Behringer JN-80 - Sounds Like a $HIT - I mean, sounds like a synth lol

video upload by Noir Et Blanc Vie - After Hours

"Look, what am I supposed to say, it sounds fine, it plays fine, it's not a bad product.... BUT, how can I be excited about something that I don't care about. It literally sounds like a synth, not bad, not great, not inspiring, BUT who cares. It's a tool, use it if you got it. I could make an album with it as easily as a real Juno-60/106. I wouldn't buy it, but that's not because of any other reason than I don't need another synth lol. Behringer JN-80 is fine, but a Cmaj7#11 is the same no matter what the brand. Don't push brands, push creativity.

The Sequential Fourm: He didn’t get it… until he played it.

video upload by Devin Belanger

"The Sequential Fourm looked limited on paper, but after a month in the studio, my perspective has completely shifted. In this Fourm review & demo, I’m moving past the specs to focus on 4 performance demo songs that showcase the unique tactile experience of this 4-voice analog synthesizer.

The combination of a 100% analog signal path and Polyphonic Aftertouch makes this one of the most expressive instruments Sequential has released in years. Whether you are scoring for film or sound designing from scratch, the Fourm demands a different approach to synthesis.

Fragmenter Mini - HDMI Video Glitch Processor

video upload by LoFiFuture

"Available to order here: https://www.lofifuture.shop/product/f...

The Fragmenter Mini is based on the Extron DSC HD-HD HDMI scaler. It is a compact with a HDMI input and output capable of processing and scaling a HDMI signals from 480i up to 1920x1200, 1080p/60, and 2K.

With this modification I have extended the enclosure with a new 3D printed top shell that accommodates the controls.

There are 32 different bend points, 24 of them controlling the colourise effects and the other 8 controlling the fragment effects. This scaler has a very unique way of processing the image that results in the image being sliced into sections at a 45 degree angle when the fragment effects are applied.

The potentiometers are off in the middle (12 o'clock) when they are panned either left or right they control the intensity of that particular effect.

Each column of potentiometers are connected to a common bus, and each of these common busses can be connected to the column next to it via a momentary push button or a latching toggle switch. A useful feature when preforming visuals to music.

The original front panel buttons are concealed behind the front panel but can still be easily accessed with something like pencil for setting the output resolution. Otherwise they are never needed and dont access any fun parameters anyway."

Smart Wavesplicing for Creative & Unique Tones & Modulation // 3 Patches with SW3 Splice from DPW

video upload by DivKid

"Here we have the new SW3 Splice module from DPW Design. It's a smart zero crossing and zero difference dual switch module ... a mouthful maybe, but it's two channels of intelligent switching for audio or CV with simple to use options for anything from making mutes, manual gates, click free audio switching, modulation waveform chaining and a whole host more.

This is a '3 Patches' series video, where we distill things down to just 3 patches, but I've added in some bonus bits where I wanted to change up something in the patch to explore how the module performs with other sources. Check out the patches below."

"Wavesplicing made simple. It works both with audio and control signals or a mix of those.

The SW3 is a module to splice (switch) any signal together with something else click free at up to high audio rate. A tool for audio and CV experiments. A way to expand what you already have into new sonic and control roams.

It can be dual mono, stereo coupled or switching mono into stereo for big stereo fields."

Splice made its first appearance on the site last October.

Multi Repetitor: Four-channel rhythm and accent sequencer

Press release follows:

Noise Engineering announces Multi Repetitor, an algorithmic percussion sequencer designed for performance.

Los Angeles, CA — Noise Engineering, known for their unique and compact utilities, has released Multi Repetitor, an algorithmic trigger sequencer and sequel to their classic Numeric and Zularic Repetitor trigger generators.

Multi Repetitor has been completely rethought from the originals, and takes the core features of the version one designs into a whole new realm. Rhythm generation starts with the three rhythm banks: choose from Zularic, Numeric, or the newly developed Euclidean-derived linear rhythms, then use the Prime fader to scroll through base rhythms on the fly. Like its predecessors, it features four trigger outputs, now with dedicated performance faders that modify the rhythm output.

The newly rethought – and reversible – interface based adds extra parameters for more control of all four outputs. While it keeps the clock and reset inputs, Multi Repetitor also features an internal tap-tempo clock for standalone sequencing. Finally, this version adds four accent gate outputs to the interface. The impetus for these changes, according to the team, was to make the module fit better into compact percussion systems while still being a fun generative sequencer for larger systems.

While it’s possible to get deep into rhythmic modification with the extensive patterns, modification algorithms, and accent options, Multi Repetitor is designed to be a plug-and-play rhythm sequencer. Noise Engineering said that one of their goals was to make it easy to tweak parameters by ear and jam with no preparation required.

Multi Repetitor begins shipping on January 22nd at https://noiseengineering.us and at retailers globally.

Features
• Standalone play: tap in a tempo, patch up the outputs, and you’ve got a groove
• Sequence triggers and accents for up to four voices in your systems
• Choose from Zularic, Numeric, or Euclidean-derived base rhythm banks
• Select different base rhythms from the banks using the Prime fader
• Use three different algorithms to modify each output’s rhythm with the performance faders
• Modulate your rhythms with full CV control over faders and banks, and keep things in sync with external clock and reset inputs
• Plug-and-play operation: simple interface designed for performance is easy to use out of the box

Availability and pricing:

Multi Repetitor: In stock. Shipping from Noise Engineering and retailers starting January 22nd, 2026; MSRP US$320

"Nymira is a standalone harmony instrument designed around the circle of fifths. Its sonic engine draws from the overtone series, offering detailed timbral control across seven individual partials. Three distinct models explore different synthesis methods; one rooted in additive FM synthesis, another in classic subtractive design, and one based on granular synthesis. Together, they provide a new, expressive way to shape rich and complex harmonic textures.

Nymira is the only instrument in the world that maps the Circle of Fifths to a physical interface. Nymira is designed with Western harmonic theory at the core, allowing you to discover beautiful chord progressions that are much harder to play on other instruments.

Like all Terraphones, Nymira is assembled by hand, and is housed in solid walnut. Underneath Nymira’s keys are Cherry MX Silent Red keyswitches that offer a clean, tactile experience. With the ability to run on four rechargeable AA batteries, Nymira lets you play anywhere. Inside Nymira are two surface transducers that turn the walnut enclosure into a speaker of its own. Playing Nymira in this mode allows you to hear its warm sonic engine played through the walls of its walnut housing. Nymira also excels in the studio. It is equipped with USB MIDI out, and a stereo 1/4" audio output. If you don’t want to use batteries, Nymira can be powered via USB-C with any device that supplies 4-17 volts.

Aurelia, by Terraphones

video upload by Terraphones

"Aurelia is a wind instrument that bridges acoustic expression and electronic sound. It responds to both breath and touch, translating natural, human gestures into rich melodies. Aurelia’s key layout is unique to all other wind instruments, giving you the ability to play in every major and minor key with equal ease. Aurelia was created to feel as inviting to the novice as it is deeply expressive to the professional.

Aurelia’s keys use Cherry MX Silent Red keyswitches, giving you the accuracy and speed that can be found on the most well-tuned wind instruments. Housed in a handmade, solid walnut enclosure, Aurelia has a striking visual aesthetic that also feels extremely comfortable in the hands.

Aurelia has a unique sonic engine that uses warm, analog-modeled oscillators, creating a gradient of sound qualities that work well with both acoustic and electronic musical environments.

While playing solo melodies is at Aurelia’s core, it also has a Counterpoint Mode that will harmonize with you as you play. Just choose a key, and Aurelia will figure out the rest.

Aurelia is designed for portability. It can run on four rechargeable AA batteries, and has a built-in speaker. With USB MIDI out and a 1/4" stereo audio out, Aurelia excels in studio and live performance settings as well. Aurelia can be powered via USB-C with any device that supplies 4-17 volts.

Ambient Electronica of Fading Synths and Sapporo soundscape | Fading Memories 2026-01-22 by atnr

video upload by atnr

"This piece was created using the ‪@SequentialLLC‬ Prophet-10, ‪@MoogSynthesizers‬ Moog One, ‪@YamahaSynthsOfficial‬ CP88, ‪@NordKeyboards‬ Nord Lead, and tape loops. Set against field recordings captured in snowy streets of Sapporo, electric piano and synthesizer sounds emerge and fade away, forming an ambient electronica composition.

The Prophet-10 is used to play synth pads, processed with reverb and delay via ‪@ChaseBlissAudio‬ LOST+FOUND.

Two tape loops are used. One contains a one-minute recording of an electric piano performance, while the other plays field recordings from the streets of Sapporo. The electric piano tape is played back on a ‪@WeAreRewind1‬ cassette player and processed with delay using ‪@strymon‬ TIMELINE. The field recording tape is played on a Rock & Play cassette player, with the pitch lowered and further processed through ‪@ChaseBlissAudio‬ MOOD MKII, where reverb and layered micro-loops deepen the pitch and texture.

The Moog One and Nord Lead are occasionally played to add synth pads. The Nord Lead is processed with reverb via ‪@gfisys‬ Specular Tempus.

The CP88 plays a Rhodes sound, layering simple phrases with its built-in reverb and delay."

Analemma - downtempo ambient

video upload by rustyjaw

"Have worked on this on and off for a couple of months. The basic outline of the track took shape fairly quickly, then the familiar self-doubts crept in and I spun for a while. Not seeing a way to move forward, I stopped working on it. The holidays came and went, and I left this project in stasis. But when I finally came back to it with fresh ears, I could sort of see a path forward. I reworked parts and found the groove again.

I think the bass in this is probably the most interesting part, it came about from experiments with MIDI FX on Hapax, using random LFOs to influence filter and amp settings on the OB6, creating this off-kilter wobbly sound with some funkiness. That then inspired the percussion.

The major players in this are: 3Rd Wave (the opening sound), OB-6 on bass, Prophet, Digitakt, Digitone doing background ambience, Minilogue, and a sprinkling of the Make Noise NUSS system."

💎 The soundset is built around contrast and imperfection, drawing inspiration from natural phenomena, mental states, and inner anomalies.
Pads and strings blend smooth, emotional, and airy tones with subtle noise, creating fragile, lo-fi, and cinematic atmospheres, while textures and drones move into darker, noisier, and more atonal territory.

Shaped by slow or fast, evolving modulation, the presets feel expressive and alive, working as musical layers, background ambiences, or standalone soundscapes.

S4: Track in 10 - Bird samples

video upload by torso electronics

"An empty project and 10 minutes on the clock. In an uninterrupted one take we explore ideas, sculpt sounds, and let the S4 sculpting sampler guide the moment. "Track in 10" is about staying in the flow and creating without overthinking.

In this 'Track in 10' we are using the sound of four different birds to create a strange ambient soundscape.

A Love Story - Roland Cloud CR-78 First Look

video upload by Starsky Carr

"The Roland CR-78 CompuRhythm is one of the most iconic drum machines ever made — and now it’s back as a stunningly accurate ACB emulation inside Roland Cloud. In this video I take a deep dive into the CR-78 plugin, exploring its legendary analog sound, programmable patterns, classic rhythms, and all the powerful new features that go far beyond the original 1978 hardware.

The original CR-78 was the world’s first programmable drum machine and became famous for its warm analog voices, signature presets and musical groove. It appeared on countless classic records — from Phil Collins and Blondie to early synth-pop, post-punk and electronic pioneers.

In this demo I explore:

Roland’s ACB (Analog Circuit Behaviour) modelling technology

How the CR-78 patterns, fills and variations work

Sound shaping with decay, tuning, gain and metallic tone

MIDI CC control and DAW automation

Live performance workflow and pattern programming

Why this is so much more than just a retro drum machine

If you love vintage drum machines, classic analog rhythms, synthwave, post-punk, electronic music production or hardware-accurate software instruments, this is one you don’t want to miss.

🎛 Classic analog warmth
🥁 Programmable rhythms & fills
🎚 Deep sound design
🎹 Full MIDI control
🔥 Perfect for synthwave, electro, indie, pop & film scoring

The CR-78 may look simple — but it’s a seriously powerful creative tool once you start digging in."

Hacking the Korg Phase8 to uncover NEW SOUNDS

video upload by Oscillator Sink

"The Korg Phase8 has been present in the collective synth-nerd consciousness for a few years, as Korg’s Berlin skunkworks department have slowly released details and demo’d prototypes, most notably at the last two Superbooth events. An iconic, mainstream synth manufacturer like Korg, exploring and experimenting with an entirely new concept in how synthesis can be used was an exciting prospect, and captured a lot of people’s imaginations - mine included.

I was lucky enough to find time to explore those prototypes at the previous two Superbooths, and even more lucky to have Korg approach me with a completed production model to make a video about.

The final model is an impressive physical instrument, with Korg Berlin’s industrial design chops on display, but I’m here mostly to talk about the sound and the functionality of the Phase 8, so in this video I’ll explore how it operates solo, how it can be integrated into a larger setup, try out some “extended techniques” and discuss where I feel the Phase 8 could be pushed further.

Transparency notice: Korg kindly sent over the Phase8 to make videos about. They haven't requested or been granted any oversight of the contents of the videos. I haven't otherwise been paid, but I do get to keep the unit shown in this video."
