"Absolutely perfect condition Creamware Pro-12 synth. Everything works as it should and it sounds fantastic. I've A/B this against my own Prophet-5 (rev 3.2) and it's so close you can hardly tell the difference in my opinion. Each knob sends a receives CC so you can also use this to program VSTi Prophet software instruments. Great effects built-in. 12-voice poly, or 6-voice unison with detune, or stack all 12 voices for monster unison. "

ALFA R AS3394E - mP Controllable Synthesizer Voice on a Chip

via ALFA R

"The AS3394E is a complete analog music synthesizer voice-on-a-chip intended for software control by a microprocessor system. Included inside the compact 24 pin package is fully temperature compensated, wide range, voltage controlled oscillator providing suboscillator, triangle, sawtooth, and pulse waveforms; a voltage controlled mixer for adjusting the balance between the internally generated VCO waveforms and any external signal; a dedicated four-pole low-pass voltage controlled filter with voltage controlled resonance; a modulation amount VCA for modulating the filter frequency by the triangle waveform output of the VCO; and a final VCA for allowing the output to be enveloped. Envelope control for both the VCF and final VCA may be provided by either a hardware envelope generator such as the AS3310 or through software.

Ranging between -4 and +4 volts, all eight control inputs are provided with internal very high input impedance, low bias current buffers. Thus interface to a microprocessor system may be accomplished simply with a single DAC, 4051-type CMOS multiplexer, and 8 hold capacitors.

Requiring a bare minimum of other external components, the AS3394E is ideal for polyphonic or polytimbric musical instruments featuring rich, analog sound.

FEATURES

- Complete synthesizer Voice on a Chip
- Sample & Hold buffers on-chip for easy interface to a uP
- Fully temperature compensated VCO
- Independently selectable VCO waveforms
- Suboscillator output
- Separate saw output
- Separate vco and filter sections allowing design flexibility
- Constant Loudness vs Resonance VCF
- Rich Sounding VCF Design
- Filter FM routing for more Timbres
- Low Noise, Low Feedthrough VCA
- Few External Components"

New Chase Bliss Blooper Looper

Published on Mar 5, 2019 Knobs

Currently on Kickstarter

"In January of 2018, shortly after the Winter NAMM show, my friend Knobs and I were on a plane to San Francisco. It's difficult to describe the feelings surrounding the immediate aftermath of a NAMM show, but we are a bit loony. We were also excited because we were going to visit one of our favorite musicians, Tycho (this trip yielded this video). Throughout the flight, Knobs kept talking about how there were no loopers out there that fit his needs, and at some point in the flight we just looked at each other and said, "Should we make a looper together?" We began working on the concept immediately.

A few months later, we enlisted the help of DSP code guru Mark Seel of 3 Degrees Audio to help fully realize the radical ideas that Knobs had. Several months later we added Parker Coons (former DOD / Digitech engineer) to help with hardware design and to provide general engineering support.

In January of 2019, one year after the idea was originally conceived, we found ourselves at a crossroads. We had worked tirelessly to demonstrate our ideas and to develop a physical prototype to show at the Winter NAMM show. Getting the hardware in its first iteration was a photo finish with the start of the tradeshow. We had our prototype and we had our booth, but there was just one problem... the prototype just kind of sucked. We knew it had promise, of course, but our original ideas just did not translate well when we finally actually had the thing in front of us.

So, we decided to do something a little risky, and a little weird. We decided to show the prototype anyway, and just tell people right there at the show what we felt was wrong with it. Then, we decided to document our progress on the device, and gather feedback from other musicians both at the NAMM show and through online comments of our YouTube videos.

Of course we don't expect everyone to actually watch all of this stuff so here is what we believe to be the most exciting features about blooper:

40 seconds max loop time (48kHz, 16 bit) with ultra-low-noise hardware / XMOS DSP processor, 32 save-able presets and full undo / redo capability

8 layers of undo / redo, unlimited overdubs (oldest layer gets discarded after 8)

Layers knob to navigate through undo / redo layers

6 loop modifiers (quantized & free time/speed changes, scrambler, trimmer, filter and dropper) available over 2 independent channels

Normal, additive (effects get recorded), and one-shot sampling modes

Full midi implementation via 1/4" TRS

Repeats knob for fading loops or to use blooper like a tap-tempo delay

CV clock sync and modulation control

Stability control introducing optional tape and warble effects to loop.

Chase Bliss ramping control (including randomization and ability to sync to loop time)

Expression control over any parameter either individually or simultaneously

Dip-switches for customizing behavior: dry kill, straight to overdub, etc.

In closing, thank you so much for all of your support and feedback so far. This has largely been a community driven project, and feels especially appropriate for Kickstarter. We are targeting a release / ship date of Thursday, December 12th so that bloopers are safely received by Christmas / Winter Holidays."

GliGli and Behringer Announce Partnership

First Fingersonic's Luigi Scarano, then Korg's Hiroaki Nishijima, now GliGli has joined Behringer.

This one was spotted and sent in via Soviet Space Child.

“GliGli and Behringer announced today that they have entered into a collaboration to develop classic analog synthesizers.

Fabrice, aka. GliGli stated: 'Behringer reached out to me to help them bring iconic synthesizers back to life. For many years it has been my passion to create a much improved firmware for the Sequential P-600 and to design my own poly synth projects. Uli’s synthesizer Vision provides a fantastic opportunity for me to contribute to the re-imaging of some of the best synthesizer designs from the 1970’s, and to make them accessible to everyone - a Vision I profoundly believe in and want to be part of.'

GliGli continues: 'My goal with P600fw was to have the vintage polysynth of my dreams. I used my computer science and electronics knowledge to make something that was both easy to install, capable of getting the most out of the analog hardware and most of all, fun to make!'

Uli Behringer, Founder of Behringer and Music Tribe commented: 'It’s an honor to have GliGli on our team - Fabrice is an amazing synth designer and I am so proud that we could win him for our ambitious Vision.

Ever since I designed my own synthesizer in 1977, I have been passionate about synthesizers and today, Behringer is on a mission to bring back classic synthesizers as well as design completely new instruments and make them available at prices everyone can afford. We at Behringer believe that everyone should have access to the amazing synthesizers and sounds of the 70’s and 80’s.'

Uli continues: 'This partnership also demonstrates that we welcome collaborations with boutique manufacturers as we believe we can perfectly coexist and complement each other. We are currently recruiting 70 experienced synth engineers from all over the world to join us in our synthesizer mission. People interested can directly contact me at uli.behringer@musictribe.com.'”

New ENVISION SOUND - Strata Ableton Live Controller

Strata - Prototype Demos

Strata - Quick Start Demos [Beta]

via Isotonik Studios:

"KICKSTARTER LAUNCHES OCTOBER [$500 USD]

Over the past few yerar i've lost count of the number of times people have suggested that Isotonik gets into the controller business. I've always wondered whether the truly perfect controller could ever exist with the amount of times that I change my mind and performance template.

But then maybe i've not been approaching it in the right way, what if there was a controller that focused on the functionality of Ableton Live rather than on my specific performance?

That's where Strata comes in, a brand new Ableton Live Controller that's due to launch on Kickstarter in October. I've seen many controllers launch and fail on the platform but i hope this ones different and thought i'd share it with you at this early stage to give the guys behind it as much as a chance of success as i can and so here's some words of introduction from Galen Farrel the driving force behind the project...

BLCK_NOIR: 1 year after release, documentary about photo-shooting w/ Julia Bondar

Published on Sep 6, 2019 TheEndorphines

"It is exactly 1 year since we've released BLCK_NOIR - 7 voices drum modules with effects and filter.
We took a risk by choosing these peculiar and not a mainstream sounds for this machine. It is on the edge!
We are grateful to each musician who took this risk with us by getting our product!
Now we can trace changes which Blck Noir made on us during its development so did on the musicians and their live performance approaches.
We made electronic beat sounds different and recognizable. We increased the number of available effects twice. And we still have more ideas for new updates.
Here is a small documentary video from backstage shooting the photo session before Superbooth'19 module's announce.
Each Endorphin.es product through its history has a character, the look, which we want to convey through photography and cinematography.
Initial #BLCK_NOIR inspiration came from the dark/minimal wave music. So going back into the roots of that style, it was derived from the basically gothic-rock scene with electronic, industrial and neo-romantic influences. That music is characterized by gloomy, atmospheric, minor sound with expressive, melancholic or even theatrical vocal. Usually deliberate 'split personality' of the vocalist, playing on the contrasts. Such records are usually supplied with conceptual photo-sets, starting from the 80s for example from Dead Can Dance. We can observe similarities in other music styles like metal or gothic-rock. That was exactly what we needed, as we wanted to picture Julia in a raw, unedited, analog way.
Music by: Julia Bondar - Intermezzo (from BLCK NOIR album which was released 1 year and a week ago: http://juliabondar.bandcamp.com, https://www.youtube.com/JuliaBondar)."

Initially, Fleurs Du Mal was made as a track to taste newly released electronic drum synthesizer Endorphin.es - Blck_Noir. Lyrics were written later, inspired by french Charles Baudelaire's - Les Fleurs Du Mal poetry. The full composition is made on a modular synthesizer."

via this auction

"Korg Poly-Ensemble S string synthesizer, produced between 1976-1979. This is a divide down/Paraphonic synth, meaning that every key can be played at the same time, however they all share the same FX/filtering. The Poly-S has a number of voices, from Organ, Brass, Strings, Choirs, with a built-in Phaser FX unit. It's an incredibly unique, and lush sounding synthesizer. This particular unit seems to be in working condition, it does have some scratch in the volume pot/knob, and the large buttons that select the voices have a bit of scratch to them. A few of the buttons for the voices get temperamental on occasion, but have never stopped working completely. It probably needs a good cleaning. Also, the power light has never worked since I've owned it, meaning I purchased it as such around 12 years ago. Also, the 'male' end on the power chord is missing some covering, see the photos for what I mean. This hasn't affected the unit in any way that I can tell. One of the keys on the keybed has a visible crack in it, but was fixed a number of years ago with some super glue, again, see the photos for a better understanding of the condition. Lastly, the case/road case has a lot of wear on it, makes sense given the age of the instrument..."

"Here is an original Emu Emulator II + (plus) with dual floppy disks (all working). As seen in Ferris Beuller's day off. Probably most famously used by Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, and so many others! Amazing digital sound mixed with analog filters. Wow!

Introduced in 1985 at a "low" price of $9995 ($23,832.97 for inflation!). It bridged the gap between the $60,000 Fairlight and Synclavier and the $1695 Mirage.

The Plus model

Everything is original and functions great across the board. Has been stored in dry, moderate temperature, smoke-free studio for many many years.

Comes with original owners manual and 20 or so disks (photo incoming), which includes original Emu disks, Northstar, copies, bootlegs, and custom made disks.

Loaded with v.3.0 software.

Cosmetically everything is in good shape with some minor scratches, but nothing major on the body. Keyboard has a broken but fixed key, and slightly cock-eyed lowest key, which has been that way in the 10+. Despite that all keys play and trigger great."

Ensoniq ESQ'M - Is It The Most Boring Synth Ever? No!

Published on Sep 6, 2019 Espen Kraft

"Someone told me recently that the Ensoniq ESQ'1 was the most boring synth ever. Therefor I revisit this synth to check if it's true.

A big thanks to Anders Enger Jensen for lending out his near mint ESQ'M to me for this demo. Thanks my friend! :)

The Ensoniq ESQ'1 and ESQ'M are digital/analog hybrid synths, digital oscillators/waveforms and analog filter.
Together with the Korg DW-8000 and the Kawai K3 they were the closest you could get to a PPG without brealing the bank back in the mid- to late 80s.

3 Oscillators per voice with 32 different waveforms to pick from. Extensive modulation routing possibilities and both AM and Oscillator Sync makes this a very complex synth and it gives any production a great set of textures to choose from.

When I test out a synth, I check if it's a synth that can add texture, spice and edge to my more commercial mid-80s synthpop sound. I'm not after industrial, overly dark or experimental adds to my productions. All my demos must be experienced with that in mind. If you're after bleeding resonance, spikes or Trent Reznor'ish soundscapes, you will not find that here. ;-)"
