Machinedrum Synthesis for Digitakt
Carl Mikael's Cabinet of Curiosities
Published on Aug 10, 2017
"When I got my first Monomachine and Machinedrum, it was the parameter locks that I was drawn to. And the way the machines only revealed musically tweakable parameters to me, the user.
Since I no longer have the Machinedrum, but am pretty drawn to those digital percussive sounds, I set out to emulate them on the Nord G2. And also integrate the patches for sequencing through the Elektron Digitakt."

Moog-Generated Vocalization Sequence.
Resonant Anvil
Published on Aug 10, 2017
"Order of onset: MOS-LAB Model 15 picks up 64-step sequence from the lower Moog Sub 37. That Sub 37 then adds its own audio to the sequence, patched through the MF-102 Ring Modulator, giving the 'vocal' effect. The second Sub 37 then takes up the sequence through MIDI. The frequency control on the MF-102 is then slowly turned down, then up again. Reverb from Strymon Big Sky. No other inputs. One take. No presets."

The Teenage Engineering Op1 throws in some extra samples recorded from the radio, which I trigger live. The Roland Boutique JP08 and Microkorg are both played live, JP08 is played live via Novation Impulse 49. The Korg Minilogue and Roland JU-06 are both on sequencer duty.
All hardware is sequenced via Mod Step and audio multitracked in Auria Pro. This is truely pushing iPad to its limits."

This update contains several big changes such as support of Audiobus 3 and Ableton Link. Also added new features of using one shot samples and automate pitch shifting, and very convenient option for packing scenes and its samples to single file that you can send to another device or share it with others. RA Sessions: Sandunes - Ever Bridge (intro) / SSP4/Untitled / The Trust
Resident Advisor
Published on Aug 10, 2017
One of India’s leading electronic music artists performs her dazzling live set.
“There are some amazing artists coming out of India,” a woman named Dhwani told us at Magnetic Fields last year.
'There were always a lot of artists—ten years back, 20 years back—but [now] I think they’re getting a platform,' said a woman called Saloni.
It’s likely they were both referring to artists like Sanaya Ardeshir, who makes music under the name Sandunes. Ardeshir is part of a gradually swelling wave of Indian artists whose success locally is beginning to translate internationally. She produces and performs a highly engaging style of electronica that blends elements of UK club music with influences from her homeland. A track like “Crystal Pink,” which appeared on her 2016 album DOWNSTREAM, is a good introduction to her sound. Ardeshir intuitively sculpts the arrangement, building a series of subtle climaxes through soaring synth harmonies, while the drums rattle and fizz underneath.
Beyond the Sandunes project, she’s also built her profile through a series of collaborations. Ardeshir plays synths for the popular group Dualist Inquiry, and has worked with the famed Indian rock band Indus Creed. She’s also involved with Different Trains 1947, an upcoming project led by Actress that commemorates the 70th anniversary of India’s independence. They’ll perform at Liverpool’s Edge Hill railway station, the Barbican in London and the 2017 edition of Magnetic Fields.
We’d guess the thing that’s really drawn people to Sandunes is her live performances. Ardeshir has been playing piano since she was a child, and you can sense how natural she is in front of keys during this RA Session. The 15-minute set is made up of “Ever Bridge,” “SSP4/Untitled” and “The Trust,” a string of old, new and revised music.

SYNTHBLOCKS: Analogue Solutions MR. HYDE Audio Demo #1
rezfilter
Published on Aug 9, 2017
Demo with Sequential Circuits Pro-One.
"Here are a few preliminary audio examples of Mr Hyde -- the first in a new series of ‘synthBlocks’.
These are small table top effects processor, and later synthesisers and sequencers. Designed by renowned UK synth designers Analogue Solutions who have over 24 years in the industry.
Mr Hyde is an analogue filter effects box use for subtle to extreme filtering and modulation effects.
SynthBlocks are used to process any sound that you feed into it from your DAW, Mixer or some musical instrument (with prior pre-amplification where necessary). To give your plug-ins some real analogue hardware life.
Mr Hyde has 1/4” input and output jacks on the rear, so it can be connector straight to a mixer or DAW audio interface without the need for adaptors.
On the top panel are mini jack sockets to patch with a semi-modular synth, such as AS’s very own Fusebox, or to Eurorack and other modular systems.
Mr Hyde can change the sound in subtle ways, such as nice sweeping filtering, right up to mangled FM mayhem!
Designed, engineered, and hand built in England.
Further synthBlocks are already in development including Dr. Strangelove, who will be with us soon!
Spec –
Multimode 12db analogue filter, featuring Low pass, High pass, Band pass, and Notch filters.
Resonance with Boost feature to make it self oscillate.
LFO with Triangle and Square wave signals.
Range switch, to bring the modulation speed into audio frequencies.
1/4” and mini jack sockets for audio / CV input and output.
Small compact desktop site format. Will fit into your palm!
Exceptional build quality.
More to come!"

Desktop Hardware Version of SERUM in the works?
The top image is via @deadmau5 who mentions, "yeah yeah... you guys keep your skins :P"
The bottom image is of SERUM via XfferRecords (you can find previous posts featuring video demos of SERUM in the archives). You should be able to see the similarities between the hardware and software. The following is a quick recap on the software."The dream synthesizer did not seem to exist: a wavetable synthesizer with a truly high-quality sound, visual and creative workflow-oriented interface to make creating and altering sounds fun instead of tedious, and the ability to “go deep” when desired - to create / import / edit / morph wavetables, and manipulate these on playback in real-time.
IMPORT YOUR OWN AUDIO / CREATE CUSTOM WAVETABLES WITH EASE
Serum has a Wavetable editor built right in- you can create your own wavetables in a variety of ways. Import audio directly from audio files - Serum has a variety of methods and options for analyzing audio for breaking it apart into individual waveforms. You can import single-cycle wavetables of course, as well as many at once (with in-built sorting options, or manual re-ordering). Morph between various wavetables using standard linear interpolation (crossfading) or via harmonic/spectral morphing. Draw directly on the waveform, with optional grid-size snapping and a variety of shape tools. Generate or modify waveforms using FFT (additive). Create or process waveforms using formula functions. Processing menu options allow you to do the other tasks you would want, such as apply fades, crossfades, normalize, export, and much more..."
P.S. I created a new "Teasers" label for these moving forward. It's hard to believe I didn't see the need to create one before now... I added the label to the recent Behringer MS-101 post. Sometimes they are teasers, sometimes they are leaks. The label will apply to any gear not officially released.

KICK_ME SNAZZY’S FIRST STEP INTO THE WORLD OF DRUM MODULES is two kicks in one: KICK A is pitch controllable and with 4 tweakable parameters can create a wide variety of kick styles, from tight rock kicks to blown out techno bass drums + KICK B features control of decay designed for MAXIMUM SUB-BASS.
KITTY EYES SNAZZY FX LOVES CHAOS. No, not chaos in the sense of everything going crazy, but chaos in the natural systems, dripping faucets, fractal sense. Kitty Eyes has most of the features of our bigger chaos modules but with a lower price and footprint. PURRFECT FOR EXPERIMENTING.
THE ETERNAL SPRING FILTER SNAZZY SAYS: ' WEIRD filter of my own design (not based on anything classic). Think of it as a character filter --- quite intense at some settings, while nice and acidic at others. Doesn't sound like any other filter I own...Adds harmonics in some regions while removing others. Has interesting non-linearity in the Q section which allows for instability, even chaos at some settings ! '
HI_GAIN Enter a world of trash. A world of scraping hi-hats, smashed up kicks, beautiful clipped white noise, broken file cabinets, disused railway cars...The HI_GAIN was designed to create noise, to pump up the hiss, to boost asymmetrical happiness for super acidic bass lines and more. Like other Snazzy FX modules, the HI_GAIN encourages play with capital P - cross couple/feedback/mix outputs/send CV. Repeat.
DUAL MULTIPLIER For quick creation of varied timbres, Snazzy's four quadrant multiplier is similar to the classic ring modulator with attenuation control over all four inputs, giving you tweakability to create a variety of effects: tremolo, pitched noise, vca capabilities, spectral shifts in vocal samples, analog computing patches +++

PPG Infinite Now Available
PPG Infinite has been released. You can find previous posts featuring demos here, and walkthrough videos from creator Wolfgang Palm himself, here.
Details via iTunes:
PPG Infinite - Wolfgang Palm
"At the end of the 70s Wolfgang Palm developed wavetable synthesis. This was very successful and used by many synthesizer companies in the 80s and 90s. But this technology has its limitations. The main reason is that all sounds are harmonic. In nature this does not happen very often. Many sounds like a piano string have small offsets from the harmonic frequencies. This is even stronger in sounds like bells or percussion.
Infinite overcomes this limitation.

via Landscape:
"STEREO FIELD is one instrument with three uses. It is simultaneously a stereo/quad modular touch plate synthesizer, a stereo/quad audio processor and a pressure sensitive chaotic CV controller. All three uses are available separately as well as simultaneously and in conversation with each other. The Stereo Field allows its user to manipulate and patch two analog stereo circuits via touch plates. By utilizing skin conductivity as new paths for current to follow you are creating new circuits and new sounds in relation to where your fingers are patching. The individual touch plates are directly connected to nearly every connection point of every component in its circuitry (located directly under each corresponding touch plate). When touched with multiple fingers it will create atonal analog synthesized audio with either of the two mirrored circuits represented by interlocking touch-plate circles. These parallel mirrored circuits can be finger patched separately or together yielding vastly different results in regards to texture, timbre and stereo imaging. This instrument has the ability to create atonal synth tones in stereo (and quad) as well as process incoming stereo audio (and quad) sources via 1/4" and 3.5mm ins and outs. Incoming audio sources can be "patched" or rewoven into any area of either or both of the circuits via skin contact. The two stereo input volume knobs (center) shape and effect distortion, drive amounts, internal feedback pitch, and modulation rates depending on how your fingers are patching. The quad inputs and outputs via the 3.5mm jacks have small touch plates leading to and from allowing for touch access of each of the 4 inputs and 4 outputs. If multiple audio signals are traveling into the Stereo Field these audio sources can be intermingled and can modulate one another, again depending upon where your fingers are patching. Sending CV signals into the 3.5mm input jacks will open up many more possibilities both in terms of synthesized sounds and audio processing. The Stereo Field can also be used as a controlled chaos source when using the 3.5mm outputs to send CV to your modular system. Due to the nature of feedback and finger patching the 4 available CV signals have the ability to get incredibly complex and textured in nature (see audio examples below in use with a euro-rack system). Because of the open nature of Stereo Field it can both send and receive CV modulation simultaneously. In addition, this can all be happening while your finger patching is changing and altering the incoming and outgoing CV while also processing incoming audio. These ins and outs can also be patched together with cables for sustained tones with the pitch/rhythm/volume/"cutoff" being affected by adjusting the incoming and outgoing volume knobs in various settings. Inter-patching in this way will also allow for sustained pulse beats and filter-esk sound shaping in addition to bringing new results to finger patching via the touch plates. Most importantly, processed audio and synthesized audio are available simultaneously with the ability to influence and modulate each other. This will often blur the lines between the two; who is manipulating who? who comes out on top as audio and who is modulation? This can be a constantly evolving cycle based upon where the performers fingers are placed and highly sensitive skin contact pressure changes.

"Up for sale is a (1) very rare Fénix II modular synthesizer, built by the original 1973 - 1989 Synton team. The synthesizer is in good working condition and sounds amazing! Cosmetically it's in near mint condition with only some minor scratches on the wooden side panels, around the sequencer cv output socket the metal is been damaged a bit, and there's very little wear and tear on the knobs and case (see photo's). Overall it's a beauty instrument which deserve a good new home. Only 75 units were built and this is one of them.
It's complete with a lot of banana patch cables in different colors, owner's manual, power supply with European plug installed and two original spare part kits. It's working on 230V. The serial number is: FénixII-18-R1."
