"Ensoniq ESQ-1 Digital/Analog Synthesizer w/OS 3.50, manufactured in 1987. This auction includes the synth, original manual, original patch library book, SQX-10 sequencer expansion (installed), SQX-20 sequencer expansion, Voice Crystal X ROM cartridge, ESQ Voice-80 Vol. 1 Cartridge, original box (not pictured) and a battery replaced 6 years ago. The ESQ-1 is an 8-voice poly synth with digital waves, analog Curtis filters, and an 8-track sequencer. I am the second owner and it's in great shape with a scratch or scuff here and there, nothing major, no cracks, bright display, functioning buttons and sliders etc."

Sorry, I'm not entirely sure what happened with the video format. Friday afternoons are probably not ideal for making videos. This is me playing the Lyra-8, through some modular effects. A Bastl Grandpa plays a long recording in the background through yet more effects.
I should probably have moved the tripod further back but in an earlier attempt doing it that way, I only got half the synth in view.

This recording was started without preparing the Lyra-8, and by preparing I mean 'tuning'. Not that it matters hugely. :)"

"I make an expressive lead patch on the Pro 2 synth. The patch is based on providing performance control such as vibrato via aftertouch, filter cutoff via the mod wheel and distortion via the ribbon sliders. I make use of multiple oscillators including noise and finally add a bit of delay for ambiance."

"Ears, from Mutable Instruments, is their take on Tom Whitwell's Mikrophonie module, which provided a panel-mounted contact mic for tactile sound generation. Ears is a perfect match for a physically modeling synth such as Rings or Elements, prodiving a wide range of excitation noises. Ears also provides up to 40dB of gain, bringing any quiet sounds up to modular level. It has a high inpedance input, meaning it will work fine with guitars or other electro-acoustic instruments. In addition to this is an envelope follower, which provides a voltage at the peaks of the fluctuating volumes. A gate threshold also outputs a trigger whenever the volume exceeds a limit. This is great for using Ears as a drum or other percussive source."

Incredible vintage 2U rack sampler. think this was the first widely commercial available sampler? Incredible 12-bit, 4-32Khz sound (discrete 8-voice polyphonic, each with their own variable sample rate DAC(!)). Hands on control with sample start and end sliders. Paraphonic analog filter.

recently overhauled: full inspection by tech, all controls cleaned, power supply transistors replaced (apparently notorious for blowing and breaking the whole unit), chassis cleaned. in great condition

installed. I'll quote the creator on this:
Quote: The venerable S612 sampler was designed by David Cockerell in the early 1980s as one of the first "affordable" studio samplers on the market. Completely crushed in terms of specification by today's standards with its 1 second sample memory in max sample rate and ultra basic MIDI implementation the 612 still has a following. This is in part because it is remarkably simply to use and has a peculiar manual splicing control permitting the start and end points to be moved and even reversed in real time."
