SLEDGE - Rush "Subdivisions" Cover

"A while back, I recorded a drum track of Subdivisions by hand (key drumming) and put some faux guitar over it. My intention was to develop it into a full-blown cover, but other things got in the way. I LOVE me some Rush, and "Signals" is my album of theirs, so when people started asking me to program a Subdivisions patch on the Minilogue, I knew there was some interest.

Problem is, while the Minilogue is wonderful, you CANNOT play Subdivisions with 4-voice polyphony; not properly anyway! Now that I've got this Sledge, I decided to finish the cover and upload myself laying on the final track (the main synth comp/pad).

There were some mistakes here and there, but I only did this to show off the awesome patches for it that will be included in the set! So, aside from the drums and guitar, everything else was Sledge. That's the intro 7/8 bit, which I doubled up a few times for a Unison type effect, the choir in the bridges, the Minimoog lead (which you see me quickly trying to switch to while playing) and the comp/pad sound that plays throughout the whole song.

"This is the second song with the Red Sound Darkstar XP2. It's a table-top 8-voice polyphonic, 5-part multitimbral virtual analog synthesizer.

I used for the recording the following FX chain:
Darkstar XP2 - Sony DPS-V55M - DigiTech Obscura- DigiTech Polara. The used fx varied depending on the recorded track.

The signal goes via a small Behringer mixer straight into the pc.

To create the complete song I recorded consecutively several stereo tracks. The final song was then mastered with just a bit EQ and compression on some tracks and some limiting on the master track."

"I had such a fun time the last time I used the Atmegatron to write a song that I had to go back and have another go! This is a little spooOOookier than the last song (seeing as we've just passed Halloween). I hope you enjoy it!

Everything you hear (including the drums) is coming from the Atmegatron using its 'default' firmware. Very little processing has been applied during mixing - basically nothing more than rolling some bottom end off a few sounds, so it's pretty much Raw Atmegatron you're hearing!

I hope you enjoy it - I had a blast composing and recording it!

An Update on Black Corporation's DECKARD'S DREAM - 2nd Run of Prebuilt Units Pre-Orders Now Open

Most of the DIY kits were shipped in mid-October and we are already seeing some enthusiastic builders putting the finishing touches on their projects.

The first run of built Deckard’s Dream units will start shipping this week. We are looking forward to getting them to their new owners and hearing all of the great things they are used for. It has been a major learning experience, but we have managed to streamline some of the process do things more smoothly moving forward. We also had made many software improvements recently, adding extended EG and LFO speeds and microtuning features.

We have been receiving inquiries as to when the second run would be, so we are happy to announce that we are now accepting pre-orders, expecting to ship in February. "This is a classic piece of music history! A vintage Roland CR-78 CompuRhythm. This machine is in good working , it has been professionally serviced in the last couple months. Please see the end of listing for details on work done. The machine body is also in good condition- some wear to corners and 1 missing knob. Both details shown in up close pictures.

Service Description:
1. Cleaned up circuit board.
2. Re-capped both main cards as can caps leaking
3. Replaced corroded trigger connector, driver transistors, and resistors as originals were not accepting solder.
4. Wires added to bridge all traces between replacement connector pins and driver signals.
5. Cleaned other connectors and got all sounds to work from both the stored patterns and the programmer
6. Replaced frayed power cable with 3 pin grounded type
7. All functions working."

"Great little analog synth with built in sequencer, it's basically a SH-101 synth but it has a sequencer that can add accent and slide (just like an TB-303).
All pots and sliders work fine with no crackle or problems apart from the square wave slider on the source mixer, the sound doesn't begin to fade in until the slider is moved about 20% of its length. It's not really been a problem for me but I thought it needed to be mentioned.
All keys and buttons work perfectly.
Battery compartment clean.

2 channel Sequencer
Plays both the internal synth and also an external synth via CV and gate out using one channel while at the same time playing a second external synth with a totally different sequence using the external CV and gate outputs.

Tape Save/Load
Even though most users might consider the Tape in/out a bit redundant I think it is very useful as sequences can be saved/loaded using a sampler or audio channel from a DAW instead of tape, just record the data as audio and you can build a library of acid lines to load in seconds.

Sync In/Out
One Roland sync input and two sync outputs will allow the MC-202 to clock from an external device while it sends clock to two other devices

CV/Gate in
Play the internal synth and record realtime sequences using a full size keyboard

CV/Gate Out X 2
Play both Sequencer parts on external synths"
