"This is an organic wonderful sounding analog monster. Instead of making complex circuitry to share and manage limited voices (4,6,8 etc,) Korg instead put dedicated oscillators onto every note. The result is 60 note polyphony. It has a unique way of shaping the sounds which makes the process of sound creation creative. It’s also very rugged and really never needs any servicing but in the unlikely event something did need servicing it’s the simplest task to open it up. 4 screws and the top folds back (on a hinge). 4 screws opens a front panel which allows each of the oscillators to be individually tuned. 5 screws and the keyboard pops out exposing everything."

Swiss Synthesizer Meeting 2023 at Gran Rex Auditorium in Locarno - 23. September 2023

I’m happy to share with you information about the upcoming jam session event of the Swiss Synthesizer Meeting.

This year we will perform in a very cool venue with a high-quality audio system: the Gran Rex Auditorium in old town Locarno (Ticino, Switzerland).

The jam session will take place as usual in two parts, with 1-hour pause in between. During this break the musicians will get some fresh air, as well as be available to answer questions from the audience about the world of synthesizers.

For the whole duration of the event it will also be possible to take a look and play half a dozen rare synthesizers: Theo Bloderer (www.greatsynthesizers.com) will exhibit some of his treasures and of course be open and available for questions and exchange.

Let’s go then! Come and see, hear and meet us at the Gran Rex Auditorium on 23. September 2023!

This is a look behind the scenes of a Eurorack modular synthesiser manufacturer as they present at the world's best Synth-show!

Demo of a wide range of sounds & special FX of the VCS3 - & how to program them - explained by Andy Whitmore at Greystoke Studio.

The VCS 3 (or VCS3; an initialism for Voltage Controlled Studio, version) is a portable analog synthesiser with a flexible semi-modular voice architecture, by Electronic Music Studios (London) Limited (EMS) in 1969.
This product was called various names by EMS. For example, the printed logo written to the front left of products are: "V.C.S. 3" or 'The Putney (VCS 3)' on the earlier version, then "The Synthi (VCS 3) II" on the later version (Synthi VCS 3 II).

The VCS 3's basic design was reused by EMS in many other of their own products, most notably in the EMS Synthi 100 (1971), and the Synthi A (1971) and AKS (1972) (essentially a VCS 3 housed in a plastic briefcase). The AKS also has a sequencer built into the keyboard in the lid.

"WIth this 2nd video featuring the Roland JD-08 synth, I wanted to make a more cinematic-like jam! The Keystep Pro is sequencing both synths featured here: the JD-08 (128-voice, 2-part digital synth) and the JU-06A (4-voice digital synth, modelling the analog JUNO-60 and JUNO-106).

The JD-08 is going through the Pill Pedal (ducking pedal) which is being triggered by a sequence coming from Track1 (Keystep Pro).

In order to add some movement to the JD-08, I'm also playing live with its "PITCH FINE" parameter on the transitions. On the outro, I also enabled the "famous" distortion of the JD-08 on its PAD sound 😉
