juno 60 arp sync livepa
YouTube via se7ense7
"I'm triggering the arp of the Juno 60 by just running a rimshot into it from my MPC (can be another machine, or another sound, as long as its loud, sharp and short... claps are too long for this to work properly) at 16th notes. This way I can sync it with the beats and bassline. Great fun this old machine!"

flickr set by matrixsynth. Click the pic to bring up the controls and flip through the pics. I actually ran out of space on my video camera, which led to me switching to my camera for video, which let to me running out of space. I took a ton of images and video, but not as much as I would have liked to. The turn out was big this year with MMM, flight of harmony, harvestman and John Bowen as far as manufacturers. Tons of cool gear and tons of cool people. Be sure to check out the images in this set. Jim Patchell was there with his DSM1, FPGA synth with a whopping 512 oscillators. Big thanks goes out to John Marshall for being a more than gracious host this year as usual. P.S. It looks like I reached the limit for labels (20) for Blogger.

ADSR and the Buchla
I patched up a 281, plugged into the 107 voltage controlled mixer to make some percussion sounds. The good thing about a 100 series gate like this or the 110 is that they are all transistor and don't have the characteristic Vactrol mushy attack. Everything has it's place after all."

Moog ladder filter paper - now with added diodes
via Tim on the AH and SDIY lists:
"Hi lists,
After a not inconsiderable amount of effort (it feels like I've been desperately trying to meet some college project deadline - it's taken weeks and weeks...) I have managed to update my Moog ladder paper, to be found here and linked from [here]
Not only does it now include some of the diode ladder configurations, but there is a shedload of stuff to do with poles and frequency responses etc. in there too (oh, er, and it has mushroomed from 6 pages to over 50 :-/ ). It is pretty heavy going on the algebra, but there is nothing too high-powered in there, and there are lots of pretty pictures too. (Also note that I have changed the title to reflect its more-encompassing content.)
If anyone spots any mistakes or out-and-out howlers in it, I'd particularly like to hear of them, thanks!
Regards,
Tim"

Analogue Systems rs300 CV to MIDI Module
YouTube via bigcitymusic
"Yes. It's control voltage converted to MIDI! (not the typical midi-cv) The rs300 is the only module that can take control voltages from your synthesizer and convert them to MIDI messages. Imagine the possibilities! Here's a quick demonstration of using an LFO to control oscillator 1 of a Dave Smith Evolver keyboard.
The next clip is using an analog sequencer to control the oscillator 1 pitch.
More in-depth possibilities soon!"

Moog Polymoog Coffee Table
via Kenneth Eldhardt:"Even though I was informed by another forum member that somebody else chopped the legs down on a Polymoog and called it a coffee table, I'm not sure that really makes a legimate, functional, or asthetically pleasing coffee table. So I did a full Polymoog to coffee table conversion. It was a lot more work than I originally wanted to put into it, but it came out great and really makes a nice coffee table. Later it will go up on ebay. I don't have a decent living room setting, so I'll have to take it somewhere to get better pics in a nice living room, but for now it sits finished in my garage and in the initial pictures below."

Since some of you contacted me privately telling me their desperation I decided to help people wanting to upload some samples into the machine. Send me your .WAVS and I'll send you back an image of a floppy with the sounds in it, so you can simply convert it into floppy using Omniflop and load it into the AKAI S900.
Limit for this free offer if of one floppy per person, as MIDI sample dump is SLOOOOOOW!"

x0xb0x Walkthru With Sound Designer Justin McGrath

"If you've been shopping around for DIY TB-303 clone kits -- and who hasn't -- you owe it to yourself to check out the x0xb0x. We heard that local sound designer and film scorer Justin McGrath had one, so we headed over to his studio to check it out.
I was so amazed at how accurately the x0xb0x recreates the sounds of the TB-303 that my x0x were literally blown off. Seriously. I was x0x-less while watching this interview. Take my advice and affix your x0x with x0x-garters before watching.
See more on Gearwire.com."
Jean Michel Jarre Synth Site
via Khoral: "I just stumbled across this Jarre fan site that I thought might interest the matrixsynth readers. It's in polish (I guess) and you get the traditional gear list of JMJ, but the catch to me is that the guy has recorded good quality examples of how some synths were used. For instance, JMJ used a lot of D50 factory presets on his Revolutions album, and you get recreations of the parts played with the original factory preset. All in all, a nice source of info about his use of gear, but also a good source of synth examples in general.Best regards

"This is a quick video showing the front panel tuning mod that I did to my Linn LM-1. Others have done this mod and it really improves the tweakability of the LM-1.
If this seems a lot like my previous video showing tuning of the LM-2, well..., I guess I was trying to make my LM-2 more like an LM-1. You can judge whether I succeeded.
I am planning on auctioning this LM-1 soon..."

http://www.smule.com/"
"Instant change. Instant fun.
Tired of your same old voice? Seeking a little vocal variety? Get into character with Smule's Sonic Vox, the real-time voice shifter.
With Sonic Vox you can alter your voice with a swipe of your finger. Want to cross over to the Dark Side? Slide your finger to the left. Now say it. You know you want to. "Luke, I am your…"
Or maybe you are feeling conflicted about having lost a "preciousssss" ring? Move your finger back and forth horizontally and go ahead, rant on.
Transform your voice even more. Simply swipe your finger up and down and hear what happens… happens… happens…
Sonic Vox is easy to use. You can test it out by talking in your phone. It's even better with headphones. It is most effective, however, if you plug your iPhone into speakers and use your phone like a real microphone.
Adventurous? Connect your iPhone (speaker-out) to your MacBook (mic-in). Switch the system preference to Line-In. Launch Sonic Vox. Launch Skype. Make that call.
We hope you enjoy Sonic Vox. Try other entertaining apps from Smule, including the acclaimed Sonic Lighter and Sonic Boom.
Sonic Vox requires an iPhone or iPod Touch 2nd Generation with Mic."
