Bleep Labs' New intro to Arduino Course - "Creating light and sound"

Bleep Labs

"Bleep Labs' new online dadageek course, 'Creating Light and Sound' starts Sept 21st. This time we’ll learn how to code in the Arduino platform using a 8x8 RGB LED screen, accelerometer, touch sensors, and more, all with the powerful Teesny 3.2. Sign up now for 20% off.
https://www.eventbrite.com/e/intro-to...

Here’s a quick video showing what you can do with the solder free kit that’s included in the cost of the course.
It’s tricky to shoot video of these bright LEDs but they look great in person.

The first and last sections are a generative device which creates random-ish arpeggios and changing colors to go with them. Controls changes filters, colors, delay feedback, and the rate of the arpeggio. The audio is coming straight from the device.

In the second section a simple bitmap scrolls and loops. Colors are scroll speed are controlled with the knobs. Rather than creating sound directly this one sends MIDI notes and CCs to VCV rack.

In the third section two bouncing balls are simulated with random notes chosen each time they hit the wall. Of course there is also a tape delay effect. All sounds generated by the device.

Check out the code for these devices here. https://github.com/BleepLabs/dadageek...

When you take the class you get seven, three hour sessions in a class that is capped at fourteen students. The class is also just the beginning. I encourage my students to keep contacting me with their questions and ideas long after the class is done.

Check out the @dadageek site for info on scholarships."

Z506 Swiss Daisy DSP - Synth Voice mode

O.Z. Hall

"This is a demo of the Z506 Swiss Daisy DSP module from Zebra Synth (ZebraSynth.net). The module features an ADSR envelope generator, a VCA on the right half of the module. These functions remain the same with all of the different 'Modes'. The functionality of the left half of the module changes from mode to mode. The modes are VCO, VCF, Voice, Digital Delay, Reverb, Dual Resonator.

This is video covers the Synth Voice mode. The VCO has a fixed initial frequency with a Sawtooth output. The VCF has frequency and resonance controls, as well as an amount of frequency modulation from ADSR envelope generator."

AddStation - Next Generation Additive Synthesis for iOS In the Works

Virsyn

Update: new demos added and some info below. The app is now available in the App Store.

Playlist:

1. AddStation : Free Running Waves
2. Anti Dance
3. AddStation : Thunder Drums
4. AddStation : Wave Morph
5. AddStation : Drone from 1001 night sines
6. AddStation : Another Wheelitar
7. AddStation : Block Sequence B
8. AddStation : Take your Time

Additive synthesis is a sound synthesis technique that creates timbre by adding sine waves together. The timbre of musical instruments can be considered to consist of multiple harmonic or inharmonic partials or overtones. VirSyn already has a remarkable track record of products ( CUBE, POSEIDON ) trying to make this virtually unlimited synthesis method manageable for creative sound designers and musicians. AddStation is the next step forward giving you a tool to explore completely new sonic territory. The massive amount of sine waves in AddStation - thousands per voice - together with unique morph sequencing blocks blur the frontiers between analog and digital sonic realms.
And all this integrated in all relevant iOS production environments especially the emerging AUv3 AudioUnit standard.

Synthesis

• Fractal additive synthesis
• over 170 sound presets
• Four parts with 8 Additive Sequence Blocks
• Sound morphing
• up to 512 partials per voice with independent AD envelopes
• harmonic/inharmonic spectra
• Ringmodulation
• arbitrary filter function and noise spectra
• four independent analog style Arpeggiators

Effects

• Chorus
• Phaser
• Flanger
• Overdrive
• Parametric EQ
• Echo/Delay
• Reverb

Global

• AUv3 for Host integration
• Audiobus 3 compatible (Input slot) with state saving
• Support for Ableton Link.
• Inter-app audio compatible (Instrument/Generator)
• CoreMIDI / Virtual MIDI
• Audio recorder.

"Fully functional, sounds really great!

Has onboard speakers that are surprisingly loud and also a headphone out and “OUT” jack for amplifiers

Sounds like a great cross between an old acetone-style combo organ and an analog synth. Sustain sounds great and vibrato can get very deep"

"Now out of production this unit is in immaculate condition, owned since new and comes with original box, EU PSU plus I’ll include custom wooden cheeks.

The Tanzbar Lite drumcomputer is a further development of the MFB 522. He offers nine powerful analogue percussion instruments. A chase sequencer stores up to 64 patterns. You can chain up to 16 different patterns, A / B let you switch or alternate between A and B. Moreover you can program up to 16 different Flam algorithm. Step lenght is individual selectable for each instrument - polyrhythms are easy to get. 32 steps, 16th or 16th / 8th triplets are the basic metrics and a 15 different shuffles can be set globally. Four different accents are available. Five independed LFOs can be used to modulate the pitch of Bassdrum, Claps, Tom / Conga, Cowbell and Clave. They offers four waveforms and can be programmed independly for each step. The compact chassis is built from steel plate.

All Soundparameter can be recorded in step- or realtime mode. The sequencer sends Midi notes and can trigger other soundsources. Tanzmaus send and get Midi Clock. Beside Master Volume each instrument has its own volume pot and mute function. You have five individual outs and one stereo out, Claps are in stereo. The compact chassis is built from steel plate.

"The MP7 works perfectly and has 3 ROM cards in it. The Phatt one that it came with, the Xtreme Lead 1 card that the yellow one uses and a Prom 1 card that has Proteus sounds on it.

The yellow XL7 has some kind of gremlin in it where it turns on and works for a while and then hangs.

Both of them have been updated to the newest 2.0 firmware. This listing is mainly for the MP7 and the XL7 is for parts or you can try to get it running all the pictures are of the actual units."

"The powerful Spectralis workstation / synthesizer. Comes with power cord and two 128Mb SmartCards. This monster is in good condition - display is bright and all switches, LEDs, and encoders work. Every once in a while, two of the four encoders under the display will skip counts but this has never stopped programming. Also, a few of the encoders bottom out before switching some times. When this happens, I usually just lift the knob up a little. I've meant to put a small piece of paper or tape between the encoder and its knob, but had never gotten around to it as it never really bothered me that much."

"Everything works. Switches have been exercised (VS switches are like dogs, they are happiest when played with). Audio output is clean. No scratches. It's ready to play.

Caveats:
1/ I lost the little decorative thingy that bolts onto the joystick.
2/ There is a physical hum due to some looser assembly somewhere in there. It's not in the audio output, it's just a slight ambient mhhhhhhh you can hear when it's not in a rack. (I use it as reminder that the machine is on and needs to be turned off when not in use)
3/ There is a slight mark on the right side chorus control and rack rash on top of the unit.

Korg Polysix: The Dream Sounds

MIDERA

"korg Polysix with kiwi mod (and Eventide Blackhole).

Here are an array of sounds, many of which i built from scratch. This is a new synth to me. i have only owned it 1 week, so i can't really give a definitive sense of how well it stacks up to my other synthesizers... I never like the "this is the most amazing synth I've ever used!!! I just bought it today." because feelings change and time tells us a lot more than our initial impressions.

That said, I am finding this to be up there with my favorite synths. it has a tone that I never experienced with Juno's, JX series, Matrix 1000, or Polaris (in terms of pure analog synths). The Polaris is theoretically superior due to the two oscillators, but yet, I don't quite feel it has the same character.

The JX-3P is very sturdy, its character is mostly in the Chorus. I actually quite like the chorus in the Polysix, but it is mono so no stereo effect as in the Juno.

I've owned a Juno 106 but sold it because i felt the Matrix 1000 sounded superior (was a dumb move to sell it but I feared the osc chips were going to die and at the time there weren't replacements like there are today). i've borrowed a Juno 60 too... in all cases i prefered my JX, apart from the interface and some features. i still think the JX is a great synth and i appreciate the aesthetics of the thing. The Korg feels like its on another level. Knobs spaced apart just right. Not a lot of features, but they still feel right. I could get lost in the design without feeling like the UI was separate from the instrument... ie, the whole thing feels right.

When my Polaris is back from the shop, i plan to do a shootout between the Polaris and Polysix. I'm curious which one I can more easily create sounds I like with...."

Tubbutec Session #01 - Korg Minipops 7, Roland CR-78 and Roland SH-101

Tubbutec

"Three Tubbutec modified instruments in this video:

Minipops and CR-78 are both midi controlled via Tubbutec uniPulse. The interface allows velocity sensitive trigger of all instruments and clock sync.

The MiniPops Guiro can be pitch controlled, which is used to add a second melody line in some parts of the video.

The SH-101 is midi controlled using the Tubbutec SH-1oh1 CPU upgrade. Accent is controlled via midi, the additional filter envelope adds a smooth attack to the baseline.
