Alesis Andromeda A6 Polyphonic Analog Synthesizer

via this auction

"Alesis Andromeda A6 analog synthesizer. If you're looking at this auction, you probably have a good idea of what this synth is and what it's capable of: spectacular pads, great strings, deep bass, cutting leads, and modulations modulations MODULATIONS! 2 VCO's per voice (put all sixteen voices in unison, detune, and you have a thick beastly sound!), 12db hi-pass, low-pass, and band-pass filters, 24db low-pass filter, great effects, three envelopes and three LFO's per voice, sequencers, arpeggiators.... the only way you can get an analog synthesizer to do more than this beast will is to get a modular, and it would take a LOT of modules to match the Andromeda."

craque's modular

YouTube via dtauvdiodr
"(probably) the final components all together for a modular sound machine i'm building. you're seeing/hearing just one of the combinations possible out of (from left-to-right in the pic):

--- a single-input state variable filter with separate outs for HP, BP and LP

--- passive mixer with 3 inputs and a single buffered output

--- 2 variable speed oscillators, each with CV input and separate triangle and square wave outputs

--- buffered amplifier with gain and volume control

--- 10-step sequencer with both clock and gate inputs and a single output

the only thing really missing in the breadboard layout is a dedicated variable voltage power control for the oscillator chip to get nice glitchy effects.

i believe in this configuration i have the VCA driving the triangle output of VCO1 and leading into the filter, which here has HP and LP being mixed together. the triangle signal is being modulated by the output of the sequencer, which itself is being controlled by VCO2... at the same time, the pulse (square) wave output of VCO1 is acting as a gate/reset for the sequencer, providing even more interesting modulation effects."

Driving a new distortion

"My first synth module (with blue lights) is a simple pair of 555 square-wave oscillators with very simple sallen-key low pass filters on top of each, with dials on top for pitch and cut-off frequency for each VCO. There are switches which can be used as momentary toggles or turned on for drones and rhythmic phrasing.

The other device I'm playing is brand new, but has been designed in my head for quite a while now: a 3-stage distortion unit (jfet buffer and hex inverters), with tone control on each of the first two stages and a switchable EQ on the third (basically it's just "brighter" / "darker"), also with amplitude control. The gray metal box behind the breadboard is the chassis; the three knobs, two switches, 1/4" in/out, battery and PCB all fit nice and snugly."

Clavilux 2000 - Interactive instrument for generative music visualization

Clavilux 2000 - Interactive instrument for generative music visualization from Jonas Heuer on Vimeo.

"The Clavilux 2000 is an interactive instrument for generative music visualization, which is able to generate a live visualization of any music played on a digital piano. The setting of the installation consists of three parts: A digital piano with 88 keys and midi output, a computer running a vvvv patch and a vertical projection above the keyboard. For every note played on the keyboard a new visual element appears in form of a stripe, which follows in its dimensions, position and speed the way the particular key was stroke. Colours give the viewer and listener an impression of the harmonic relations: Each key has it's own color scheme and "wrong" notes stand out in contrasting colors. All stripes stay and overlap each other in an additive way, so at the end a kind of pattern remains – a summary of the music – which will be always unique since the notes of the composition aswell as the interpretation of the piano player are influencing the outcome. Furthermore the piano player can switch between the standart 2d view and an additional 3d view of the visualization while playing. — For more information jonasheuer.de/index.php/clavilux-2000/" via Gizmodo

Renoise 2.5

"Just in time for a new decade, Renoise gets an upgrade from executive suite to penthouse with a panoramic view. The Renoise Pattern Matrix, both a bird's eye view and a song editor, is the missing link that pushes Renoise's unique approach to music composition to the next level. It's the perfect companion to the "eyes on the details" appearance and capabilities of the Pattern Editor.

Renoise meta-devices (FX units that receive and transform parameters and other non-audio data) are now interconnectable across tracks. This opens the door to more modular approaches, like linking LFOs or key/audio signals all throughout your mix. Two new meta-devices round-up this "do anything" experience, giving the sound artist the freedom to connect and modulate all parameters with all others.

That's just the beginning. Vastly improved MIDI mapping, automated rendering of plugin instruments to samples, a native guitar & bass amp simulator FX, performance optimizations, GUI improvements and much more..."

EDP Wasp & Gnat Emulators for PC by *Analog Synth Lab*

via this auction
(sample player at the auction while up - it auto plays so I'm not embedding it)

"What Analog Synth Lab is all about is bringing the technology to you; those who are interested in making music and synthesizing but can't afford the old classic vintage synths or you just don't know where to start.

If you're a synth wizard or you're new to the whole thing; Analog Synth Lab will cater for your needs.

You can play the synths with your PC (qwerty) keyboard, a midi keyboard or a sequencer (both hardware and software sequencers supported) and tweak the knobs and relish in the sound of analog synthesizers.

If you have no knowledge about synthesizers then don't worry. There are lots of preset sounds so you can get playing straight away. And if you are feeling adventurous then twiddle with any of the knobs to see how it changes the sound.

Have a classic part of history in your computer and be a part of the electronic generation!"

"Ebay Exclusive! You will not find this product for sale anywhere else.

This synth, along with the ASL Little Flatty, has more features than any other emulator available.

The EDP Wasp is a cult classic. Original units are now fetching over £700-£800
The Wasp's younger brother, the Gnat, is also a classic and prices for a Gnat are around £400-£500.

The ASL Dream Plant brings together the Wasp & the Gnat in one complete software package.

The original EDP Wasp & the Gnat could be synced up together - which is what the ASL Dream Plant offers. A Wasp & a Gnat - in sync and just begging to be played.

So you are getting 2 classic synth emulations for 1% of the price you'd pay for the real thing.

Heard over countless records of the late 70's and early 80's - the Wasp was more suited to the "out there" and open minded folk.

Who before had seen a synthesizer that was yellow and black?!

If you like weird, raspy, ballsy sounds..then this is for you.

There's a reason why this synth is so notorious...that's because it sounds absolutely mental..and I absolutely love it!

And why did they call it the Wasp? Well, it sounds like a wasp...but the coolest wasp you've ever heard!

Key Features
* Modelled on EDP Wasp and Gnat hardware synths
* Multi mode Filter - Lowpass, Highpass and Bandpass
* Repeating Envelope Generators
* Unique mixer section..
* Analogue Delay (modelled on the Boss DM-2)"
