Meditative infinite reflection pool - 1010music Lemondrop, TX-6, Monome norns “pixels”

video upload by Arman Bohn

"Floating in the ether. My script 'pixels' sends out some vibes in G Phrygian. The notes being determined by the graphics. The 1010music Lemondrop granulates the live input from the norns. The TX-6 mixes it all.

I’ve really enjoyed the lemondrop more lately. That’s great it turning things into swirly soundscapes."

Qithesizer - Powerful Multi-Engine Hybrid Software Synthesizer

video upload by Robkoo Official

Press release follows:

Robkoo releases Qithesizer as advanced hybrid soft synth designed to work with wind controllers like the Chinese company’s cyber-like Wind Synthesizer R1

SHANGHAI, CHINA: digital art-facilitating software and hardware company Robkoo is proud to announce availability of Qithesizer as an advanced multi-engine hybrid software synthesizer for iPad, iPhone, and Mac (AUv3) — creatively combining physical modelling, virtual analogue, and wavetable synthesis, while working wonderfully with MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) wind controllers like the Chinese company’s critically-acclaimed Wind Synthesizer R1 (https://official.robkoo.com/#/wind-synthesizer-r1), and, obviously, others also available from various competing sources such as Akai and Roland, for instance — as of June 30…

An appropriate name choice can quickly play a part in helping shape an appreciation for a new product, something Robkoo readily appreciates by effectively combining Qi (气) — commonly known as the circulating life force whose existence and properties are the basis of much Chinese philosophy and medicine, originating from the mandarin dialect and translating to English as air or breath — with elements of synthesizer — typically defined as an electronic musical instrument producing a wide variety of sounds by generating and combining signals of different frequencies — to create Qithesizer.

Working with wind controllers like Robkoo’s revolutionary Wind Synthesizer R1 — released last year to widespread critical acclaim as a futuristic, cyber-like MIDI wind controller instrument with responsive RGB light bars, motion control, Bluetooth® connectivity, customisable hotkeys, onboard sound banks, and a dedicated app allowing amateur and professional players alike to directly (and literally) light up their performances to audiences for the first time in history, having mastered its intuitive panel design in a matter of minutes and achieved gig-readiness within weeks of first musically making its acquaintance — and, obviously, others also available from various competing sources such as Akai and Roland, for instance, is integral to the design ethos that brought about Qithesizer as the digital art-facilitating software and hardware company’s latest product. Providing users with the possibility of mapping their MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) hardware controller of choice to any Qithesizer parameter to facilitate real-time dynamic effects, enabling MIDI Learn synchronises all displays with their performance. Perhaps this move may well go some way towards securing Qithesizer a firm foothold in an already- oversaturated marketplace. But by creatively combining various synthesis technologies — to include physical modelling (with multiple physical models), virtual analogue (with basic waveforms), and wavetables (with hundreds of digital waveforms) — to form a powerful multi-engine hybrid software synthesizer with waveform and dynamic visualisations, bolstered by a 16-step SEQ (sequencer) section with a powerful pattern editor, Qithesizer clearly has what it takes to hold its own, no matter what.

With two wavetable OSCILLATORS, four physical MODELING instruments, three NOISE generators, three classic FILTER types, two (FILTER and AMP) ENVELOPES, and two Low Frequency Oscillators (LFO1 and LFO2), plus a well-specified MODULATORS section — with eight modulation slots, 11 sources, and 18 destinations — to its name, there is much scope for crafting original sounds with Qithesizer. No need, necessarily, to rely heavily on any prior synth-centric knowledge since Qithesizer, of course, comes complete with an extensive Factory library of pre-programmed patches.

Put it this way: while Qithesizer positively encourages experimentation by effectively rolling its multiple sound engines into one easy-to-use interface, it also brings the same level of sound design and portability — playing the onscreen keyboard means that there is no need, necessarily, to work with any external MIDI hardware controllers — to Apple’s iPad and iPhone; its compatibility with AUv3 — itself a newer version of the AU (Audio Units) plug-in format for Mac with additional features, and the only format currently available on iOS — considerably broadens its already wide-ranging reach and appeal.

Priced at $12.99 USD, Qithesizer is available for iPad (requires iPadOS 15.0 or later) and iPhone (requires iOS 15.0 or later), as well as AUv3 (requires macOS 12.0 or later and a Mac with Apple M1 chip or later), via Apple’s App Store here: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/合成氣/id6444722040

New AtomoSynth Tottem Drumsynth Eurorack Module

video upload by Atomosynth

"Hello World this is the new AtomoSynth Tottem eurorack module. It is a four-voice drum synthesizer, with all analog sound."

via AtomoSynth

We are proud to introduce our new eurorack module, the Tottem version 2. Our legendary drum synthesizer comes back this time with four independent, all-analog percussion synth voices. Two of them feature a full percussion synth with triangle and square wave oscillator, an envelope for the “sweep” effect, one modulator with triangle and square wave as well as noise, also a decay envelope for the overall volume contour. These are very flexible generating from powerful bass drums, toms, clicks, all the way to “laser gun” and weird glitch sounds. The other two voices feature an oscillator with “metal” and square wave, a white noise generator, a mixer, and also a decay envelope. These are great to produce metallic sounds like hi-hats, crashes, cymbals, clicks, beeps, and all craziness in between. Combining the two synth voice types you can expand the possibilities even further for more complex sounds. Finally an output mixer with individual level controls and outputs for each voice and a master output. The new Tottem produces a “raw” organic character sound, that does not emulate any drum machine and stands apart from the very polished and over-processed digital drum synthesizers and samplers, giving you a new sound to enrich your percussion palette.

Pharmasonic Model 101

Reasons to love your Pharmasonic 101 video upload by Tokyo-Noise

1. Fully reproduce the sounds of Roland System 100 Model 101.

2. There’s something about white synths.

3. PWM, noise, glide.

4. Timbrality. OMG those filters and VCO.

5. Sub oscillator 0, -1, -2 octaves.

6. HPF.

7. DIY.

8. Price: with the hype of new synths every month/week, prices for this serie have dropped down. I’m thinking if I should also get the 102 (ring modulator and S&H instead of noise and portamento).

Regarding timbre, my favorite mono synths are: Roland SH series and Arps, followed by Dreadbox, Sequential Circuits, Oberheim SEM, miniKORG 700 and Moogs. Korg MS 20 is a little bit “nasal” for my taste but the architecture is awesome.

"The Pharmasonic 101 really exists and it sounds great. It's a faithful reproduction of Roland System 100 Model 101.

I bought it fully assembled from Pharmasonic this year (2023) and it's only been tested and used for a couple of recordings. Since Pharmasonic seems to be making it again along with the 102 for the Japanese market, I'm selling this hoping I can get another one soon.

Isla Instruments Teases new Caladan Synthesizer

via Isla Instruments

"From now on, I shall be known as...
Muad'Dib

Well, today is a milestone, everything is ready and has been sent off to fabrication to make the first hardware prototypes.

Caladan is (will be) an 8-part multi-timbral polyphonic analog / digital hybrid synthesizer.

We are carrying on the legacy of a fantastic, groundbreaking synthesizer called the 'Parva' by FutureSonus. Building on its DNA, we are putting our own twist on it to make it the perfect partner to the S2400.

Same form factor, same aesthetic (yes, same wood sides if you want)

It will bring polyphonic playback of multi-sampled instruments (SF2, SFZ, +) out of the box.
But the special sauce is the 8x expansion slots inside the case which will allow me to go completely fucking nuts with add-in voicecards.

OPL3, SID, SEM, SH-101, MiniMoog, Pro-1, etc etc... all these flavours can be realised on expansion cards and all accessed by a common UI.

Voicecards can of course be analog OR digital. The intention is to open this side of the synth up to allow 3rd party developers to create cards also.

I'm literally creating MY 'Dream Synth' and I want to take you along for the ride.

First hardware should be here in a few weeks!!

Here's a couple of renders of what the prototype will look like.

FUCKIN YES!!!!!"

"Visit your favorite retailer or click here for more information about Univer Inter: https://bit.ly/42SarJl

Univer Inter is an 8-channel MIDI-to-CV converter, and so much more. It can be configured to send any type of MIDI signal per channel through the UI app at the new-and-improved Noise Engineering Customer Portal. If eight outputs aren't enough, chain two through the TRS jacks on the front panel. Plus UI has a tiny footprint: just 6HP.

The app is easy to use and offers tons of options. We built in handy presets to get you started but if you want to go your own way, we also include over 20 behaviors for CC, note, clocking, polyphony and more. Each output can be configured to send to whatever channel you wish, and build in custom per-output delays as needed.

We'll continue to add behaviors, but we're taking requests too.

If you're looking for a way to bring MIDI into your modular system, you'll be amazed at the flexibility and ease of use of Univer Inter."

NEW! AJH Synth Complete Systems - 6U & 9U Pre-installed Eurorack in Powered Cases

video upload by AJH Synth Official

"In response to demand we are now offering a range of ready built systems! Visit https://ajhsynth.com/Minimod.html for a closer look at what is in each case.

With each size of system we have selected the best combination of modules to give maximum versatility - of course the full configuration has been fully tested and designed for maximum productivity and reliability so that you can concentrate on the most important part of using any modular system - making music!

Putting together a complete Eurorack system from scratch can be quite a daunting prospect, so we have taken the pain out of it for you. Trying to choose the best mix of modules for maximum versatility and arranging them so that there is no unused space is often just the start of the process. We also need to find the power consumption of each module, and then calculate total power draw per rail for the chosen case to ensure the PSU can provide sufficient power without being overloaded. There is also the problem of having audible noise on the power rails from a noisy power supply, which can range from barely noticeable to unacceptable. And we didn't even mention the time it takes to put it all together, then fully testing everything to make sure it is all working as it should.

The AJH SYNTH Eurorack range consists of high-end modules, all hand-made in the UK, most of which are based on classic, vintage designs, authentically recreating the circuitry of much sought-after analogue instruments and technologies of the past, whilst greatly expanding them, and bringing them to modern Eurorack levels of convenience, limitless flexibility, and reliability.

Press Release follows:

"Synclavier Digital releases regenerated Synclavier® II trailblazer as timeless Regen desktop synthesizer bolstered by present-day DSP developments

NOVA SCOTIA, CANADA: soft-launched late last year to widespread critical acclaim at the Synthplex® synthesizer expo and electronic music festival hosted at the Marriott Convention Center in Burbank, CA, USA with pre-orders opening for fulfilment in 2023, timeless synthesis product manufacturer Synclavier Digital is proud to announce wider availability of Regen — released as a desktop synthesizer that is, in short, a real regeneration of New England Digital’s seminal Synclavier® II digital synthesizer that took the pro audio industry by storm when introduced in its initial incarnation in 1980 (evolving beyond that to blaze more technological trails with polyphonic sampling and, ultimately, DAW — Digital Audio Workstation — capabilities well before that term was invented, even), extended and enhanced to take advantage of the increased computing power available today to make it as compelling in a modern setting as the prohibitively pricey original did during its time (finding favour with top-tier film composers, record producers, and recording artists), while the considerable cost and size reductions associated with Regen’s present-day design criteria conversely position it well within reach of (almost) anyone — as of June 29…

"Roland System 100 (modules 101,102,103,104)

All four pieces are VERY close to mint condition; the boxes are in excellent condition.

These items appear to have been stored in a clean, dry, smoke-free location.

The items look to have had minimal/no usage (very low hours) and no signs of wear.

Other than yellowing of the keys and wear on the boxes, no tarnish or oxidation is present.

PLEASE READ!

We acquired these items as part of a real estate sale.

In January 2023 we took the four units to a Service rep. to have them tested and serviced as he deemed necessary. Serious buyers can be given the contact # to the guy who serviced the units so they can discuss the conditions with him, if we are unable to answer questions. He said usage had been very minimal, but its age called for a deep cleaning. He inspected the units, deemed them to be in good shape and tested them. He took all the units apart, performed a multi-step cleaning, re-assembled the units, allowed a 20-minute stabilization, tune mapping, alignment processes, and tracking was done. Units track well alone as well as together. There are no meter drive issues. No repairs were done or needed. It functions as new and also looks very close to mint.

HEARTBEATS - The Knife (BRiES cover) / Schlappi Engineering THREE BODY

video upload by BRiES

"THREE BODY by Schlappi Engineering takes care of 100% of the bass arpeggio in this video (aka the main synth). It's very interesting to be able to get all this grit without losing the ability to turn it down for a less harsh sound and without having to worry about relative pitches of your carrier and modulators. No processing was done to the audio coming from THREE BODY afterwards (apart from some low and mid cut EQ and a smidge of compression).

The sequencing for the bass (and part of the higher pitched arp and hihats) is done with eurorack sequencers, I recorded the main part in one take (which I recorded). The poly synth stabs were created with my own plugin PLL-102 (which you can buy as part of my VST pack 'SYNTHS one' on the Decent Sampler webshop).

There's no play-back going on in this video, everything you see happening was recorded live and used unaltered (apart from gentle eq, some compression and autotune - Melda Productions MPitch - for the vocals).

Your boi BRiES takes care of 100% of the singing (which I autotuned in this version of the upload) so be prepared for some vocal cringe.

I spent most of my birthday recording the audio and video for this cover. It's something that I've been wanting to do for a long time (recording a cover where the main part is taken care of by a eurorack system). The song 'heartbeats' (the José Gonzales version) popped into my head a few days ago and I just had to give it a try.

To whom it may concern:This is a cover of the song 'Heartbeats' by The Knife. This video isn't monetized nor is it sponsored (no one is making money off of this video). All rights to the song and lyrics are reserved to The Knife."

Korg PS-3100 For Sale Meticulously Refurbished by Pro Vintage Synth Restoration Specialists

video upload by tonetweakers

"Here’s the latest Korg PS-3100 we meticulously refurbished and sold to a customer. Just was we were wrapping up its restoration, we bought another, so email us if you're seriously interested in acquiring a PS3100 that's better than the rest. Our restorations are very time consuming and costly, and this is justifiably reflected in our prices.

This 20 minute video shows one of many systematic tests performed over a long period of time to ensure that this complex instrument would be working absolutely perfectly when it left here. We buy, refurbish and sell Korg PS3100 PS3200 PS3300 and most other vintage synthesizers."

D16 Group - Lush 2 (No Talking)

video upload by Elektronick Musick

via d16 Group

More than an 8-trick pony
Lush 2's multilayer architecture gives you access to virtually limitless sound design possibilities and a wide spectrum of applications.

Powerful, yet practical. An easy-to-tweak instrument that helps you find hit sounds in seconds, unleashing its and your maximum potential

Lush 2 isn’t based on just a single machine; it’s built from modules that can be found in many modern virtual synths, combined into one compact, logical layout. Don’t let its looks fool you: though it may look benign at first, its modular, multi-layer architecture takes it beyond simplistic poly-synths to the top shelf of extremely powerful, deeply programmable and devilishly versatile instruments in your arsenal. Suspiciously accurate sound is achieved only through experience: countless hours were spent analyzing classic analogue synthesizers, and then designing and implementing DSP algorithms with close attention to every component in the signal path - not just approximating its overall output. We deliver to you a synth built on oscillators of uncompromising quality, filters with an incredibly natural warmth and character, and best-in-class effects. On top of that, with all of the layers, multi-layer options, and routing capabilities the plugin offers - there’s no end to what you can do with just a single instance of Lush 2

Synthesizer
Lush 2 lets you reach “unheard of” levels of creativity - each layer works as an independent synthesizer with its own polyphony, parameters, enhanced arp, and a choice between 8 of the finest insert effects.

Modulation matrix
An entire page dedicated to assigning your modulation to nearly any parameter - pick a source, pick a destination, set an amount: creative modulation!

Mixer
Lush 2 also comes complete with a powerful built-in mixer, complete with layer-independent parametric equalizers and compressors that can be rearranged. Volume, pan and superb send effects allow you to put the finishing touches on the final output.

nervoussquirrel's Ore-some Volts

via nervoussquirrel

"A Eurorack synthesiser module that generates truly random control voltages, gates and triggers.

Radioactive events from a jar filled with uranium ore can be used to control compositional parameters.

First batch now shipping as of Tuesday 25th April 2023.

A borosilicate glass jar filled with uranium ore is mounted in front of a Geiger counter, which detects ionising radiation emitted by the rocks.

The timings of the radioactive events are mapped to a control voltage output and a number of gate/trigger outputs.

These can be useful to create truly random unpredictable variations in your synth patches.

Features and controls

There is a trigger output that creates a pulse whenever an event is detected, and also a group of six outputs that can be set as either triggers or gates. The group of six outputs are activated again depending on the activity from the ore. A relatively long pause followed by two clicks in quick succession will activate output number 1, for example.

There are three knobs for adjusting the CV output:

RANGE: Sets the range of the voltage from 0 to 10Vpp. Adjust this to create subtle variations or dramatic jumps.

OFFSET: Sets the area in which the control voltage operates. For example, if range is set to max then the offset can be used to set the voltages to operate from -5V to +5V or from 0V to 10V.

GLIDE: Sets the amount of glide between the changes in voltage levels. Set to max and remove the jar to create slowly drifting voltages triggered by background radiation.

The jar is removable, but pushes into place with a fairly tight fit, to prevent it falling out of portable modular systems. The activity of the module changes when the jar is removed. Take care when removing or replacing the jar.

The lid of the jar has been glued shut. Please do not attemp to open the jar - handling/inhaling/swallowing dust or fragments of the ore must be avoided.

A switch has been provided to turn off the internal Geiger counter click.

How it works

The system initially waits for three clicks, and then uses the position of the middle click to set the proportional level of the CV output. For example, if the central click occurs relatively close to the first, the voltage will be lower.

The system then waits for the next click to replace click 3, and re-assigns the previous 2 and 3 to the new 1 and 2.

nervoussquirrel's Conway's Game

via nervoussquirrel

A cellular automaton pattern generator that also functions as a MIDI to trigger converter.

Legendary mathematician John Horton Conway's "Game of Life" algorithm is generated and displayed on the 8x8 LED matrix, with the activity of the cells mapped to the outputs below.

The MIDI input can also be used to control 64 separate trigger outputs.

If you're not familiar with Conway's Game of Life, a brief explanation:

Imagine a grid of cells, each of which can be in two states, either alive or dead. A set of simple rules determine what happens to each cell, depending on the state of neighbouring cells.

For each step in time:

(1) Any live cell with fewer than two live neighbours dies, as if caused by underpopulation.

(2) Any live cell with two or three live neighbours lives on to the next generation.

(3) Any live cell with more than three live neighbours dies, as if by overpopulation.

(4) Any dead cell with exactly three live neighbours becomes a live cell, as if by reproduction.

The module makes use of these rules, applying them to an 8x8 grid of cells.

The generated patterns can then be used as an interesting source of triggers, which may be used to sequence drums, envelope generators, or any other modules with trigger or gate inputs.

After selecting a pseudo-random set of starting conditions for the cells, the simulation will run until the cells either die out, or end in a stable loop. If the cells die out or end in a stationary configuration, the simulation will reset with a new set of starting conditions. Loops can end up as the classic "glider" or "blinker", or more elaborate patterns.

Features and controls

MIDI IN: The module responds to notes ranging from C2 / note 36 to E7 / note 100.

CLOCK IN: By default the internal clock runs at 10Hz, but the clock input allows other sources to set the speed up to about 270Hz. After 270Hz things start getting weird, which of course is not necessarily a bad thing! Run it from any source of gates or triggers - LFO, VCO, or even audio for timing strangeness.

RESET: Clears the current loop and starts with a new set of cells. Also clears stuck MIDI notes if necessary.

MIDI / LIFE: Selects MIDI or Game of Life mode.
