"Also included will be the original 8 page documentation regarding Cheetah MS6 Firmware Upgrade v1.3 By Kristofer Maad... Plus a 26 page printed manual with everything needed to know on how to operate synthesiser. The Maad os adds some wonderful features like, allowing you to control everything via CC messages from your sequencer. DAW or controller!

This is a Six voice polyphonic analogue synth that can be split up in to 6 multi timbral parts.
Made from the same voice Curtis chips as Oberheim Matrix 1000
2 Oscillators
2 Envelopes
Filter and an LFO per voice.
Oscillators have 6 waveforms, PWM and sync .
One of the few synths that responds to polyphonic after touch too.

The MS6 is a full-featured analog synth with 12 oscillators with PWM, noise and sync. There are 6 analog 24dB/oct filters which are warm and resonant! Programming from the front panel is possible but quite a bit tedious, so use of an editor is definitely recommended, such as Unisyn or the Knobby. The MS6 has been used by OMD and Rick Wakeman.

Towards the end of the eighties, the British company Cheetah released their finest, the MS6. It's a 6-voice polyphonic/multitimbral analog synthesizer in a single-unit rack module. It has two digitally controlled oscillators per voice (12 DCOs) to provide better stability, and they sound surprisingly warm and musical. It's got the same sound chips (CEM 3396) as the Oberheim Matrix 6/6R and Matrix 1000 but the MS6 is multitimbral! Get creative with layering patches for ensembles or Trance heaven! Hidden within this little unit are some wonderful string, bass, lead, voice and percussion sounds!"

"The Breakaway 1000 is a voice controlled music synthesizer. You hum into a microphone and it comes out as any synth sound you choose. It has 28 voices to choose from.

The best thing is that it is also an Analog-to-MIDI converter. You can plug a 1/4" jack into it (guitar, say) and use the MIDI OUT jack to trigger any other MIDI instrument from your guitar, voice, keyboard, or what-have-you!

The Breakaway also has 5-track digital recording capabilities with a memory of over 1000 notes, along with built-in drum machine and bass accompaniment.

Breakaway Vocalizer 1000 was released in 1988, (licensed to Breakaway by the Eltrex Corp.) and sold thru the Sharper Image Catalog, Montgomery Ward stores, and distributed by Tascam.

It's notoriety has climbed in recent years as emerging electronic musicians clamored for a means to generate MIDI sounds using only their voice. It was discovered these Breakaway "toys" were actually quite capable instruments - able to track and playback to the nearest 32nd of a semitone. The on-board tone generator was co-developed by Ensoniq, a leader in music technology back then. The unit could also track the pitch of just about any sound-producing object and generate corresponding MIDI triggers. Even today, it is sought after by harmonica players as one of the best MIDI input devices available.

LCO studio notes: teletype

Published on Jul 1, 2015 LaborCamp

Playlist:
1. LCO studio notes: teletype 1 & 2

"Two short captures of the first couple of days with monome teletype module. In sample 1 teletype drives everything, including the PO-12. This involve some self-patching, and the internal teletype clock.
In sample 2 monome meadowphysics drives teletype, which in turns drives the rest of the setup. Sample 2 is basically one of the scenes that came preloaded on teletype, which I patched into my case almost randomly.
Main modules in both samples are teletype, Make Noise Mysteron, drone bed provided by E350 processed through Z-DSP running Halls of Valhalla, and Mutable Instruments Braids."

2. LCO studio notes: teletype 3 a—c

"These are three variations of one scene written in teletype. It's a more abstract, somewhat generative texture engine, with a single tone pattern. All the tempos and structures are derived from the internal teletype metronome (M)."

3. LCO studio notes: teletype 4

"A slightly more expansive arrangement with monome teletype at the center. Teletype is driven by meadowphysics triggers, further breaking up patterns, and controlling pitch variations derived form a single, internal sequence. Additional PO-12 drums are driven by teletype, and processed through CV-controlled Audio Damage Grainshift."

4. LCO studio notes: teletype 5

"This is an abridged performance of two iconic minimalist compositions by Steve Reich (“Piano Phase” and “Clapping Music”). Each composition consists of two “layers” of shifting patterns. I decided to use these patterns as an exercise in constructing a scene in teletype, where each pattern evolves in it’s own right, while staying in a fixed relationship to the remaining patterns.

In the beginning of the video you will see all the screens from teletype explaining how the scene was constructed. In the TRACKER view you can see the first two patterns on the left are the 12 note sequences of the “Piano Phase”. Even though they are identical, I set up two patterns independently, as they are being read at slightly different speeds. The leftmost pattern is being clocked by external triggers, while the rightmost one is being clocked by internal teletype metronome M, the tempo of which is calculated in script 1. The “Piano Phase” theme are rendered by the two oscillators of the Make Noise DPO. The two patterns on the right are simple 1s and 0s defining the sequences of claps based on Reich’s composition. These are triggering pulses that control white noise bursts, and MI Elements.

Here is some additional info on 'Piano Phase' and 'Clapping Music':

Apple Watch: First ever generative music piece made on Apple Watch?

Published on Jul 1, 2015 Intermorphic

"This generative music piece/composition was made with the Wotja Watch App (WWA) on Apple Watch paired with an iPhone running Wotja 2.

Wotja: http://intermorphic.com/wotja

Pete and I obviously made quite a few pieces whilst building/testing the first Wotja Watch App (it comes with Wotja 2.0), but this is somehow the first one I thought to create and then record to video. It's not an example of excellence per se, but more just a bit of fun to mark the start of the next chapter in what we hope is a long and exciting journey for Wotja.

How it was done:
On the Apple Watch I used Siri to enter the text into the WWA and I then changed some of the melodic composition settings, volumes and the tempo. I also tried different included players/backing to find what I felt worked well for this piece. I turned off all the Shuffle toggles and then pressed randomise to get a colour theme.

Once I was happy with my wotja, I hooked up my iPhone 5 and recorded it to video on my Mac. I even started/stopped the wotja and and tweaked the volumes in it with the WWA :).

Finally, using Wotja on my iPhone I emailed myself the file I made (just for posterity), and then emailed myself the Wotja Music URL. If you have Wotja or Wotja FREE you can visit it to play it.

Play it now: http://goo.gl/VQiyHE.

Note: The Wotja Music URL contain the melody that the text created, but not the text itself (had I used any emojis, though, they would have been included); to share something that included the text as well, you would need to share the file.

Our thanks
We thank our wives and families for their forbearance and support in allowing us to keep going on our generative journey that we first set out on in 1990 with SSEYO Koan. A lot of ground has been covered in those intervening 25 years, but it often feels like we have barely reached the foothills of those mountains in the distance we can see. We give special thanks to our good friends and fellow journeymen Timothy Didymus and Mark Harrop without whose help we would have given up long ago and also to our other collaborators, customers and friends throughout the years.

And, of course, we also thank you for listening... We hope that maybe you, too, will want to try creating your own, personal relaxing wotjas. They are fun and easy to make and easy to share!

LoopTree Tutorial: Recording

Published on Jul 2, 2015

"In this video I go over normal, chained and layered recording and how to use them. I also look at the following settings:

• Enable overdub
• Perform action on touch up"

iTunes:LoopTree - Coding Cod Ltd

"INTRODUCTORY SALE PRICE UNTIL 20 July 2015

LoopTree is an exciting new breed of looper that brings more fun than ever to creating live music! Record and group practically unlimited vocal and instrumental loops using a powerful, layered interface that gives you unrivalled control over the music you create.

Get your creative juices flowing and evolve your loops using the built-in filter and multi-touch beat repeat.

http://www.looptreeapp.com/

LoopTree solves the problem of destructive merging by instead combining your loops into layers. You retain individual control over your original loops and you can also control them as one using the new layer.

Note: of course nothing’s truly unlimited, but we haven’t programmed any specific limit to the number of loops or layers you can have. If you keep adding loops, eventually you will start to hear audio glitches.

FEATURE HIGHLIGHTS

• Unlimited number of loops (practically!)
• Non-destructive layering
• Beat repeat - sample, repeat and reverse loops
• Filter - add variety with an LPF, BPF and HPF

RECORDING

• Normal recording - fixed or multiple length loops
• Chained recording - select multiple tracks to record loops back-to-back
• Layered recording - equivalent of non-destructive overdubbing

LOOP LENGTH

Within a session, all loops are a 2^n multiple of the shortest loop (2x, 4x, 8x, etc). This makes it really easy to set the loop length whilst recording.

EASY TO USE

• One-finger volume/pan control on individual or simultaneous loops
• Group control - group tracks into layers; parent tracks control all layers of child tracks.
• MIDI Control
• Quantize options
• Metronome - create custom accented rhythms

SHARING AND IMPORT

• Support for IAA, AudioBus and AudioCopy/Paste
• Share sessions and recordings via email, iTunes and SoundCloud

AUDIO INTERFACES

LoopTree works well with headphones, but for truly outstanding quality, we recommend using a USB audio interface. We have tested the following interfaces:

• Behringer UCA222 and 202
• Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 (includes MIDI)"
