Roland CR-68 drum machine."

"A demo of the Psionics Soundworks Walking Stick Ribbon Controller on a Synthesizers.Com modular sysnthesizer. The Walking stick and a single Expression pedal are the only controllers in this short demo. There are no Oscillators being used and the pitch is generated by a Mankato Filter in self oscillation. Pressure controls amplitude and triggers the envelopes based on the amount. Touch position sends CV to the Mankato and the EP FM's the Frequency Shifter."

The output of the Phaser is feed to the amp. The MF-101 Low pass filter is being controlled by the LFO of the Phaser and is fed into the Mixer of the CP-251 where it is mixed with the noise source and fed to the Murf."

acidlab miami pure sound with adjusted trimpots
YouTube Uploaded by pac209 on Aug 2, 2011
"Like on the TR-808 it is possible to adjust internal trimpots on this machine. There are trimpots for clap length, noise feed/ for overdriving the snare, clap and tom a bit and the cowbell tuning. Basically the machine has all "mod" options available that the original 808 has but some are difficult or impossible to do because the technology on the board is all SMD nowadays...I found the pots inside a pleasant surprise :-)
The basic setting of the miami complies with the Roland 808 service manual, and was also adjusted by ear with a few TR-808s. However the snare and clap sound setting is a little "conservative" and deserves a bit more noise/ overdrive."
Epic Son

"This video started out as just a continuous 45 minute audio recording. I was enjoying the patch so much I just wanted to record a bunch of it before I unplugged everything. Then I decided to edit it down and ended up with a 25 minute 'best of' audio file. Then I edited it down further into this 10 minute video.
This is just more from the same basic patch I've been playing with on the last few videos using the Club Of The Knobs C951 arpeggiator module but this time I added the Moon Modular 552 CV to MIDI module so the output of the C951 could also control a MIDI synthesizer (in this case a Roland Fantom-XR) and blend it together with the Synth Tech modular bass line and arpeggiated voice.
Just some eye and ear candy, I hope you enjoy it. :-)
