Rik Marston POV footage from Red Mountain Open Space located near the Wyoming / Colorado border. Pure BLISS. Pure Earth Magic! You are looking at MILLIONS of years of geological history before your eyes. So incredible to look at & feel the energies, it gives me goosebumps! I actually was looking at rocks 2 miles north of this area (out of the park) and found a few beautiful spots for videos and pictures. I'll film that next time. Big hike though, not for the faint of heart. Worth every step! I did manage to find a small 2 gram ordinary chondrite meteorite. -And that makes all of the trip worth it even more!

It's a 4 channel synth/sequencer/drum machine and it works great. The battery holders can be a bit tight for some brands of AAA battery (this is a known issue), but I was able to use my Ikea rechargeables fine.

I find the GUI on this device a bit hard to get used to and I'm having a change around of my gear (selling some stuff so that I can buy other stuff...)"

Dennis was a joy to film and listen to and even though his health was poor, his mind was super sharp. Sadly Dennis passed away shortly after we recorded this at his home in New Hampshire. However, his work lives on in the ARP2600, Aries 300 Modular and the legendary Oberheim SEM filter.

Originally released in December 2015 to critical acclaim and created to compliment the I Monster album of the same name, Bright Sparks documents the human stories of eight musical instrument pioneers, - Robert Moog (Moog), Alan R Pearlman (ARP), Don Buchla, Harry Chamberlin, The Bradley Brothers (Mellotronics), Adrian Wagner (Electronic Dream Plant), Peter Zinovieff (EMS) and Ken Freeman.

"I love the LFOs in the @Sequential​ Prophet 12! This is a simple chord progression, triggering the LFOs in the Prophet with 4 note chords. The LFOs do the rest.

LFO1 is. Rev Saw controlling the LPF Cutoff as 16th notes
LFO2 is Rev Saw controlling the HPF Cutoff as 1 quarter notes
LFO3 is triangle controlling the Osc 2 Shape Mod as dotted quarter notes.
LFO4 is Rev Saw controlling the Delay 4 time as quarter triplets. I wanted this to give slight pitch fluctuations.

Osc1 is Tines with 70 glide and 10 slop.
Osc2 is Tri
Osc3 is Sine
Osc4 is off.

The @Hologram Electronics​ Microcosm is set to HazeA. The @Elektron Digitakt is set to all sorts..."

Vintage Jen SX1000 synthesizer clean up and demo

"After cleaning up old computers I thought I would get my old synthesizer out of the loft and give it a bit of love. The Jen SX1000 is an Italian monosyth manufactured around 1978 which I paid £40 sometime in the late 80s just before analogue became in vouge again. It has a single oscillator, no memories and no midi but is sounds great and the simple layout makes it easy to understand and a great way of leaning subtractive synthesis.
I had not used the synth for some time and while it worked, the controls (potentiometer) crackled when turning them and some controls like the LFO speed didn’t work at all. So armed with a can of Servisol Super 10 contact cleaner I cleaned the potentiometers which after a bit of persistence cleaned nicely.

The controls are nice and clean and there is no noise or crackles when turning them, the LFO works correctly and everything on the synth is working well. I still have a broken top C key which is missing a spring which I am still trying to track down but after a good clean the machine looks and sounds great.
In this video go through the restoration process and then give a quick demo of the sound of the Jen SX1000."
