Ran the stereo out from the modular through my Eventide H9 with a Space preset I created for this track. Only compression and normalizing was applied in the DAW. The video is of the patch set up and not the performance."

"This is the first electronic music video of my Minilogue, Monologue and Electribe RMK2 timeclock midi synced. I'm running banks of sequenced beats, freehand playing and live sequence recording. For transitions, I'm utilizing controls like cutoff, delay time, LFO rate, master volume and samples from my Roland SP-404 taken from a 1955 public domain cold virus educational video. I fashioned a tool out of a credit card to hold my pitch shifter handsfree. This is all recorded, mixed down and mastered with my TASCAM DP-24SD Portastudio, video recording was done on a iPhone 7 Plus with a fisheye lens attachment. Edited with Microsoft Movie Maker on an old Toshiba laptop at my cabin in the woods of Bellingham, Washington."

1. 1987 Amiga Deluxe Music Construction Set - Music for Bloom County Contest

"Here's something I dug up today that I haven't thought of in years and figured was loooong gone. In 1987, Bloom County had a contest where you could submit your own original song for Billy & The Boingers, the band in the comic strip. Well, this is what I came up with on my Amiga. A couple of the sounds had gone missing, so I had to replace them with other sounds, but, well, I don't think that matters very much. Needless to say, I didn't win the contest."

"This is an original fugue in D minor more or less in the style of JS Bach that I wrote on my Amiga when I was a teenager, around 1987. It includes the original owner’s manual, service manual and power cable... The digital displays shown in the pictures are actually clear. For some technical reason, the camera setting made them look foggy. I believe it is because they are fluorescent."

"Experimental electronic music ensemble 'Analog On', CD release tonight in TCD #Dublin: … #moog #synth @matrixsynth"

"A public performance followed by a short talk by Analog On, an experimental electronic music ensemble that composes and performs on vintage analogue electronics and modular synthesizers. The group consists of Shauna Caffrey on oscillator, saw and electronics, and Richard Duckworth from the School of Creative Arts at Trinity College Dublin on modular synthesizer and effects.

The Analog On made their debut at the Ideopreneurial Entrephonics II festival at the Freemasons’ Hall in April 2016, and has just finished recording this – their first release – on the iconic Moog System 55 in the cockpit of the Moog Sound Lab at the Tonmeister Studio in Surrey. The aesthetic is that of the time-warp cultist with retro and future aesthetics co-existing in the same cultural and temporal space.

This album is a musical homecoming for Richard Duckworth as he studied analog synthesis under Herb Deutsch at Hofstra University in the 1980s: this is where he was first introduced to the Moog modular system and he spent many hours in the electronic music studio experimenting with voltage-controlled systems. Shauna Louise Caffrey is a musicology major at Trinity College. Her life-long love of experimental soundtrack led her to join Analog On, and since then she has delighted in the creation of 'weird noise' and bizarre soundscapes through mixed media."

What needs to be said about the MiniMoog Model D? It is classic in every sense of the word. Used on countless Albums, in countless genres, the MiniMoog is just a truly fantastic monosynth. When I heard about the reissue, I simply couldn’t resist. I own one of the first 1200 made, and have already spent countless hours playing and recording with it. You can get lost inside of its sonic capabilities. Everything you dial in sounds good. Which is the reason I decided to divide these Ableton Packs and samples into specific goals. People have spent the last 40 years delving into the MiniMoog’s sound canvas, and one can argue its vast combinations can never fully be explored.

For this first pack, I tried different to focus specifically on bass aspects. MiniMoog bass sounds are fat and deep. The detail provided with 3 oscillators is massive. From funky sounds to new wave chorus bass, there’s a MiniMoog Bass sound for any genre that tickles your fancy. With some patches I tried to create some popular MiniMoog bass sounds with my own little twist on them. On others I did my own thing, and of course those are my favorite.

One of the most satisfying things about creating these Ableton packs is how the end result can change how you felt about your sampling. Though my focus was on bass, each instrument was multisampled into its high registers, and some patches just sound so good on leads and rhythm instruments. It is a true credit to the beauty of the instrument itself. If you need massive synth sounds, look no further. While packs are simply a taste of how amazing these synths really are, it’s a great way to get a sample of how fantastic the MiniMoog really is. Perhaps it will inspire you to own your own one day. It plays well, samples well, and sounds unbelievable.

I believe you will find these patches quite useful for your music in the bass register, as well as many other creative uses. Hear it for yourself and believe in the power of the MiniMoog Model D!"
