Cute little melody on three analogue sequencers

YouTube Uploaded by organfairy on May 3, 2011

"After having build some sequencers I thought it could be nice to actually create some music with them. I therefore composed this melody out of 16 notes - the maximum capacity on the biggest sequencer - I used another for a kind of arpeggio that runs in sync with the melody sequencer. The third sequencer is used for the un-syncronized notes in the beginning.

I used the Technics SX-C600 organ for some chords and to scatter some happy notes over the arrangement."

Bugbrand Weevil 08 Noise Synth

via this auction

"Bugbrand Weevil '08 in Superb used condition. I've owned this from new and it has had an easy life. It has a speaker and 1/4 inch line out so you can operate it stand alone or record it with a mic or process it directly through the sound card/mixer. It also plays well with pedals and modular gear. I've recorded the output and used the waveforms in other synths with good results.

These are not available any more from Tom of Bugbrand, and they were always sold out very quickly so it may be a last chance to grab one. I'm including the original literature and it even comes in the original brown cardboard box with a free Bugbrand sticker."

E-mu Drumulator Drum Machine, MIDI, and EPROMS Kits

via this auction

"The Drumulator is a sample based drum machine from circa 1983. The original Drumulator stock sound set was gritty, lo-fi, 12-bit samples of basic drum sounds, which become a classic in many songs of the 80s. The company now known as Digidesign, or Avid (Pro Tools), created sound sets for the E-Mu Drumulator and other sample-based drum machines, called Digidrums Sound Chips. This auction includes 9 Digidrums Drumulator EPROM kits (5 EPROMs in each kit) in addition to the Drumulator stock drum kit, and a custom 808 sound kit from drummob.

The EPROM sockets inside the Drumulator have been outfitted with 5 removable high-quality EPROM ZIFs that allow for easily removing and installing of drum kits.

Note: That the DigiDrums EPROM kits included in this auction are not the originals, but replacements made from the original Digidrums chips (see link below to hear the kits).

The 10 EPROM Drumulator Drum Kits included with this auction are:
Drumulator Stock Kit
drummob TR-808 Kit
Digidrums Electronic Drums 1
Digidrums Electronic Drums 2
Digidrums Rock Drums 1
Digidrums Jazz Drums 1
Digidrums Drums/Latin Percussion
Digidrums Latin Percussion
Digidrums Alt Drum Kit #3
Digidrums All Percussion
Digidrums Sound Effects 1

... I’ve made recordings of each of the EPROM drum kits included with the Drumulator in this auction and posted them here.

You can download and view the Drumulator Users Manual here"

LinnDrum LM-2

via this auction

"The LinnDrum was the second machine from Linn Electronics. It's basically an upgraded version of the original, also considered the Linn Drums predecessor, LM-1 with added crash and ride cymbals to the kit. The LinnDrum uses samples of acoustic drum sounds. At the time, they sounded great and much more realistic and they were a fresh alternative to the analog drum sounds of the '80's drum machines. The LinnDrum also had a handy upgrade option, a well designed layout and interface, and live drum trigger inputs."

OscilloScoop for iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch

YouTube Uploaded by ssnibbe on Apr 20, 2011

"Tap, slide, and stretch your fingers over OscilloScoop to create an infinity of electronica, dance, hip hop, and techno tracks. With OscilloScoop you make real musical grooves by simply gliding your fingertips over spinning crowns; then sequence them into a real-time performance with a few taps. As effortless as a toy, OscilloScoop gives you the same tools pro DJs and musicians use to create intricate tracks—but with an intuitive interface inspired by video games and animation. OscilloScoop is an organic, generative way to make music in a process that's more like dancing than composing: it's addictive, fun, and original.

OscilloScoop features continuous tone melody; 16- and 32-beat quantizing; low-pass filter; volume control; selection of loopable beats in techno, hip hop, electro, and house; tempo control from 60 to 140 beats per minute; in-app purchase of additional beat sets; preset saves for live performance; and fine-grain editing when you tilt into landscape.

OscilloScoop is designed by Lukas Girling, a creator of interactive musical interfaces who has worked with world-renowned musicians and music technologists including Laurie Anderson and Max Mathews. The app was created in collaboration with interactive artist and programmer Scott Snibbe, author of the bestselling apps Bubble Harp and Gravilux; and Graham McDermott, noted video game and app developer.

Sound Cells demo - generative music iPhone app

YouTube Uploaded by kbroom on May 2, 2011

"Sound Cells is an Universal iOS app, that creates generative music, inspired by the "Otomata" web app. By touching the matrix, cells are created and start interacting with each other. If they collide (or land on the same square) they will change directions. If a cell touches the wall, it will generate a sound. The rest of the app mechanics are left to the user for experimentation."

The app comes with the 2 different sounds, which can be controlled in realtime for very expressive effects. Also the app can generate MIDI output, so you can hook up a midi capable instrument for endless possibilities.

This is a universal app and on the iPad, it will use the full available resolution for a rich visual experience."

Philip Glass' Koyaanisqatsi on Eigenharp Alpha

YouTube Uploaded by gbevin on May 3, 2011

"http://www.eigenzone.org/events - I've prepared a reinterpretation of Koyaanisqatsi for our San Francisco Eigenharp tour from May 5-10.

Koyaanisqatsi holds a special place in my heart, it's one of those musical pieces that never leaves you, it stays deep inside you with all its beauty and nakedness, forever. My father introduced me to it when I was a little kid, it's a real shame he passed away before I was able to play it for him myself. He would have loved it. Nonetheless, this is dedicated to him.

I think I managed to capture the essence of Koyaanisqatsi, let me know what you think of it.

I you like this performance, you can download the lossless audio file from SoundCloud for free: http://soundcloud.com/gbevin/koyaanisqatsi

For those interested in the technical parts:

Everything is played on the Eigenharp Alpha and recorded straight from the audio interface output without any mixing and just a little bit of mastering. I'm using the SonicCouture's Glass / Works instrument in a four-part multi-timbral setup in Native Instruments Kontakt. Each key individually controls pitch, velocity and the resonance of the convolution filter cut-off frequency (which creates a faint scraping-like sound).

The vocals are done through the DPA microphone that's clipped onto the breath pipe and plugged into the Eigenharp Alpha. It uses the built-in Eigenharp Alpha pre-amp and is routed through a series of Audio Unit effects in EigenD for pitch shifting, stereo spreading, EQ and compression. I'm monitoring directly from the headphone output of the Eigenharp Alpha with my Etymotic ER-4P earphones.

The single instrument cables carries all the information, data and audio, in both directions."

GetLoFi Delay Unit and Piezo Tine Demo

YouTube Uploaded by circuitmaster on May 2, 2011

"This is a first demo of the newly revised GetLoFi Delay Kit. The kit will be available for purchase from GetLoFi.com/shop

The metal tines are mounted on a piece of wood with a Piezo pick underneath. The signal from the pickup is then routed directly into the LoFi Delay Unit and the output is routed strait to the audio recorder.

The only controls on the delay unit are Delay Time and Delay Feedback. Unit turns on when an output cable is inserted. In the demo the unit is operated by an optional 9 Volt Wall supply.

The delay itself is based on the PT2399 Digital IC, only bare minimum of components were used to make assembly as simple as possible. No OP-Amps are present in the circuit."
