"Here is a short piece for Haken Continuum, and the Chinese zither known as the 'guzheng'. Normally, the guzheng is played with finger picks on the right hand, but I chose not to use picks so that I could move freely from one instrument to the other if I wanted to. This means that I had to sacrifice certain guzheng techniques (such as the tremolo) which require picks.

In this video I am using a full keyboard extension which sits just above the fingerpad of the Continuum and acts a mechanical alternative for playing the instrument. The extension has no electronic components, and is not connected in any way to the Continuum itself. Basically, it consists of a row of small mechanical depressors, one for each of its 88 keys, and is just a convenience to facilitate accurate and precise runs, arpeggios, trills, etc.

The Continuum is a thousand instruments rolled into a single interface. The sound you hear from it in this video is only one of a huge number of possibilities from sound designer Edmund Eagan. Unlike many new interfaces, the Continuum generates its own sounds independently, and does not require a computer."

Time to bring back the Timbre Wolf for a track! For this song, I started with some heavy drums & backing synths from the Circuit. It is paired with the Timbre Wolf churning out three different tracks. The first track is going into the Korg TP-2 ch.1 for some nice tube overdrive. The 2nd Wolf track is going into ch. 2 for both tube overdrive and heavy optical compression. The 3rd is utilizing the built in analog distortion. All of this was recorded and mixed in Logic."

Korg Minilogue Sequenced with Temps Utile (Ch. B) at 7680BPM (x64) playing a one step sequence. I placed three different chords in three different patch memories right next to each other allowing me to switch between chords while still retaining the key hold.
The Minilogues output is being set to Zvex Lo-Fi Junky, then into the JHS Alpine Reverb.

"I asked Robin Wood and got this reply, which he said was OK to relay.

'Nice to see a few photos of this beast, usually only seen in OGWT video footage (or should that be TOTP?)..

This was a special built for Roxy by Gerry and Brian Rodgers, quite possibly after they had split from EMS when they were trading as RSE (Rogers Studio Equipment).

According to Gerry there were problems with its reliability. Also Gerry says Eno was 'sacked' by Roxy partly because of the instrument, so it's 'working' life was short. Information not easily substantiated..'"

"Eurorack modular with Dave Smith Instruments Tempest and Elektron Analog Heat.

Tempest sends clock to Intellijel uMidi, which distributes cv around the system.

Bass voice is Atlantis played by Monome Ansible Kria.

Second voice is Dixie II+ and Polaris, from channel 2 of Kria.

Third voice is from B2 sequencer channel of the Tempest, playing Synth Tech E330 through a Cwejman MMF1s.

There are a couple of other melodic parts coming from the Tempest itself.

Orthogonal Devices ER-301 is playing some noise, ambient, and speech samples (from Synth Tech circuit bent module) that I created and recorded previously. Trigger from Malekko Varigate8/Voltage Block.

Tiptop One has some percussion loaded.

Audio Damage Neuron is doing the noisy hi-hat thing.

Intellijel Rainmaker and Audio Damage Eos are on the effects send of the WMD Performance Mixer. Eleketron Analog Heat is inserted into the master bus."

"The Crumar DS-2 is a really big sounding analog synth. Made my Crumar in the late 70's, it was apparently once of the first DCO synths that was still fully analog - the LFOs on this synth are really crazy and you can get some very spacey sounds, as well as aggressive and bass-heavy low end.

Cosmetically, it is in decent shape, the front panel has some slight rusting from age, but it is in very good working order! I had the synth serviced recently, and had MIDI added, which really takes it to a whole new level. Everything functions as it should, including the poly section. It comes with a case enclosure as well (not in picture).

Ambika is a monster hybrid polysynth. Its design consists of a motherboard and 6 voicecards, each of them carrying a turbocharged version of the Shruthi hybrid synthesizer (digital waveform synthesis through analog VCF/VCAs). Whether you want to use this as six monosynths, a six-voice polysynth, or anything in-between is up to you: MIDI channels/keyboard range/patches/voices are distinct concepts, allowing complex layered, split, multitimbral setups. In addition, each voice has a switched individual output.

Improved sound generation engine

Ambika offers all the delicious digital waveform synthesis algorithms (FM, vowel synthesis, wavetables…) that made the Shruthi famous, and some newcomers too: CZ-style emulation of digital filters and wave sequencing. The oscillators signal is now processed through a fuzz/distortion and a bitcrusher before being sent to the analog filters.

The modulation possibilities are immense thanks to the 4 LFOs (3 synchronized and 1 free running), 3 ADSRs, and the large modulation matrix (14 slots, 4 modifiers)."
