Reflex LiveLoop - Creating Slices to a Clock

Published on Sep 4, 2018 freshnelly

"The tutorial video covers making Slices (and samples) with a clock, and playing them randomly. This sounds mundane but is actually quite good when used with the original sequence (from a RIT_M in this case)

The first method is actually use Clock input to the record through ClockDiv while in Echo mode
The 2nd is to use REC T/G so steps through Rec-Echo-Play-Echo-Play etc. ( Feedback off so doesn't echo!)
The 3rd is to create 1-shot slices directly during a record only.

I hope this tutorial inspires ;)"

PROPHET-6 vs PROPHET-12: Building a Patch

Published on Sep 4, 2018 MR TUNA Music

"Went into this one pretty blind, as-per-usual... It could have been a little more focused, but there's a lot less fun in that. Audio quality is the shits and that's a tragedy. Prophet-6 is just a little too hot for how I have it hooked up in the set-up right now. It's all bullshit anyways.
Which one do you prefer??"

Mark Steiner - SEM V Patch Collection - Demo

Published on Sep 4, 2018 Mark Steiner

"Mark Steiner NuEVI/Wind Synth - Patch Collection
for the Arturia SEM V Pre - Order Sale.

The cost for this collection is $95 after Oct. 1st, but currently costs $65, pre-ordered.

The SEM V is the BEST analog style plugin for sound and breath control smoothness/attack I have found.

My collection of these Analog emulated wind patches will include at least 100 very carefully set up voices, specifically mapped for the NuEVI. But they also work great with WX, AKAI, head set breath controllers etc.

Doing a PRE-Order because the SEM V is half price (so $74.99 right now) up through Sept. 9th and I wanted people to be able to purchase these or at least know of them in time for that. The collection isn’t fully ready yet and I didn’t want to rush it. I want them all to be perfect, well customized, balanced and representing a great variety of expressive, very usable sounds.

In about 2 weeks I’ll release the first batch of complete patches, and the reset within a few more weeks after that.

Beyond the 100 or so patches, I’ll also release 20 more “layer” patches. These are made to layer a lead sound to give a padded background or reference. I do this a lot myself and these tend to respond a lot more subtly or automatically than the lead voices. So it’s just a matter of using 2 layers in your DAW with 2 SEM V sounds… and good to have them vary as far as reverb mix.

These sounds are worth it and are inspiring, very original and hard to stop playing and exploring. So many fun techniques within each.

Signal Switcher + Sampler Triggering + Step Seq Demo SSP 04092018 & an Update

Published on Sep 4, 2018 PERCUSSA

"In this demo the step sequencer module on the SSP sends sample selecting and gate signals to the signal switcher / sampler modules. The step value controls the selection of samples via the switcher module. More info about the SSP at http://www.percussa.com/"

Update: via the Percussa kickstarter:

"Update 04092018 - 3 new modules + copy paste feature + bugfixes!

Hi everyone,

Time for a new software update! Below is a summary of what's new. For the full story visit the forum.

New Module (1/3) - Bus

We added a new module that allows you to route signals anywhere in the patcher grid, which is important if you're working on a big patch spanning multiple pages.

The new BUS module lets you do this. It has 8 inputs and 8 outputs. The input channels are summed to corresponding channels of an internal buffer, and the output channels are read from the internal buffers' channels. You can change the source and destination buffer number via the P-page (there are 64 internal buffers!).

An interesting side effect is that if you wrote data into a buffer and then stop writing to that destination, but then read from the buffer using another bus module, is that the contents are still there and will be looped :-)

New Module (2/3) - Switcher

We added a signal switcher module as requested by @Mercurial @IvanS and others. The switcher module has a selection input, and a signal input. The selection input is used to route the signal input to any of the 8 outputs of the switcher module.

One example application is to send a gate into the signal input and to connect the 8 outputs to the 8 gate inputs of the sampler such that when the selection input changes, the gate triggers a different sample. You can see this in action in the video below.

New Module (3/3) - Simple Delay [kickstarter stretch goal]
We added a simple delay module, with delay parameter. The delay module has a signal input and output, and simply delays a signal. It can be used of course with any signal, such as audio signals, CVs and gates, internal or external.

New Features and Bug Fixes

* Module copy paste feature has been implemented in the patcher grid (N-page) as requested by @BrettSaberhagen and others. Module parameter settings are copied and multiple-pasting is possible after pressing the copy button once.

* Bug reported by @mercurial @sspix regarding preset selection and loading (lots of turning to select next/previous preset) has now been fixed.

We hope you enjoy this new update and look forward to the next one! Thanks for your continued support,

Bert & Celine"

some spooky late night music - Eurorack with Monome Kria & Ableton Wavetable

Published on Sep 4, 2018 junklight

"Still loving the old grids.

Kria is a nice sequencer - once you have a grid - Ansible is really good value - two decent sequencers and the Earthsea app as well.

The Ableton wavetable synth continues to be my new favourite wavetable based synth. It was pretty much bottom of my list of reasons to upgrade to 10 - 'why would I need that when I already have a ton of wavetables' but it's ace!"

Getting to Know Planar 2 - Part 1

Published on Sep 4, 2018 Intellijel

"In this video we start to get to know Planar 2. We check out its controls, inputs and outputs in order to explore some of the possibilities of this versatile module.

With its smoothly responsive precision joystick, Planar 2 facilitates hands-on vector control of two entirely independent sets of outputs (quadrants A-D, and axis X/Y), plus the ability to capture and playback your gestures. Recording your joystick movements enables the creation of organic and complex envelopes, wild and wobbly LFOs, or extended sonic evolutions. It mixes, morphs, routes and pans audio inputs; triggers gates; outputs control voltages and is itself, CV-controllable. Planar2 puts the ‘joy’ back in ‘joystick,’ and the ‘fun’ back in ‘function generator.’ Its multitasking and tactile interface makes it a flexible and unique control device, no matter what your musical genre."

"Released in 1984, this 8-voice polyphonic synth has 2 analog DCOs and one sub-osc. Stackable in poly-8, poly4 or mono mode for a really big sound. Great for leads, bass, brass, drones, pads and strings, plus add on-board 'ensemble' (chorus) or 'brass' (ring mod) effects.

I've owned this unit since the mid-1990s, only smoke-free studio use. It is built like a tank- this one is fully functioning, have had zero issues with it. Keys, buttons, knobs, sliders all in perfect working order, MIDI works. The wood-grain sides are in good shape with only a few minor dings/scratches, and the metal casing has only a few minor scratches on the edges, one dent near the rear power supply."
