This is one of my favourite vintage drum machines.

The Sequential (Circuits) TOM is a great digital drum machine made in USA - similar to the SCI Drumtraks. It has a decent MIDI implementation. The TOM's has 8 samples built in; inserting a sound cartridge, you can have 7 additional samples. A shame, that it does not have individual outputs.

The crispy 8-bit samples sound great. The built in sequencer has a 'tight' groove, it grooves like hell!
I don't mean the 'shuffle' function (there is none). It has a very tight timing!"

Quick Tip: Snare Drum Eurorack Modular Synthesizer Patch Tutorial

"Here is a quick tip showing one way to make a snare drum on a eurorack modular synthesizer.

You will need:
- a trigger source (clock or sequencer)
- two envelope generators (snappy exponential ones)
- a VCO (voltage controlled oscillator) with a sine wave output
- a noise generator
- two VCAs (voltage controlled amplifier)
- a mixer

The patch:
- trigger source to trigger input of both envelope generators
- envelope generator 1 output with short decay to VCO 1v/oct input
- envelope generator 2 output with longer decay to VCA CV control for both VCAs
- VCO and noise output to inputs of VCAs
- VCA outputs to mixer inputs
- mixer output is your snare drum

A snare drum is made of two sounds, a tonal part and a noise part. Here we made the tonal part by using a sine wave oscillator with a short decay envelope modulating the oscillator’s frequency. The noise part is made with a white noise generator. These two signals can then be mixed together and run through a VCA with a longer decay envelope.

To change the sound you could change the tuning of the sine wave or filter the noise. You could also adjust the envelope modulating the pitch of the sine wave and how much it affects the pitch. Adding distortion, saturation or compression to a snare can also improve the sound.

The Sesi are megalithic buildings made with volcanic rocks cumulus, with dolmenic corridors (from 2 to 11) leading to internal circular chambers. "This are the sounds of an already classic synth : Rob Hordijk's Blippoo Box, version 2018. Still a very unique analog synthesizer, at first looking completely chaotic, but then when you dig deeper you can find the sweetest spots... This video a just a short demonstration of what you can get after tweaking the knobs a bit.

The 2018 version of the Blippoo has a couple of changes in respect to previous versions:

1 The range of the oscillators is extended at the low end. Cycles can now
take up to minutes.

2 CV outputs are +/- 1V/Oct compatible over an eight octave range.

3 The S&H circuit is improved and has a switch to choose between two signals to sample: either Triangle B or the mix of the two Rungler signals.

4 The Resonator has a crossfader on its input to fade between the internal PWM pulse signal or an external signal that should be roughly at audio line level. Without an external input signal it can act as a volume/mute control.

5 The audio output signal is slightly hotter, in cases up to 4V pp.

6 The FRQ CV IN affects Rate A only."
