ASTROGENIC HALLUCINAUTING - late night noiz for late night fiends

video upload by thenoiztemple

"Another threshold of noiz crossed...500 improvisational noiz sessions. A soundtrack for the denizens of the darkest times of the night. For this session I wanted to show how one of these noiz and video occurrences comes about. Starting with a blank slate on some machines and a bit of environments on others like the norns. The choice of machines and pedals is always evolving so it usually starts as a random convergence of happy accidents. Finally, after all of the noiz is designed...the video aspect is created. In this case the three camera views become the source. Hopefully the viewer can get an idea of how this all evolves. These sessions will continue...possibly not as frequently...but I never know. Noiz addiction is a defining factor. - for more noiz: https://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/as... website: http://manipulate.net This is a series of live noiz and video noiz performances. A continuation of noiz during the persistence of The Plague and now war. #covid19 #coronavirus #isolation #quarantine #spike #omicron #ukraine #war #standwithukraine"

Live Looping the Bastl Softpop 2 with the Elektron Octatrack MK2

video upload by Patchwerks

"In this video Matthew Piecora (aka EZBOT) uses the the Elektron Octatrack Mk2 to live loop the Bastl Softpop 2. Video also includes a tutorial on the Bastl Softpop 2.

Softpop SP2 is a radical subtractive synth under the influence of unconventional digital control. It’s a rare beast that excels at both melody and noise in equal measure. SP2’s favorite sounds include bassline bangers, angelic chord progressions, distorted beats, and water droplets. Softpop also has an external input with enough gain and saturation to process any sound thru the filter and VCA.

The heart of SP2 is an analog, modular synth replete with lush tones and a chaotic disposition. Its brain is a complex digital sequencer and quantizer that brings (some) order to the chaos. The analog heart and the digital brain support each other while also pushing their behaviors out of normal routines in surprising ways.

The string machine ensemble effect: Dr. Böhm Phasing Rotor VS Wersi Wersivoice WV7

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
video upload by Ohm. Studio

"The Wersi in the video is for sale. [listed on eBay here]

Here is a comparison between two very similar BBD triple choruses, AKA ensemble effect: The Dr. Böhm Phasing Rotor 79 (which I demoed extensively in a previous video with a Multivox MX-202, a Crumar Stringman and a Roland Jupiter 4) and the Wersivoice WV7. The Böhm has some more variations but the chorus sound (ie ensemble effect) is very similar. Circuit are almost 100% identical. I also own a Wersi Wersivoice FM76 which is the updated and standalone version of the Wersi WV7 and sound even closer to the Böhm.

I used a Welson Keyboard Orchestra to demo the two units. I made another video with the Wersivoice alone with a Sequential prophet 6 in order to show how easily you can turn any synthesizer into a string machine with these units."

via this auction

"Vintage analog triple chorus effect unit, based on 3x Philips TDA1022 Bucket Brigade Device chipset and of classic ARP Eminent Solina design. Turns anything into a great sounding string machine.

It offers Vibrato (slow and fast) and Chorus (the ensemble effect) with 3 variations of depth (« weak » and « strong » switch and both together).

It is almost the same circuit as the Dr. Böhm Phasing Rotor I also built, with less variations. But the ensemble effect does sound identical."

"There are some notable scuffs around the wood grain of the synth. Some of the keys are slightly stained as well and its sort of hard to read the labels of the controls. Otherwise, each knob and key is perfectly intact and ready for use. The overall physical condition is very good."

via this auction, also on Reverb

"This listing is for a Vintage Moog Minimoog Model D Analog Synthesizer w/ Moog Case. We are selling this Minimoog for the original owner who bought it brand new in 1980-81. He said that he went into his favorite music store and they said that he needed to get it as it was going to be the last one they will get as Minimoog's were being discontinued. So this is one of the last production models of this classic synth!"

Berlin School 960 Sequencer - Step Inputs/Outputs

video upload by O.Z. Hall

"This demo shows how to use the step inputs and outputs to control which steps in the sequence are played. This is a classic Tangerine Dream technique to break the monotony of playing the same 8 steps repeatedly.
I'm using the Swiss Daisy DSP as a virtual analog voice with delay. The controls I'm adjusting are the wet/dry mix, the envelop to VCF amount and the VCF cutooff frequency.
The simplest example of using the step in/out would be to take the step out from step 5 and connect it to the step in on step 1. This would result in the first four steps being played. (i.e. a reset to change the sequence length from 8 to 4 steps).
In order to quickly repatch to select the step out and step in, I have used a dual 4:1 selector switch, the Frequency Central 'Where" module:
https://synthcube.com/cart/frequencyc...
(no, I'm not paid for this link).
The top switch selects the beginning step; the bottom the ending step.
If the ending step number is BEFORE the beginning step number, the sequence skips the "ending" note and jumps (forward) to the "beginning" note.
One other wrinkle, the "step out" stays high for the entire step duration. I have turned this 100% "gate" into a trigger by running it through an A/D envelope.
One other note, I'm using row three to adjust volumes at each step."

Hardware Jams Weekend Challenge: From Scratch in C Aeolian (wonky timing)

video upload by SynthAddict

"Hardware Jams Weekend Challenge: From Scratch
(no pre-made seqs allowed) in C Aeolian

Timing gets a little wonky, and this is take 8, so I left it like a live concert with lots of imperfections (including the timing).
Some parts were a bit polymetric, but some polyrhythm creeps in there too. :-P

Gives it a weird time-shifted feel as parts go in and out of sync.
It might drive you a little crazy...

video upload by Stereoping

"Funny result while learning to work with the Arturia #keystep pro. Each VCO of the #2600 is controlled by it's own Keystep track (VCO 2&3 by CV) and playing individual melody lines through 8 patterns. 4th track going to the #NordDrum2 being realtime controlled with two Synth Controllers. Main drums from a midisynced DIY-808 with manually switched pattern. Song one of three."

Just a teaser pic and low-res render below for now, but there you have it.

Make Noise Maths // Patch Tips #1

video upload by Robots Are Red

"Maths is not the ultimate utility just because it can do almost anything, it's because it can do almost anything AND have left over functionality, making it the ultimate multi-utility.

In this video we look at 6 different uses for the immensely popular Maths by Make Noise, and break down the patches.
1. Bipolar LFO (+/-5v)
2. Burst Generator
3. Tremolo
4. Low Pass Gate
5. Dynamic Slew (The patch diagram shows an even more dynamic patch)
6. Sequence Offset
And then some music of course.

And when patching, don't forget to utilize all the CV inputs for maximum manipulation!"

"This vintage AX60 is fully functional and in very good condition. Recently serviced by Switched On and sounds great!

The AX60 is among some of the last true analog polysynths of the mid-eighties. It was Akai's answer to the hugely successful Roland Juno series and Yamaha's new digital DX-series. The AX60 is a programmable six-voice synth with a nice LFO, lowpass (VCF) filter, envelope sections, and more. An eight-voice version, the AX80, was already available.

Programming this synth is easy using dedicated sliders, knobs and/or buttons for its parameters. It also has a useful noise generator and some other cool functions that include auto-tuning, chorus, a multi-mode arpeggiator and a keyboard that can be split into two key-zones, making it somewhat bi-timbral. All six voices can be stacked in unison mode for a powerful and thick lead sound. Its features and sound make the AX60 a worthy alternative to Roland's Juno 106."

"Regardless of being the vintage 70s original issue or this Tom Oberheim remake the sound truly speaks for itself – and the SEM filter would in my personal desert island test beat the Minimoog Ladder by a hair. This is the rarest of all TVS's and only around 100 was made. Unofficial sources say that the actual number is closer to 50. Theses come on sale (if they ever does) once or twice a year so here's the rare chance to get your hands on one. The synth is in absolutely mint condition and has no flaws to find anyway."
