Aquí unas primeras exploraciones sobre la interfaz del Buchla Music Easel.

En resumen: una interfaz increíble, que te permite dentro de un instrumento en apariencia sencillo y pequeño conseguir ruteos y configuraciones complejas que te dan un espectro sonoro inagotable. Estas posibilidades a la vez convierte al Easel en un reto, tanto para mantener un flujo musical como para ser constantemente creativo con las opciones de modulación que ofrece. El sonido es único, y como tal, es necesario familiarizarse con él y explorar todas sus posibilidades. Para este ejercicio usé el oscilador de modulación como un oscilador normal, que en este caso se encarga de todas las melodías tocadas en el teclado, mientas que el Complex Oscillator suena desde el secuenciador.

El ejercicio es más de exploración del instrumento que propiamente musical. Traté de hacer un patch que permitiera tener a la mano distintos colores de los 2 osciladores del instrumento, haciendo interactuar de distintas formas el Pulser con el secuenciador y el envolvente.

Todo lo que suena proviene del Easel, incluidos el reverb y las desafinaciones. :)

Here are some first explorations on the Buchla Music Easel interface.

In short: an incredible interface, which allows you, within an apparently simple and small instrument, to achieve routing and complex configurations that give you an inexhaustible sound spectrum. These possibilities at the same time make the Easel a challenge, both to maintain a musical flow and to be constantly creative with the modulation options it offers. The sound is unique, and as such, you need to become familiar with it and explore all its possibilities. For this exercise I used the modulation oscillator as a normal oscillator, which in this case takes care of all the melodies played on the keyboard, while the Complex Oscillator sounds from the sequencer.

The exercise is more exploration of the instrument than properly musical. I tried to make a patch that would allow different colors of the 2 oscillators of the instrument to be at hand, making the Pulser interact with the sequencer and the envelope in different ways.

Everything that sounds comes from the Easel, including reverb and detuning. :)

1. Buchla 208p Music Easel First Sketch

This is DIY Buchla 208 Music Easel that I built. It took me over 50 hours, and it still isn't perfect, but it is perfect for me. This synth has such a rich sound, and is so easy to change the voice of the patch, that it is hard to not be inspired by playing with it. I have always wanted one, and am so happy I had the chance to build one.

This is a idea that I have been working with since I started calibrating this beast. It is far from complete, but I like where it is going. All sounds were recorded direct from the 208p, no external processing, no external effects. Just a boy and his toy.

"Incredible string synth this, from Italian supremos Sisme. For many of us synth lovers it's the strings holy grail (along with the Godwin 849 String Symphony which is basically the same string engine plus some extra bells and whistles). UK/European voltage with UK plug fitted, fully working and sounding amazing, all slider caps present, keys haven't yellowed too much, logos bright and clear, wooden ends in great shape, whole thing very clean indeed. Bar some minor age related wear and tear which we can expect and forgive on a late 1970's/early 1980's synth, and some residue from an old sticker near the name logo, this is a beautiful example. Complete with full Tolex case (built-in case base and removable lid), also in well used but nice honest solid condition."

"Acidlab Bombass dual vco monosynth able to replicate the sound of a tb 303 pluss a whole lot more!
Has 2 VCOs and a ringmod, excellent for strange sfx as well as floor shaking bass. The VCOs will also sync and x mod to the filter making this a very versatile instrument for many types of music as well as just acid.
The 303 emulation is spot on, with squelchy resonance and thuddy accents but you will need a sequencer capable of doing slides and accents to mimic the 303.
Works perfectly with a roland tb3 / 03 or similar or just plug into your acidlab bassline if you own one. Its also possible to emulate the 303 with an arturia beatstep pro
Very quirky and interesting little synth !"

This is not an easy diy project, a friend help me to fix some stuff at the end.
I test it in front of Acidlab Miami /Roland Tr8 &Tr8s TipTop Audio Eurorack Modules and a Real Tr808, and this is my favorite with the real Tr808.
For this demo I use separate output for the Kick snare and HiHat and I use SSL eq and compressor to mix the sound.
I use it a lot for the Analog Drum Sample Soundbank of Sound Provider www.sound-provider.eu .

"The Arturia Spark LE - or Sparkle has been around for quite some time, but I only came across it when I needed drum sounds for a clip I made a few weeks ago. I was scouring the web for good drum plugin with plenty of sounds, downloaded a demo of this and was impressed with how good it sounded. And when I saw you could get the hardware controller for Spark used on Reverb for around $100 and new for around $200, I decided to check it out.

If don't mind a hardware-software hybrid instrument, it's hard to beat the price/performance value of Arturia's Sparkle. Sparkle is rich in content, sounds, features and performance, and the interface that lets you access it all is very easy to learn and use. Sparkle doesn't use up much CPU resources, so if you have an old laptop or computer around the house, you can put together a drum machine with features and control that will make standalone drum machines jealous, at any price range."
