Rossum Electro-Music Control Forge new screen saver
Published on Jun 28, 2017 DJ Peeb
"So we have a nice little upgrade to the firmware which brings a couple of benefits, one being a screen saver to give the screen a longer life - I thought was a nice touch.
I also thought you might like to see what amazing concept they came up with for the screensaver and I provided an appropriately epic underscoring (sorry Dave - love you).
The update is also worth it for the new tempo sync option, have a look at the download tab on the following page - it's easy to complete the update:

A COLLECTION OF EURORACK MODULAR JAMS ~ Make Noise, TipTop Audio, Mutable Instruments, OTO Machines
Published on Jun 28, 2017 once upon a synth
"Jamming and improvising on my eurorack modular synth. There are few different jams in this one. I ran the whole thing through an OTO Machines BAM for delicious reverb. The main sound sources are the TipTop Z3000 and One. I then feed those through the 2040 and VCF-74 filters. The Z3000 is also run through the Fold Processor. The main sequencer is the Z8000 which is first quantized with the Quantizer before being fed to control the Z3000. The Make Noise Tempi is driving the Z8000 and the Z4000 envelope generator which is turn is modulating the Z2040. The Make Noise Maths also helps to modulate the Fold Processor parameters. The drums and percussion sounds are a combination of the Peaks in drum mode and the One sampler.

Casio XW-P1 synthesizer tour and review
Published on Jun 28, 2017 Gearfacts
"The Casio XW-P1 was a disappointment for me, although I can see why some musicians would love it. It's got a lot of features that would take a long time to learn. The sounds are average at best, but it's clear that with considerable effort you could make some great complex tones."

Korg DSS-1 synthesizer/sampler review and programming guide
Published on Jun 28, 2017 Yateveo
"Here's a pretty long review and exploration of the Korg DSS-1, the digital/analog sampler/synth mega-hybrid from 1986. This thing is a beast, both in sound and physical presence. It's over 40 pounds and so big I had trouble fitting the whole thing in one shot!
In this video, I explore some of the features of the DSS-1 and discuss its place in the history of synthesizers/samplers as well as potential uses in a modern studio. If you just want to hear some sounds, skip to 33:16."

Korg Poly-800 Review & Guide by Yateveo
Published on Sep 14, 2016 Yateveo
"Here's a long-form presentation of Korg's 1983 analog synth, the Poly-800.
In this video, I focus heavily on Korg's product decisions that led to how the Poly-800 took shape and was, over the years, assessed by the public. I discuss how to program the Poly-800, a few key features, and its various strengths and weaknesses.
Overall, it's a pretty nerdy synth talk. I hope you find it interesting.

Philosophy:
Our bodies are temples, these temples are moveable by the will of our mind and spirit, used to act, interact, hold facades and tell the truth about our wellbeing. Yes, sometimes it’s wise to listen to our temples, they can tell us stories about ourselves.
Can your mind control THIS temple?
It’s minimalistic lay-out tells it’s user something, but not everything. Treated with respect it echoes and reflects, but when overdone in excessive behaviour it becomes hard to balance and the side-effects start to kick in.
I hear you say what? You are enjoying the side-effects?
In the end it’s up to you which poison you take."

I wasn't too sure if the LED light on BEAT is lighting up correctly, as well as the OUT jack on the rear is untested as I don't have the gear. Main Output on the front is fine."

The Behringer D Price Lowered to $299
You might recall, the original targeted price for the upcoming Behringer D was $400.
Pre-orders are now available for $299 with a target ship date of September. The new price may, or may not be a reaction to Roland's new SE-02. The MSRP for the SE-02 is said to be $499. This make the Behringer D $200 less. Of course the feature set is slightly different. The SE-02 adds patch storage and a sequencer.
The Behringer D Analog Monosynth Module Features:3 punchy-sounding voltage-controlled oscillators
Classic 24dB voltage-controlled filter with resonance (Emphasis)
Filter selectable for lowpass or highpass
Noise generator (selectable between White and Pink Noise)Overdrive circuit
USB-MIDI plus 5-pin DIN In and Thru
CV connectivity
Glide (portamento)
External audio input
Low-output and high-output 1/4" outs
Behringer's 3-year warranty
The Roland SE-02 features:
Discrete analog circuitry with knob-per-function interface
Three voltage controlled oscillators with six waveforms
Temperature-stabilized oscillators with automatic tuning
24 dB low-pass filter and dual gain-stage amplifier
Three types of cross modulation (XMOD), feedback loop, and noise generator
Tempo-syncing LFO with nine waveforms
Tempo-syncing digital delay with bypass to maintain analog signal path
Save and recall sounds with 384 preset and 128 user locations
Musical and intuitive pattern sequencer with song mode
Sequence notes, gate time, glide, and synth parameters
CV, VCF CV and gate inputs, plus trigger in/out
External Input for routing audio through the SE-02’s filter section
Standard MIDI, USB-MIDI, and USB-Audio
Create a polyphonic synth by using Chain Mode to connect two or more SE-02s together via MIDI

AJH MiniMod Eurorack Demo
Published on Jun 27, 2017 Perfect Circuit Audio
"The first patch in this video is a bass sound with two saw oscillators overdriving the Transistor Ladder Filter. The second patch uses the shark tooth waves as well sub bass waveforms generated by the Ring SM module, a delay makes the sequence sound more complex and a second MiniMod Filter is used on the delay repeats. In the third patch one oscillator is synched to the other and the delay is still used.
The AJH MiniMod Eurorack modules bring the great sound of the MiniMoog Model D discrete circuitry into the Eurorack format with a look reminiscent of large format Moog Modulars.

DreamsOfWires - Korg Odyssey & Mersenne in the garden...
Published on Jun 27, 2017 DreamsOfWires
"...for no particular reason, other than it was a nice night, so I'd been sitting out there messing around with Mersenne on the iPad: I found something I liked using it's arpeggiator, so I recorded a couple of takes, tweaking the sounds in real-time, and then decided to bring the Odyssey out there too and lay something simple over the top of it. The Odyssey part is meant to be a little in the background, as I didn't want to drown out the sounds from Mersenne, because it produces some really lovely timbres.
Video footage is of a recent trip to Europe. No technical/gear questions please; I'm a perpetual n00b, and as always it's just intended to be music for music's sake, in the off-chance that someone else might enjoy it. It's not instructional or critical."
