HAPPY LEAP DAY! I've been going down a bit of a Stylophone rabbit hole lately but I couldn't pass up this vintage treble model. It came with the original box and a lot of memorabilia. This 1970's Stylophone even has the mod which gives it a lower volume setting.

2nd London Synth & Pedal Expo Set for March 16-17

The next London Synth & Pedal Expo is set for March 16-17. Entry is free with an RSVP here. Details follow:

"The organizers of the Brooklyn and LA Synth Expo are delighted to announce the second appointment with the London, UK edition of the event.

Free to the public, the London Synth and Pedal Expo is an annual, strictly-in-the-headphones event featuring:
A gear expo – where musicians can try pedals and interact with builders

A pop-up market – where exhibitors can sell their products to attendees
Workshops and clinics

Gear giveaways and other promotions (discounts, deals, etc)

After an extremely crowded one-day launch in 2023, the 2024 edition of the London Synth & Pedal Expo will be hosted during the course of a weekend in a larger venue in Hackney Wick, offering gear lovers the opportunity to check out and try the latest devices by big and small builders belonging to two increasingly cross-pollinating niches.

It will also feature an educational component with workshops and clinics, and an assortment of media partners and influencers that will allow it to broaden its relevance beyond the physical constraints of a real-life event.

---

The Story behind the Expo
Launched in 2018 in Brooklyn, NY, the Synth & Pedal Expo is a dynamic and compact gear exhibition in a pop-up format, specifically tailored for the vibrant, city-based music communities shaping the most lively scenes in North America and Europe.

Unpretentious, free to the public, and pop-up in nature, this strictly in-the-headphones event was born from an NYC music blog covering local emerging bands called The Deli as a way to entertain the community of musicians it served.

After expanding to several other big North American music scenes like Los Angeles, Toronto, and Portland - the Synth & Pedal Expo launched its London show on March 18, 2023 - although it was initially scheduled for 2020.

Event Details:
When: March 16-17, 2024
Where: Studio 9294, Hackney Wick, London
Tickets: Free to the public

"Ever wondered what the diffserence was among the various flavor randomness in the Buchla 266 Source of Uncertainty? Of course the faceplate graphics give a clue but I prefer listening to the different densities, distributions and ranges. Using the 1979 Modular Switcher this is possible to compare them in real time. Enjoy!

Introducing Sinc Legio multimode stereo oscillator from Noise Engineering

video upload by Noise Engineering

"Now available for the Legio platform, Sinc Legio: https://bit.ly/3SZzWFE

Sinc Legio is a new oscillator based on our beloved Sinc Iter module. Sinc Legio has a host of great features, including independent phase-modulation inputs for left and right channels, multiple algorithms for sonic joy, and a vintage-inspired chorus.

Use Sinc Legio for bright sounds, FM plucks, and waveshaped and folded sounds. It's easy to use on its own or to integrate into a complex patch.

Like with our other platforms, if you own any Legio module, you can swap to any other Legio firmware for free by going to the Noise Engineering Customer Portal and connecting with the included USB cable."

Additional details follows:

"The new Sinc Legio compact stereo oscillator from @noiseeng adds some zest with multiple modes and a vintage-inspired chorus. And with free firmware swapping, this module can be used to create percussion, dynamics processing, filtering, and more.

The new Sinc Legio from @noiseeng is a powerful multimode stereo oscillator with wave morphing, folding, and phase modulation. Plus, its firmware can be swapped to other Legio modules for free.

Los Angeles, CA — Modular synthesizer company Noise Engineering, known for their unique Eurorack and software instruments, has announced an addition to their Legio module platform: Sinc Legio.

In 2022, Noise Engineering released the highly anticipated Virt Iter Legio, the inaugural module on the 6HP Legio platform, a compact counterpart to the Versio effects platform. Sinc Legio brings another free-running oscillator to the platform with three new oscillator algorithms.

According to Noise Engineering, Sinc Legio pays homage to one of the company’s earliest modules, Sinc Iter, and was designed around wavemorphing and stereo phase modulation. One of Sinc Legio’s most interesting features are its stereo phase modulation inputs, opening up unique possibilities for stereo patching. It also includes algorithms based around two flavors of PM and wavefolding for complex sound creation, no extra modules required, for simpler patches. Sinc Legio also features a vintage-inspired chorus and a hardsync input for broad stereo sound design and classic synth patches.

Because Legio is an oscillator and effects platform, owners of existing Legio modules can immediately try out the new Sinc Legio firmware. Firmware is 100% free and swappable at any time from the Noise Engineering Customer Portal. Sinc Legio marks the fifth firmware on the platform, and Noise Engineering hints that more are on the way. Swappable overlays for Sinc Legio will also be available in the near future.

Sinc Legio also comes as a paneled module in both black and silver, and is available now at https://noiseengineering.us and at retailers globally.

Availability and pricing:
Sinc Legio: In stock in black and silver. Shipping from Noise Engineering and retailers starting February 29th, 2024; MSRP US$310

The drum machine pedalboard Ep2: Monomyth and Acidbox III

video upload by Richard DeHove

"The second episode in the series which explores different pedal and routing combinations with the LXR-02 drum machine. This time it's Joyo's Darkglass Microtubes X-Ultra clone 'Monomyth' and the Erica Synths Acidbox III. Taking just a stereo pair out, the left side goes into the Monomyth, which is a bass pre-amp with EQ; and the right side goes into the Acidbox and then to the Nemesis stereo delay.

The kits on the LXR-02 have been slightly tweaked in the panning to push the more kick-like sounds to the Monomyth. They've also been programmed with the effects on, so can sound a bit odd when dry.

Four demo tracks here which mainly speak for themselves although I should mention the last demo 'Transient' is interesting in headphones where you can pick out the big effect the Acidbox has on the transients. In hindsight it may have been better not to twiddle the knobs on that one so much, but it's hard to resist that gigantic filter knob :D

The only thing added in the DAW was a brickwall limiter to catch some of the peaks, otherwise everything is as you see it.

"This thing is great for dreamy evolving pads, drunk sounding horns, lofi surfing, and 80’s car chases.

The filter is modded to allow free playable control over cutoff and resonance, with a 2 pole/ 4 pole switch installed for more variety.
The chorus has been modded to allow adjustment of the rate, going into audio range for ringmod-like effects, adjustment of depth, and a true mix knob allowing for control between fully dry and fully wet.

There’s an external input, so you can run some audio signals in and override the noise (ext input level follows noise/filter envelope).

The internal battery has been replaced with a battery clip for no-solder battery swaps and a brand new battery has been installed.

All the tact switches have been replaced, so no annoying switch bounces while trying to program a sound.

The instrument is painted to match the green lettering in the programmer menu."

Roland System 100 Synthesizer - Jamming with a multi - modulated patch #synth #roland #modularsynth

video upload by S R DHAIN

"The Roland System 100 allows you to create more sonic complexity than it initially appears to allow.

Here, the sequencer and LFO on the 102 are syncopated by ear, so there is more happening aurally. The 102's ring modulator is also being fed by the LFO for added sonic seasoning.

The 101's keyboard is triggering a slow LFO swept filter sound & is also transposing the sequence sent by the 104 to 102 in real time.

Towards the end, you can hear how the 102's sound changes as the different modulations are altered in real time."

They will let anyone have a MPC Keys 37 Day 7 Conclusion

video upload by G Tracks

The playlist above features all 7 days.

"Hey y'all, I am bringing you a brand new piece of amazing awesome-sauce part Seven!!! Day 7
These are my thoughts after using this phenomenal machine for a week, granted I have limited experience with the whole MPC system and a million things to learn. This has been an amazing week learning and growing and I truly believe that anyone can pick and use this fantastic machine. It definitely will take some dedication and a lot of learning but everything is all right there in the Key 37. I set a goal for myself to do a weeks worth of sessions and I am hooked and want to do more. As I am exploring this machine ideas are just flowing and that is a really good feeling. The easiest way to start is with a drum kit which provides you with a set of 16 drums and sounds to choose from to make a custom beat. You then can add an additional drum kit or single sounds to round out your beat. The Key 37 also offers a dedicated button to be able to go right to your keyboard sounds/ Plug ins that will get you going quick. Straight out of the box it comes pre loaded with all of this and AKAI offers additional bundles so you will never get bored or tired of the same sounds. I have not learned to chop samples yet but with STEMS coming out you'll be able to make your own custom samples. I look forward to exploring and sharing what I learn in my Sessions/Tracks to come. This is a personal journey, and whether you choose to share your music or keep it for yourself, don't let the outside noise distract you from creating -the process should be fun and should make you happy. This session I created a beat that is suiting for a conclusion to my first week with the MPC Key 37. I am so grateful to all of you that have watched me with this amazing machine and Thank You for coming along with me on this journey. Don't fret I will be back soon so Please like and subscribe to catch all the new great content to come. Have a fantastic day and Let's Make Some Music!"

This cover song series contains my own recreations of my favourite songs from the last 50 years. The original music from which I take inspiration belong to their respective owners. I recreate tracks only for personal passion and to pay homage to these tracks.
My intention is not to create covers that sound exactly like the original (if you want to hear identical sounds, please listen the original). Behringer Cat Retro & Modern Patches: Bass, Lead. No Talk Demo

video upload by Anton Anru

"Welcome to the soundset for the Behringer Cat synthesizer.
«Analog Classics» is a collection of 60 patches: 18 Leads, 16 Basses, 16 Plucks, 5 Chords, 5 FX.
It includes famous sounds that are found in many electronic tracks, from vintage to modern, musical solo timbres; retro basses that will fit into any track or performance. The patches will add uniqueness to your music, featuring the characteristic sound introduced by the Behringer Cat.

📦 Get the soundset: https://antonanru.sellfy.store/p/cat-...

Plucks are excellent for use with arpeggiators or sequencers. In most examples of this category, I utilize an arpeggiator. Behringer Cat doesn’t have a built in arp/seq, but you may integrate your preferred arpeggiators or sequencers from your DAW or MIDI controller.

Chords are patches that involve intervals between the oscillators, such as major/minor thirds and others, creating the illusion of a chord.

The presets are suitable for a variety of genres, including: ambient, electronica, IDM, deep, techno, house, progressive, trance, lounge, downtempo, funk, jazz, pop, chill out, new age, cinematic, breaks, jungle, drum and bass, dub and others.

The soundset is presented in the form of PDF-Document. Each page contains notes that explain how the patch works, what parameters are worth tweaking during playback, and how to develop the timbre during a performance.

There are audio examples of all patches inside the folder with the soundset.

A Eurorack Mix & Output Problem Solver // The NEW! Output Bus from DivKid & Befaco

video upload by DivKid

"Introducing the new OUTPUT BUS module from me (DivKid) and Befaco. It's an 8HP summing mixer, output stage, soft clip limiter, line level integrator, LED meter visualiser, headphone monitor and more ... it has many features that aimed to solve typical mix and output problems you'll find yourself working with in a Eurorack modular system."

A 5 minute rave on the Divkid Output Bus.

video upload by mylarmelodies

"Weirdly Ben has made almost exactly the module I need right now, as I'm building a modular mixer in my latest live system, and I need to sum and 'vibe up' the Roland TR-8. My pal Ben @DivKid sent me one for free - so here's me starting to use it! (Video update on this case coming soon!) 🙌 "

via DivKid

"The Output Bus is your ultimate output module: Presented by DivKid and Befaco, meant to be the last link in your modular chain!

Inspired by pro audio and studio summing units the Output Bus allows for summing style mixing, external gear integration, soft clip limiting, flexible output types, headphone monitoring and level visualization.

The module works great mixing all your other mixers in your setup, to return mono or stereo FX into the master bus and for bringing in external stereo line level gear with ease. All of this in just 8HP while also being able to visualize your final levels, output appropriate signals on the right cable type and monitor in headphones.

FEATURES

Six stereo inputs.

Line/synth selector in input six.

Modular level minijack out.

6,5” Jack balanced out.

3.5mm and 1/4″ headphone outs.

Led VU-meter.

Soft clipping circuit at main output."

CRUMAR PERFORMER COMPARISON - BOTH FILTER VERSIONS

video upload by Vintage Audio Institute Italia

"This is a dry - very dry - comparison video of the two iterations of the first model of the Crumar Performer - a string and brass machine.

There was also a second model Performer, the Performer 2, with a slightly different look, but I've never played that one - it's quite rare.

What makes the biggest difference between the early and late production run of the first model Crumar Performer is the architecture and components of the Brass filter section.

So we'll focus on that in this video, after a quick String Section comparison.

Crumar initially used the Moog Ladder filter for the Performer, and later modified the brass circuitry and switched to a SSM2040 filter.

Not only the components changed - the sound and behaviour of the Brass section itself changed.

There are quite a few opinions out there regarding the two filter sections so let's do some myth busting right away. There's no fool proof indicator of what filter version Crumar Performer you have in your hands just looking at it.

We initially thought the octave switch on the front panel was added together with the SSM filter - incorrect- we've had a Performer without octave switch that still mounted the SSM filter.

Some people say B in the serial number on the back indicates later production run units with SSM filters - also incorrect - these are both marked B but one is equipped with the Moog ladder filter.

Very low serial numbers should generally have the Moog Ladder filter but there's no rule of thumb - you just have to plug in your Performer and listen - or open it up and see which components are on board.

These were just serviced and calibrated according to specs - there's an official procedure for this - the SSM filter model had the SSM2040 switched to a new SSM2140 - without it making any difference on the behaviour or sound of the filter - we tried both."

"The central module with the screens is one of the 'subharmonic generators' that give the Mixtur-Trautonium the 'mixture' bit of its name. The modules appear to be held in place with quick-release thumb screws, which is an interesting idea."
