Sequential Six-Trak | Fun as a Prophet!

Espen Kraft

The Sequential Six-Trak from 1984. A kind of mix between the Prophet 5 and the Pro-One in terms of sound. It has lots of other fun features too!

A 6-voice VCO, 3 full ADSRs, a powerful Unison mode, filter resonance (with self oscillation), poly glide and get this, fully Midi CC equipped. In 1984!
Two 6-track sequencers, the arpeggiator and 2 Stacks where you can stack up any combination of any patches to one super fat sound.
I mean, what more could you want?
You can even send the 6 tracks from the sequencer out as 6 separate midi channels.
Even if I have a controller for my Six-Trak, I prefer to work it without any controller, it's dead easy to use from the synth itself.

My Six-Trak demo song can be found here:"

It has been foretold that the Prophet 6 needs no introduction, and so it has come to pass. But a prophet’s true value is in their message; is your synthesizer rambling on a soap box, or is it predicting the sonic promised land of tomorrow from the darkness of today?

Synthient’s PolyVision sound set for the legendary Prophet 6 takes the message of the Prophets of old and envisions a future where technicians become artists. Its 100 included presets are meant for touching, tasting and embracing, not just hearing. Mix, modify, twist and contort these tones until they are haptically, deliciously, and existentially you… then channel your polyphonic spree into a message for all humankind.

A Prophet 6 without a prophet is, after all, merely a blank scroll seeking a hopeful message; PolyVision will be the inspiration for your revelation… and the instigator of your sonic journey.

We predict it."

Fresh back from a little servicing love, the Roland Juno 106 and RE201 tape echo get back on the bench for a workout.

Based around a simple sequence from Launchpad Pro into the Bass Station 2 (using the marvellous AFX mode) the 106 is feeding loops into the Chase Bliss Blooper pedal. Octatrack holding the rhythm section in check.

Novation Teases New Aphex Twin Collaboration

Apparenlty these billboards are popping up in LA, Berlin, Bristol, and London per CDM.

Click the image to the left to zoom in and find some clues, if they apply that is.

On the left you'll see X-Station. The original X-Station was a controller keyboard with the K-Station engine built in. Note the font below it.

On the right you'll see Osc Filter Mod. Below you'll see Microtuning.

Feel free to see what else you can find.

Aphex Twin also worked with Novation on the AFX Mode Bass Station II and the Warp Records WXAXRXP 30th Anniversary Bass Station II.

Rumor is we'll find out Oct 20.

Here's my latest track "It's Just Time"!

For my fellow synth heads, the bulk of this track is a single Multi split patch I put together on the Novation Summit, with a fat synth bass on the left side and a Prophet 5 inspired polysynth/brass sound on the right - all recorded in one take.

Hydrasynth original performance patches

"This is a selection of performance patches I've created for the AMS Hydrasynth synthesizer. The Hydrasynth is an 8 voice mono-timbral synth. Although it has no sample content, the synth engine is quite versatile. There is an emphasis on performance controls, including the very rare 'polyphonic aftertouch' and 4 octave ribbon controller. My fully original patches make full use of the performance characteristics as demonstrated in this video. These patches are a radical departure from the factory sound-set, demonstrating the versatility of the synth engine, along with the various performance controls. This video is performance demonstration only, no talking!"

TINRS Fenix IV + Gameboy + Circuit bent NAVA = ❤

Making Sound Machines

"TINRS Fenix IV + Nintendo Gameboy + Circuit bent NAVA = ❤️ This patch brings together so many things we love: our original UGB Nintendo Gameboy running 8bit bleeps with nanoloop, our circuit bent elicktronic NAVA TR909 clone and the insane bag of tricknology that is This is Not Rocket Science's Fenix IV modular synth in-a-box! The NAVA is an exact copy of the famous Roland TR909 circuits, hacked by us with 34 mods to vastly expand the sonic palette of the instrument, and processed through our Eurorack using the serge wave multiplier on kick and the cre8audio chipz on claps for more oomph. The bassline is the lovely FM mode of the TINRS Fenix' digital oscillator, run through the stereo digital filter (honestly the best I've ever heard - Stijn, Lauri, you need to make this a module) and modulated with the wobbler complex LFO. The nintendo Gameboy is clocking the Fenix sequencer, processed through two VCAs and then mangled through the Fenix' stereo delay - a lot of the lovely pitch sweeps and groovy sixteenth note runs spring into existence in this awesome submodule. Finally, big thank you klanggenerator for selling us the NAVA case! We had to drill some extra holes in it :)"

One of Korg's first polyphonic instruments, very unusually for a 70s paraphonic/polyphonic synth from the 70s it has a separate oscillator per key. This makes it sound richer since detuning between octaves is possible using the Pitch Expand knob. It has seven preset sounds: String, Pipe Organ, Brass, Piano, Electric Piano, Harpsichord and Clavichord, plus an eighth preset "Control" is a free synth mode with a selection of square or sawtooth waveforms.

In great cosmetic condition with very few signs of age to the face. The case has some scuffs to the edges and corners but nothing too major

Mutable Instruments Introduces New Compact Slider Version of Veils

via Mutable Instruments

An updated classic

More compact footprint (10-HP), with sliders instead of knobs for the main gain/CV control.
Gain indicator LED.
Positive offset control (0 to 8V) for direct use of bipolar modulation sources.

Veils provides four VCAs with an adjustable response curve and offset control.

Veils’ outputs are daisy-chained, allowing adjacent groups of 2, 3, or all 4 channels to be mixed together.

The cornerstones of modular patches

VCAs are absolutely essential in a modular system, for example for:

Shaping the amplitude or timbre of a tone with an envelope.
Animating a mixture of several oscillators.
Controlling the amount of filter modulation with a random source or a touch controller.
Applying an envelope on the linear FM signal hitting an oscillator.

All inputs DC-coupled.
All inputs handle audio-rate signals.
Input impedance: 100k for all inputs.
Gain scale: a +5V CV translates to a gain of 1 (0dB), both in linear and in exponential mode.
Large gains above +20dB (sufficient for amplifying line-level signals) achievable in exponential mode.
Offset control adding an adjustable voltage from 0 to 8V to the gain CV.

You can find additional posts featuring Veils here.
