"Jupiter 4!! Roland's first polyphonic synthesizer that kicked off the revolution of famous Jupiter and Juno synthesizers of the 80s. This lovely instrument sports that original 70s Roland synth look with the nice chunky design, shiny knobs and preset control panel below the keys, one of the later models with this aesthetic. The sound is nice and warm due to the VCOs but it is easy to see how Roland's other polysynths evolved from this point. The layout is very similar to the Junos with a simple but effective control scheme that is hard to make a bad sound with. Of course this is a very early computer controlled synthesizer as well, allowing saving of 8 user presets, compuphonic! Its truely an amazing experience playing the Jupiter 4. It is incredible sounding and such a breeze to program, don't forget the amazing ensemble effect and built in arpeggiator. The LFO can even reach up to audio rate allowing for some awesome polyphonic filter oscillator FM. Its easy to see why the Jupiter 4 is an absolute classic.

This Jupiter is in great shape for its age with normal wear and tear but no missing button caps, switches or knobs. It was recently serviced and tuned and is working just as it did 40 years ago. The only stand out cosmetic issue is some sort of gunk between the bender section and top panel. It would not come off easily. Please see the detailed photos for reference to the condition."

Mini Polivoks Modular (5 Eurorack modules from The Harvestman)

Published on Jan 22, 2020 poorness studios

"It took me a few years to find all these modules on the used market, but I managed to put together a Eurorack Polivoks clone. All 5 modules are from The Harvestman (Industrial Music Electronics) and were designed by Scott Jaeger in conjunction with Vladimir Kuzmin (the designer of the original Polivoks synthesizer). This modules are housed in a 4MS Pod48X. The original Polivoks synthesizers were made from 1982-1990 by the Formanta radio factory in Russia. They are sought after for their unique sound that came from the Soviet-made electronic components."

Patch and Tell - E4 - Onde Magnétique OM-1 Cassette Synthesizer + Drone + Envelope Follower

Published on Jan 21, 2020 The Galaxy Electric

"Thanks for watching! If you are interested in the sound of TAPE you can check out some sound examples of Digital vs. Analog here: https://thegalaxyelectricshop.com/pro...

In this installment of Augustus Green of The Galaxy Electric's Patch and Tell we explore the OM-1 Cassette Synthesizer by Onde Magnétique designed by Scott Campbell out of Louisiana. We are using a prerecorded tape of one of our weekly buchla drone performances. [see here]

I am using the OM-1 for pitch and gate cv control that is being generated from Koma Elektronik's Field Kit's Envelope Follower. The Envelope Follower is a circuit that generates a control voltage envelope from an incoming audio signal. In this case the audio signal is a digital drum loop that was prerecorded onto the cassette using my tape-ify (https://thegalaxyelectricshop.com/pro...) process and played by a Tascam Porta02 mkII. The tape stock used was my low grade Type II CrO2 formula. The pitch and gate of the cv controllable cassette player are informed by the dynamics and feel of the drum loop. I further control the pitch using the buttons on the OM-1 which generate Volt per Octave control voltages that play back the tape at different speeds. The result is a tight groove that allows me to repurpose the drone recording. Lastly, there is a little random cv controlled radio added into the mix for good measure.

New Morphagene Firmware!

Published on Jan 21, 2020 MAKEN0ISE

"Change Log for mg203

1. New options added. They are on the “options.txt” file which is found on the root directory of any microSD card that has been mounted in a Morphagene. See the MG155 changelog on page 34 of the manual for more information on this file.

The new options mcr1, mcr2, and mcr3 allow user-definable Morph Chord Ratios (detuning of 2nd through 4th Genes with Morph at its highest settings). Historical settings have been 2.00000 (+1 octave), 3.00000 (+1 octave & 5th), and 4.0000 (+2 octaves). Now you can set any ratio from 0.06250 (-4 octaves) to 16.00000 (+4 octaves). Ratios are accurate to five decimals. You can also make one or more individual Genes play in reverse with this setting by using negative numbers. A value of 1.00000 results in unison (no detuning). A list of 12-TET ratios is provided as comments in the text file for easy copy/paste.

2. The Auto-level procedure has been replaced with an improved input gain staging, accessed with a 4-step gain selection (blue-green-orange- purple). To use, Hold Record, and Press Shift to step through the gain settings: Blue: low -3db, Green: modular level, Orange: medium +6db, Purple: high +12db.

3. Playback gain is reverted to pre-mg157 level to improve TLA and Record-Into-New-Splice functions.

4. Internal processing improved to work with (2) and (3) to significantly improve signal-to-noise ratio on input and playback.

5. Minor bug fixes."

Everything works great. Gameboy shows some cosmetic wear as pictured, but the screen is nice and clean and free from all but superficial scratches. The speaker still works.

LSDJ cart works great (version 5.3.5)."
