DVDOjoyCTRL.mov
YouTube via rezzn8r — June 09, 2010 — "A Wiard 1209B Joystick and a Blacet 2040 Mixer/Processor modulate the A & B wavetable banks of a Modcan 62B Dual VDO. The 2040 adds Offset and Amount control to the X & Y CV from the joystick. This functionality is built into the Flight of Harmony choices, and Modcan X/Y controllers. The scaled Y signal is also fed to a quantizer, and then the 1V/Oct on the DVDO. The DVDO's Detune is modulated my a Sine LFO."
Happiness (Plogue Bidule + 2 Doepfer Dark Energy + Audacity)
YouTube via GruithuisenCityMan — June 09, 2010 — "Hello ! My name is Frederic Gerchambeau. I have made this movie and this music. The music has been made with Plogue Bidule sequencing a Doepfer Dark Energy. Another one is played by hand. The sounds of these 2 Doepfer Dark Energy has been reintroducted into Plogue Bidule in order to permit to a long delay to be added. The all thing has been made in one take and has been a bit edited with Audacity (compression and short stereo delay added). Enjoy !"
IK Multimedia SampleTron with Dave Kerzner - With the real deal Mellotron!
YouTube via ikmultimedia — June 09, 2010 — "Sonic Reality CEO Dave Kerzner talks about IK Multimedia SampleTron and the adventures of recording the real deal instruments. Check out the "Smellotron" story and other vintage keyboard Mellotron related equipment in this great video.
For more information: http://www.sampletron.com
SampleTron is a new virtual instrument from IK Multimedia and Sonic Reality that combines the authentic recreation of "Tron" sounds such as Mellotrons, Chamberlins, and Optigans with the powerful SampleTank engine to take those nostalgic sounds into the new millenium. No other product allows you to manipulate, process and stretch such gritty, emotional and quirky lofi sounds like SampleTron. It's a virtual instrument made for many styles from hip hop to electronic to classic rock and offers some of the most unique musically useful tones you can imagine. From the nostalgic sounds used by The Beatles, Moody Blues, Genesis, Yes and other rock bands of the 60's and 70's to the modern production of artists like Kanye West, Smashing Pumpkins and Beck to new sonic creations now possible only with SampleTron, the sounds in this package are diverse, powerful and inspiring!"
MELLOTRONICS M3000 HD - 3 minute guide
YouTube via OmenieSoftware — June 09, 2010 — "Just like the previous 'Strawberry Fields for Ella', I set myself a challenge - can a total non-pianist have a shot at probably the most iconic Mellotron song ever (as opposed to the most iconic Mellotron intro ever!) using just one finger and the M3000's chord pads.
See what you think - the solo isn't quite right, but honestly, you have no idea how many takes I had to do to get it this close. Next time I want to make a video, I am renting me a pianist. And maybe some dancing girls too."
I'm not finding this one on iTunes. If anyone can, feel free to comment.

4ms Shuffling Clock Multiplier

"The SCM is the perfect counterpart to the 4ms Rotating Clock Divider. Prepare to wield one of the sharpest tools available in the Eurorack format.
While the RCD divides the SCM multiplies and then some. The SCM starts by giving you straight and shuffled multiples of your original clock tempo. An "S" next to a number denotes a shuffled output. The rotate function is also available, allowing you to relocate the divided outputs to other jacks. This can be controlled via modulation sources like an LFO or sequencer track to give you more happy accident rhythms than you handle.
The "Slip" function allows you to drop out pseudo-random clock output pulses. This is done via a control voltage input and could also be sequenced. Paired with the RCD, the SCM will literally run circles around your music. The pulse outputs could trigger envelope generators or open VCA's and low pass gates directly. Incredible variations on a theme can also explode with the use of even a simple sequencer."
Oberheim Two Voice On the Way?
via Unfiltered on the Moog Music Forum:
"Just received an email from Tom Oberheim, he says a new two voice system including keyboard with his new SEM's should be available in fall. Awesome! Next thing you know there will be a new ARP odyssey. It's the 70's again!"
and via gazer:
"The new two voice will have an updated 16 step sequencer that can split and be used as two 8 steps or a 10 step and two steps, or... I asked him if the sequencer would have cv outs to control a third or possibly fourth patch panel SEM While you play the two voices of the synth with the keyboard and he said 'hey that's a good idea.' Tom O rules. I kept this secret for like six months but since the beans are spilled... I can't imagine he'd mind it has been his plan since the beginning and has been fairly open with us SEM owners. The mp201 works as a nice midi to cv converter for a patch panel sem plus then you have two cv outs left for what ever you fancy. Tom is so stoked about the two voice it's awesome. He's really funny. Like a nice grandpa that is super tech smart."

Logos Foundation DIY Synth

I took a look at the Logos Foundation website and couldn't find any info. I sent mono poly a message to see if he remembers where he spotted it. Hopefully we will hear back. Until then, do check out the Logos Foundation for other interesting sound projects. BTW, if anyone finds this, and/or has any more info on this one, feel free to comment or shoot me an email - contact info on the bottom right of the site.
It definitely does have an EMS Synthi feel to it.
Update via metasonix in the comments: Deviant Synth tracked down some info here, complete with links to the nudist bits. For the archives, the synth was made by the founder of the Logos Foundation, Godfried-Willem RAES and is based on Texas Instruments gambling and arcade audio chips. Via this page on the synth: "To make the instrument I started of by using chips originally designed for gambling-machines and the sound subsystem of video arcade games. Looking through the specs and data-sheets provided by Texas Instruments, it became immediately clear to me that this chip contained virtually anything one would find in a large and very expensive analog synthesizer. Moreover, it came out that it even was ahead of the available technology on the synthesizer market of that time: it had a fully digital mixer/patcher section!
Adding a few more chips, gave me the possibility of playing live-music on it as well as of programming it as a sequencer. The 'Synthelog' was born: the smallest one measuring only 10cm x 25cm x 6 cm and costing only about 20 dollars...
As an instrument it contains 3 VCO's, 1 noise generator, 1 sequencer, digital mixer/patcher, ringmodulator, 1 VCA, 1 ADSR-generator."
Synth Babes label for the click through on Deviant Synth, not for Godfried-Willem RAES. Note Deviant Synth is technically safe for work, depending on how you look at it, but the male and female anatomy click through is not. Update: I heard back from mono-poly. He found out about it searching for stuff from Godfried-Willem RAES who is also a composer. He also sent in this Wikipedia link with more info on him.

For some reason searching on Folktek on the top left currently only brings up two results (three with this post). It seems hit and miss depending on the search term though.

You should recognize Richard Lainhart from the numerous posts here.
For those in Western Europe, Richard will be performing at the Avantgarde Festival running July 2-4:
".. not just music... our aim is to create a place… and an atmosphere where…like musicians who meet on stage to jam... well , other artists like… painters, poets, shortfilm-makers… visuals... find a space to "jam", to collaborate... on a screen , on a canvass…
… a retreat ... "chill area"... is very important ... intensive listening and viewing can be very exhausting....
…oh yes… last year we came across the element "Fire"… in a performance by Spanish and French artists ... this year we want to develop this idea a bit more… we have invited a french lady welder artist… "jam" with local craftsmen ? … "fireworks" ? not quite ... rather "works with fire " ...
and …well, the spoken word - the often forgotten spoken word ... a poet from Pakistan will be our guest this year and we hope that there will be an encounter of word artists... a sort of catalysation might happen ... or rather multiplication... yes, indeed… multiplication ..."

Multivox MX-2000 Duo Vintage Synthesizer
via this auction
"The MX-2000 is a rare 2 oscillator synth with some very meaty, very analog sounding instrument patches. Perfect for making screaming DnB style bass lines. It would take an extremely talented effort with such as absynth to even come close to the actual analog sound of this synth. Arguably the best find of my life. A true analog enthusiasts dream. Made in Japan in the late 70's. Monophonic 3 octave Keyboard. The Keyboard has a small chip out of the low A key and over the years a silver toggle that controls solo or unison has broken off."

Pre-Acid 303 - Early Roland TB-303 Tracks
The subject of a TB-303 revival came up on the Analog Heaven mailing list. The discussion lead to some sharing the first tracks featuring the 303, including of course pre-Acid tracks. The following are a few of them including a couple by Alexander Robotnick I tracked down. They are in order of release by year ending with Phuture's "Acid Tracks", credited as the first Acid track ever, for good measure. Wikipedia on Acid. If you know of any others pre 1987, feel free to comment or shoot me an email and I'll add it to the post. I know there was a track which used the 303 as a traditional bass guitar, but I forget what it was.

YAMAHA TX7 EXPANDER FM TONE GENERATOR MIDI SYNTHESIZER
"The TX7 was the table-top 'expander' version of the phenomenally successful DX7 synthesiser. As well as acting as a synthesiser in its own right, it provided extra storage for 'performance' patches for a DX7, which only has one global performance setup. The intention was that the DX7 and TX7 be linked together via MIDI so that the TX would download performance information to the DX as patches were selected. The TX7 had a front-panel editing interface for the performance data, but not for the onboard patches. Other than that, the voice architecture was identical to the DX7's. There are literally 1000's of sounds available for this module online for free." You cannot fully program a TX7 on it's own.

via this auction
"This unit is part of the Rick Powell Collection. Rick was a musician, a major producer and a contemporary and close friend of Bob Moog, among others, and often received original units from manufacturers to test in the studios...
This is a vintage Maestro Sound System for woodwinds (It allows a choice between clarinet and sax at the input). It's a "sort of" synthesizer that will take the input from your woodwind pickup and allow you to select from a bank of sounds that it emulates as you play. Seems really simple to operate, which is good because we don't have the manual for this. So let's say you pop in your clarinet and select Baritone Sax... it comes through the speaker an octave lower with a nice growl. Same with Tuba, etc. It's in fine condition - really good condition. You can ALSO do combos of sounds as you play. Very interesting piece of gear. These are the sounds:
Contra, Fuzz Tone, Cello, Tuba, Bass Sax, Bass Clarinet, Bassoon, English Horn, Oboe, Muted Horn, Natural Amp"
